I took $30 to an Aquarium Fish Auction!

- In this video I buy some fish at an auction and show you what you can get with just $30AUD at one of these auctions! My local cichlid club in Brisbane, Australia, recently held another auction at Springwood State School. The deals you get at the auctions are always unbeatable! They went all the way to midnight again - it is always a great time had by all :)

Realizing I watch so much Kaity's Cichlids and KeepingFishSimple that I immediately recognize an astounding number of people from the Australian fishkeeping scene (I live on the other side of the world and don't even have someone who can give me plant trimmings)
Are you in the states? Try finding a local aquarium club. I'm in a few around me. I'm sure there must be clubs around you even if you're not in the states

I've been a fish keeper for 30 years. Kept a massive variety of Tanganyikan for over 15. Don't anymore, love watching your videos 😊😊😊. You're really tempting me to get back into the hobby again. Keep it up.

That was fun, Kaity! It's was good to see all of those familiar faces. Tell me something. Is it a long drive from the auction to home? I'm looking at going to one and it's a four hour drive back home. I'm wondering if the fish will tolerate that kind of drive. Anyway . . . thanks and have a wonderful weekend! ~Ron
Thank you Ron!! It isn't too far, only about half an hour. I've personally never travelled that far with fish but I have a few friends who have so I know it's doable! I think you would just have to get it set up right with air pumps, and remove as much fish waste as possible/ideally make sure they haven't been fed recently, or have some type of bacteria colony in there with them
@@Kaityscichlids Thank you, Kaity. I really appreciate your feedback. I'll get one of those little USB pumps for the power outlet in the car and maybe bring a bucket, some fresh water and some dechlorinator. Hopefully that'll do it. I'm not even sure what'll be available there. I've never been to one of these. This one is called SAKE 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. It should be fun. Dean from Aquarium CO-OP will be one of the speakers. Enjoy your week ahead!

I like your Altolamprologus compressiceps golden head…they look agressive,but they are really quiet and calm,compatible with every species,they have a wide lifespan…they are from Tanganyika lake but can be mixed with Malawis..I’ve never seen them fighting

Do you have 😅any of these cichilds: peacock cichilds, dubious cichilds, gouramis, peacock bass, chocolate cichilds with white stripes(the last ones i mentioned are very beautiful with flair fin fans similar to crowntail beta or chinese fighting fish) ?

But the "dubious" and convict cichilds are both extremely😉🖋📂 warm and extreme freezing cold tolerance. Alot of neighbors in Dallas Texas, California and Florida raise theirs outside to get that "enhancing vitamin C, Vitamin BK that we lack cause we dont go outside as much as we should.. 😭

I can't see an event for it yet but if you follow the Qld Cichlid Group Inc on Facebook they will make an event on there 😊

We have some pretty strict laws around importing certain plants and fish so the lack of availability drives their price up like crazy!
