    See this is why I tell everybody that you are my mentor! We are taught as beginners that full sun will color up your succulents. Now you have taught me to keep my Colorata in the shade to achieve its most beautiful colors. People need to stop giving blanket succulent instructions because not all succulents are the same! I absolutely adore my Colorata. I have two leaf propagations and one mother plant and she's in a 6-in terracotta pot but she's a little bit more open than yours is because she's under the grow lights but this is one of my most perfect plants. Not a blemish or mark on her. And one of the babies is already 2 in. It grew really fast and the other one I thought was a stem baby but it was actually growing off a leaf that I knocked off so I transferred it into the prop tray and it's got two heads on it it's still very small. But thank you so much for this video because as you know I will be moving my plants outside very soon and I would have just put her in the full sun with everything else.!!!

      50% shade cloth first is always a safe bet b4 all out sun.

      @@GrowingSucculentswithLizK yes! I still have to put it up but I've already begun setting up my succulent area. It looks so good I'm so proud of myself! And I do have a slightly shaded area for my more shade loving ones LOL I actually have mostly shade dappled shade full sun and morning Sun areas!! The full sun is actually inside a dog kennel so I'm just going to drape the shade cloth over the cage. It's really nice I laid down weed cloth and then I put sawdust shavings and a big giant pallet and then I have on my shelves and everything in there. And I'm also going to do what you do with the wire around the lip of the terracotta pots I think the fencing is perfect for that!!

    Hi Liz, not only you are a very patient grower, you’re smart and excellent teacher. I don’t have Echeveria Colorata, but I’m glad you mentioned about the length of time you obtained the desired size and look as some are faster growing than the others. You really have to be smart to know the the growing habits and needs of each and every succulents to be a successful grower. You make growing succulents easy for me and I thank you so much. I have not enjoyed growing succulents as much as I am enjoying now! 🙏❤️

    A very helpful video Liz. I have 2 tiny babies I brought from Melbourne last autumn and they have only just started to do something ... I’m pleased you noted their very slow. Even though they are very small , they are still with their full colours . Cheers 🥂🌵🪴😷

    I heard the story of the succulent plant colorata.
    I haven't grown a colorata yet. Looking at your video, I also want to grow a colorata. You are separating the colorata baby from the mother~
    I also have a succulent plant waiting for the roots to come out after separating the baby of Echeveria Agaboides.

    Thank you for sharing Liz! I’ve been watching some of your other videos on succulent propagation and your DIY soil mixes for the past few weeks. I can’t tell you how thankful I am for your videos. I’m amazed at the size of succulents you grow and the size of your collection! I was hoping you could help me find a fertilizer that contains the humid acid you refer to in your “Master Soil Mix” video. The product you use, is very expensive to ship to the US so would you happen to know a similar one I can use? And maybe a similar product for the liquid you use to soak your succulent roots in.

    This is so beautiful. Now I want to get one since you said it doesn't need for sun. I want to know if this is easy to take care of and will it rot easy?
    I have now lost my last Romeo to leaf rot. Taurus and Rubin also to leaf rot. I don't know why Liz? Could it be cos of the warm weather we had when I water it? Its not in the rain and only water when its dry. I was so upset that I don't want to own any Romeo types. 😩

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 роки тому

      Humid and hot temperature are disastrous. Better to keep them dry during summer and only water(soak) when the leaves gets really wrinkly. Colorata is so much easier to look after than Romeo.

    So I went on Amazon to look for the liquid seaweed plant and soil conditioner, the search found things like organic liquid kelp, but it seems like fertilizer, it improves the conditions of the soil etc... there’s also soil conditioner I found on Amazon, Live Earth Products Humate Soil Conditioner. Any suggestions please? Mahalo nui and salamat po 🙏🏽
