James, the RD-8 automatically saves your beats that you program, but I usually record them into FL Studio as a .wav so they are safe because I might change the tuning on the Kick drum at a later date or switch the Clap to the Maraca, and it might sound different if played back on the RD-8 at a later date, safer just to record in.
are you triggering midi from a drum machine? i use ableton was just curious how you got your piano roll labeled like that mine is working but id sure like to set it up like yours and not the way it is now like a piano where the play layout makes no sense
oh nice you got it setup! it's triggering the rd-8 from FL midi-out piano roll, there happens to be a Roland TR-08 preset that labels the keys, not familiar how Ableton works.
@@WillieFourMilli probably just another area where fl piano roll is superior. thanks again these videos are helpful. i just ordered an edge to run off of the trigger outs to see if i can automate some basslines
some setting had to be enabled, maybe on the FL side of things.. but i was able to record into the RD-8.. unintentionally while doing something so it is possible!
@@WillieFourMilli ha yea, i have figured it out since then. set rd8 to midi sync, turn record on and use the play button in fl studio. Then save the pattern on the rd8.

Dude, thank you, this was so helpful.
Thanks a lot! Did not knew how to connect my FL studio with my RD-9 but this video ruled it.
glad it could help!
@@WillieFourMillido you save your beats on the Rd 8 or FL Studio

Why you dont us Midi USB?
didn't have an extra usb 😆
so the process w usb would be the same except you’ll put the rd8 in usb mode right?

when sending the piano note data from fl studio can you press record on the rd8 as a way to save those beats on the device?
i have actually tried that and it doesn’t work. 😭🤣
how weird, would be a quick way around the lack of preset patterns @@WillieFourMilli
