The Only Travel Synth You Will Ever Need | Sampling on OP-1

- Hey, I’m Shines, and thanks for checking out my channel!
Back when my job had me flying to NYC every week, I made a lot of music while in the air. And though I’m a huge fan of the built-in synth engines on OP-1, I always pined for the sounds from my Mother-32 and my Korg Kross. I just really wanted to have those specific, recognizable sounds with me on the go, and In the air.
OP-1 can save up to 42 playable synths and 42 drum kits in its sample library. These are saved as 6-sec clips for synths, and 12-sec chops for drums. That means that all those sounds you love from your synth collection can travel with you! Of course, they’ll be mono with some artifacts in extreme high and low notes, but just consider the possibility of sketching ideas on the go with something close to the real thing.
So how does sampling work on OP-1? And is there a way to organize your samples? Watch this tutorial to find out!
Thank you so much for joining me here on ShinesTV!

Great advice, I love the format, length and content of this video. Good quality too. Thanks for sharing, makes me want to dig out my OP-1 and start sampling ASAP!
Hey Tyler! Thanks so much for your kind words!!
I can't believe OP-1's been around for so long and I'm still finding new stuff to do with it!
It is truly the Skyrim of Synthesizers lol!
what an amazing video! thanks for sharing this!!!
Thanks so much!! Happy sampling!
You are making me open my OP-1 bag again 😊
Niiice!! Thanks so much!! Excited to see your work! Love your OP-Z stuff!
Really good stuff. I suspect your subscriber count will skyrocket before too long. It's hard to believe it hasn't already with quality this high
Thanks so much Jamison!! That would be absolute dream!! Got lots more videos coming and really appreciate the support!
Very useful. Thanks 👍
Thank you!!
Awesome video, cool content and great presentation
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate the kind words and support!!
You have a nice, positive and encouraging tone in your videos! Definitely a great burst of positivity into the world! What is your opinion of the OP-Z? In terms of travel possibilities, it is appealing because it is even smaller!
Thank you so much!! Your comment means a ton Zachary! I’ve often thought of getting the OP-Z as it does so much as a sequencer and travel synth, but every other unit I find on reverb seems to have the double trigger, warped plastic, or other kind of defect. I think the assembly on them may have been rushed, and I’m just afraid to travel with a synth that could possibly break. If they make an “OP-Z field” I’d be tempted!
This is awesome! Could you share the folders you created? That would be great!
Great video production. However, you didn’t really explain that you have to go into the snapshot folder on the OP-1, rename those samples, and then create new folders for each group. Finally, you then move those renamed files to the new folders.
is the audio quality of this approach better now in op1-field? or same?
OP-1 field now has stereo sampling in 32-bit, which is higher resolution and allows for more fixing in post (think clipping and gain issues). The OG has 16-bit sampling in mono, which will still get the job done, but not in stereo.
Neat!!! What a capable “toy” 🧶
Seriously, right!? I'm still finding new stuff to do with it! Thanks so much!!
