i really enjoyed the rd8 especially after i learned to program triplets but then i seen that the mpc one was about the same price used and could also control CV, midi and auto resample so i decided ill rebuy the rd8 later and got a used one plus and a broken model 12 that i repaired. im just starting into hardware and all i have is a massive analog synth i built one circuit at a time out of an old stop sign, a werkstatt and a dfam clone.the rd was probably not the best first percussion purchase for a well rounded source of drums but i already miss it.
I've been torn between getting this or the TR-08. The Roland one seems easier to set up in my DAW for mixing/recording, but the RD-8 just looks way more fun to play live in the room. There's pros and cons to both, and I just can't decide. Which one would you recommend for my first drum machine?
@@rompofotters the TR-08 is more about the novelty factor, smaller, fun, hobby, less hassle, fake analog. the RD-8 is full sized, you can expand to other gear with it's 11 outputs, analog circuitry. for hobby i think the TR-08 is good for an hour here or there, but if you look at music studios you'll see the RD-8 as an actual piece of gear people use.
@@WillieFourMilli Thank you. I would like to expand on my recording gear in the near future, like a proper mixer etc. So, RD-8 seems like the way to go.

yea i can see the mpc being good with that setup, the rd8 has less 🧠 for those kinds of things.
