I find your journey on your game really interesting. Managing a family, a full time job and trying to make a game is no easy feat, congrats
It's certainly not easy but dang its alot of fun :) Thanks for your awesome and supportive comment!
You're doing amazing, both as a father and game developer. Keep up the good work :D Can't wait for the release so I can play it >:0
Wow what a cool thing to say. Saying I'm a good game developer is one thing. But saying I'm a good father is even more important and meaningful. Thanks for making my day with your kindness.
How do you know that he is a great father (no Offense, I think that too but how do you know)
@@CLUJ_Spotting I mean, just look at the video's. Sure seems to me like they are having a blast!
Working on this only 2h a day shows how amazingly talented you are! Making something like this, including all these devlogs in that time is fantastic!
Thanks for the rad comment. Super nice of you to say! I'll sneak away some time on the weekends as well. I can usually get 10-15 hours into the project per week this way...
Just have to agree with @debozebever here. The amount of progress you make and the quality of the results in 10-15 hours a week boggles the mind. I really like your approach of moving on when you get stuck and using non-dev time to think about possible fixes. I can't count the number of times and hours I've wasted just banging my head on a problem instead of stepping away
@@sdether honestly that’s a great takeaway. Most of the time when I come back to a problem fresh, it’s literally solved in 15 min.
@@advanceninetotally agree!
Pretty inspiring how even with the stress of a full time job and gamedev, you're still able to save time and energy for family! You're a very hard working man!
And I freakin love it!
Dude, just came across this channel. As an embedded software developer / FPGA and hardware designer with a family myself (also in SoCal lol), you're living my career aspiration. Having the flexibility to do work when and how you want to so you can build your work around your family time, fitness, and passion projects, instead of the other way around. I know it's not the focus of the channel, but I'd love to hear more about how you made the leap into independent engineering contracting.
Whoa that’s cool. We have super similar backgrounds. Thanks for the love and I’ll totally talk about my plunge into independent contracting in the future.
This is inspiring. It makes me feel like no matter how jam packed my day may get, there’s always still time to do what you love.
It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.
Exactly! Its not going to happen in a day so just keep chipping away...
truly an epic dude love your dev bro, looks like you have so much fun and happiness doing game dev ((: you always have a smile which is so wholesome
Thank you! I have nothing to be upset about... that's for sure. Healthy and happy kids, a supportive wife, and I get to make video games! Life is good and I'm the luckiest dude on the planet 🔥🔥🔥
Very heartwarming and wholesome !! Not only you're very talented but also, You're a great person and a great dad ! 🤘🏻
Wow. That’s some really high praise and I don’t even think i deserve it. Thanks for being so cool and supportive. This is one of the nicest comments I’ve ever read.
@@advancenine You're most welcome !! And YES you 100% deserve it. I was smiling the whole time I was watching the video and I'm very excited to play Night Stones ! Keep up the great work man 🤘🏻🔥
I've started developing my own game outside of work too, your channel gave me the inspiration to finally do it. Not sure how you handle the lack of sleep though, my brain can never switch off at night
I was there. After three years of kid induced sleep deprivation, I am like a pro sleeper now. If you give me 15 minutes to chill, I can have a 14 minute nap #nojoke
@@advancenine how long did it take for you to get to MVP working part time, my long term plan is around 4 years and then using kickstarter to fund full time
Following ur game its just awsome how you r managing youtube, kids, family, work, game
it is hard but u nailed it
Man this was perfect. Really good and it is great that you take the time for each part as a whole.
It's is really cool to see you growing a youtuber! I love the different content!
I've been waiting for this since the first devlog😊. I've started my devlog series and can't really manage my time well to be honest. Each video got push out really slow so im amazed by what you're doing
As a fellow dad, independent contractor, and creative… you’re right. Bluey IS awesome.
I am super impressed with your progress and momentum! My wife and I had our first kid just over 3 months ago and it feels so hard to get anything done. Can't wait to see more and hopefully I can learn to be a bit more like you!
Thank you for sharing this! I really needed it. As someone in the same situation (job, wife, kids) finding time to gamedev can be a struggle. I'm amazed at what you have accomplished with 2 hours a day. That's inspiring and gives me hope. Keep it up, you're killing it!
Backed! Good luck with the campaign!
hey man, just watched the 6 devs one game video. Thought your additions were the best and I loved the preview of the game your working on aswell. Added to my wishlist!
Hey Ryan, just a friend here dropping in to say I really admire what you do and how you try to inspire others with your positivity. Ive been having a rough couple days mentally and I know this isnt your most recent video, but Ive been following them and (sorry if its weird) but you have a very comforting energy and your videos help me feel a little better. Just wanted to come post some thanks and appreciation, and to say never give up! Im glad you do what you do!
What’s up friend :) thanks for this amazing comment. Seriously one of the greatest and nicest things Ive ever heard. I really appreciate the kind vibes you threw down. Given how cool you sound, I’d be shocked if you didn’t start feeling better soon. I really hope that’s true. Thanks for being so dang nice.
Thanks for paying back the kindness, that was nice and lo and behold, I do feel a bit better today! Thanks for being a good dude. Lets go Night Stones!@@advancenine
@@NZMPlayslove hearing this, friend. Thanks for being cool and amazing!
How kind of you to let us spend time with your family!
I hope this game takes off and you're able to do more than a few hours a day on it. Or do whatever else you want to!
Aww that would be so cool and I really appreciate this comment. Your positivity is so motivating. Yeah I could def do with some more sleep!
Super high-quality content. I enjoyed this video very much. You're doing great bro!
I am amazed at peoples process and abilities, and have so much enjoyed watching this series. I have wishlited your game on steam and hope you nothing but the best. I will continue to follow along, thank you for sharing. best wishes man,.
Lol, relatable. Bluey is amazing, really well thought through show with no constant themes. It's interesting to take a look into your day. I didn't realize how little time you actually have to dev on your game. I hope things take off for you, and you're able to spend more time doing the things you're most passionate about and have more time with the kiddos.
Ur the best game dev youtuber ive ever watched. I hope ur channel succeeds and i hope you make more vids! Keep up the good work. :)
That’s inspiring! You are definitely nailing it! All the best to you and your family 😊
Man you are such an insanely huge inspiration to me. Your hard work and amazing attitude are something I strive for as an aspiring game developer who works full time with a family. Keep up the amazing work ❤
Man you are amazing! Best devlog I ever saw!
As a dad of two I completely understand what you are into now: Bluey is awesome it’s hard to stop watching 😅
I saw 6Devs make a game, then went to steam to add the game to wish list (as you asked) and the trailer on steam was really awesome the narration captured my imagination/interest/curiosity and just wanted to let you that its a really cool trailer 👍
I loved seeing this realistic & feasible schedule. Keep up the videos!
thanks for putting this together. I was one of the many who asked to see this and I very much appreciate you doing so. 😊
Wonderful to see this. Thank you for sharing some parts of your life with us.
I love your devlogs. I have been enjoying so many different kinds of devlogs for the last couple of months and they really get me excited and motivated to work on my own stuff. I still have a shelf filled with game ideas but first, needing to learn Unreal Engine and a bit of coding because as an Artist, that is far more difficult than the other way around.
Anyways, I love the game!
Love the video! I wish my days provided a fraction of that time to work on game dev!
This is so impressive, congrats on what you've been able to accomplish!
Thanks for sharing this! After a full day of work it's hard to do more freelancing on the side, and i wanted to transition into doing potential gamedev... but with a huge fear regarding the actual time i would have to pour into this.
Also, i'm working on a Bluey game as my real daily job, and seeing you mentioning it warms my heart!
Kuddos to you for those videos!
Thanks for sharing your process and good luck on your kickstarter.
Thanks for the nice comment! I appreciate it. The Kickstarter had a big morning yesterday but it’s slowed a lot since #nervous but I think it’ll be a fun journey!

Good afternoon I supported the entire collection process with PR, mailing, I will be glad if you include in the credits among those who helped you. Maxim Stoyalov
Great job balancing your work and beautiful family. Will check out the kickstarter and wishing you success.
Aww thanks so much for your kind words and I truly appreciate you checking out the Kickstarter!
Om man I love this I'm a single dad myself always wanted to do game dev over the year I did that but it isn't easy, I'm proud of you how you keep it running ! Keep up the good work my daughter is so exited to play your game.
Game dev journey is tight as a family with kids (got a 3 yr and 2 x 4mnt babies), it's still worth it. We just got to accept our progress at what phase life sets for us. Sometimes slow, and sometimes faster and adapt the routine.
Inspiring to see your content and thank you for sharing your routine. Would be happy to see more like this and also as your life changes as nothing is constant.
This is so wholesome, I love this. Keep it up ❤
I've wondered about this! Mad RESPECT!! Night Stones to the moon!
Bluey is indeed awesome my 4 and 7 year olds, laugh their assess off with me everyone we put it on. Best cartoon ever. As a fellow gamedev and work from home programmer, i really admire your organization. I struggle for time still.
Congrats on all your achievements, and wish you the best on Kickstarter
As a fulltime worker and dad of two I can only greatly appreciate the effort you put into this. I am still starting out, not a good video editor and the time it takes me to make devlogs is simply too much for now. I try to put time in every day, but that is really hard. I will however make sure I make my game, so I love seeing how you do it.
Wow that is amazing idk how are you able to do this.
Woo im so hyped for this game
You are so amazing, your work gave me a tons of motivations ❤
Oh wow, you actually just get like 2-3 hours dev time a day? You must be extremely focused and effective with the time you actually spend. In my hobby VR projects I can sit for 4-5 hours in the evening (have grown up kids so more spare time) and be satisfied that I can place or move about some blocks in my world. :) - I see your Kickstarter was pretty successful, and I hope the money will buy you some time off work to have some fuller days of development now and then. Exercise is vital as you say, it really boosts energy levels and ones ability to handle stress.
Your game looks epic! Can't believe it was made by one person. Keep up the great work!
The main character looks like your children, that's was very wholesome!
I wish I could do this too. At 8 am I am trying to get my kid to school after taking care of dishes and making breakfast. We are usually late because we oversleeping abit. Then I go to work and finish around 5 or 6. I try to get my workout by biking the 6 kilometers to and from work. Then we make dinner and help the kid with homework. After that I'm REALLY tired and usually fall asleep if we try and watch something together. If I have energy, there's laundry and cleaning. Then we put the kid to bed and by that time all I can think about is getting to bed. I started a game way back, but I'm usually too tired to work on it when I have time.
Bluey is friggin' awesome, and made in my town. Many locations in the show are based on real locations in my suburb, as this is where some of the creators live.
Keep it up bro. Impressive effort on the game, especially with all you have going on. Respect.
Love the family dynamics!
I really love and i apreciate this video! Currently i’m working on Operation Highjump game at Mansion Games, i have a child, i’m starting my own project and im strugling to find time to work on it!
My little sister also loves Bluey. I love how much appreciation it's getting. I wish Bluey was around when I was growing up.
Right!? Bluey where it's at! There is a live version coming to town soon. I'm going to take my son and pretend I'm doing it for him but I bet I want to go more than he does 😆
As a fellow dad / game dev hobbyist, I can confirm this is all part of it, including Bluey being friggin awesome and distracting 😂 keep up the great work man! Also curious, how did you learn how to create such awesome art for your game?
Wishlisted on steam, but can't wait for this to come out on Switch or PS5!
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing your routine)
What "4 years laptop" do you use, if I understand correctly?
Great video as always! Keep it up
Awesome, well done my man, it ain't easy but it looks like you are bossing it
My friend, I have so much respect for what you are doing... I also love Bluey... for the kids, obviously.
You are a legend 👍 keeping smashing bro!
I would love to know how did you learn so much about game dev in a so short time frame. Also your games (even past ones) have always had amazing graphics and animations. Do you do them by yourself? How did you learn how to do them?
As a father/husband who is just getting into game dev as a hobby, your video was refreshing and inspiring! Keep up the good work!
So inspiring ! As a dad with a wife and kids you shown me it is possible to have a hobby that requires so much time like this!
how did you start learning unity/blender and how long have you been doing it? what resources did you use and what do you do when you get stuck? i think it would be a nice topic to talk bout in a next video. Thank you!
The top reason why I try to support you as much as possible is because one day, I hope to end up living a peaceful and happy life like yours
Hey man great work so far, i have a idea and i dont know if you could program it but it could give the world more live, you could add a feature that when its night time more animals that are nocturnal like a Owl are on the map. So when the player finds about the night day sytem he can meet new npc.
Love your videos !
Thanks for the insight!
Your amazing im so happy i found this channel
I am so excited for Nightstones that I leave my own game and everything else in the middle and focus on watching ur devlog. You are a huge inspiration and i wish nothing but success for you and your amazing family. God bless ❤
Also, p.s i am assuming that kickstarter campaign will go at least 200% funded, but i really hope that i am wrong and it will go even more 🎉
Wow thats such a cool and kind gesture. Thank you! If the Kickstarter campaign gets 200% funded, I will probably cry #dontjudgeme 😆
It doesn’t seem like that many hours a day but at least it’s consistant ! Also like the idea of using your time at the computer as well as possible and never staying blocked for too long! Solutions often come when you’re not at your desk.
Keep it up !
Hello, from Canada, Toronto. Great work, I’m also working on a title myself. Furthermore, a father and husband as well have a full time job, although my full time job is more labour intensive. My question to you is how do you stay motivated, and find the time to work on your project, do UA-cam, and manage all of these things? I have recently hit a road block, mentally, emotionally, and physically tired and can’t seem to get back on track.
Also I have been modeling all game assets myself, coding myself. I’m new to programming and 3d modeling never have done anything like this in the past.
I wish you all the best and great work so far.
I love this kind of content 🏆🙂🙏🏼
Hi Ryan. First off I want to say your game looks really fun to play. I can't wait and yes I already wishlisted it :) Only thing I would change so far would be your picture for your game and only the character to reflect what he looks like in game. Everything else in the picture keep the same. Thats just my 2 cents. Maybe one day we can work together
Awesome, looks great so far. Wish you the best of luck, I play around with MVP and tried my hand at game making it got to overwhelmed for me. So I just stopped, it's great that you are sticking to your guns..
Hey its the dude that recommended the pet idea to you from the last devlog. I just wanted to say i went on your kickstarter and pledged $60 towards the game. Im hoping the pets get added because I had a dog that passed away a year ago today. His name was bear. If you could add a german shepard or a doberman, ( becuase hes mixed) its be nice. I know you done take handouts si if you dont want to its fine. Im just glad pets are being added to the game
this moved me, sorry for your loss 😢 come on mr. advancenine!! I also want more cute dogs 🐶
Hi Ryan, I want to be a game developer like you but I'm a professional procrastinator so I always put off things I need to do but I feel motivated every time I see your videos. Your art style, technique and motivation are amazing. Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing great work!
Hey Ryan, it‘s Insane how you are doing your Game dev, fulltimejob, Family and UA-cam. I‘m also doing in private a softwareproject while having a fulltimejob and a family(„only“ one kid) and friends and sport and… and sometimes i realy am struggeling to keep my pace and motivation. Mostly when i know i need to fix several bugs 🫠. I‘m always going forward with my project but you realy gave me some extra Motivation and inspired me again on how much can be done by a single person. Found your channel yesterday and already watched all devlogs. Big thanks and big whoaa that you do UA-cam on top of your project.
🎮 Wishlist Night Stones on Steam Now 🌙👉store.steampowered.com/app/2300340/Night_Stones
Very inspiring. Rooting for you, man.
Heck yeah! Thank you!
I can never imagine making a game as beautiful as this. I'm currently developing a 30 level obstacle challenge game with each level having different ways to play the game. So far I've finished 4 levels. It's a game that will mentally exhaust you, it's a game that even I myself is having a very hard time finishing each level.
"I'll think through some of the details of Night Stones as I'm falling asleep"
This resonates with me so much and I don't think I love anything as much as being so motivated for a project that you fall asleep thinking about it
I wanted to get my dream game finished before having kids because I was afraid of not being able to give either the time they deserve. This is a refreshing example of how it can still be possible as long as you manage your time. :) Best of luck to your project, and your family!
Your schedule is very similar to mine haha although I have only 1 kid with another on the way
Keep up the good work!
You inspire me! The first months are rough. I wish you and your family the best. You keep up all the good work too!
So wholesome. Backed your game on Kickstarter!
What!? Seriously! Dude you are greatest friend ever. Thanks for the rad support. I promise to deliver something amazing! Appreciate you being so rad :)
You're super cool, dude! I love your mindset
Heck yeah, Bluey is the best! We also started a routine with our 3-year-old of watching an episode or two of Bluey before reading a few books and then going to bed. It's working and making that transition of sleepy time a bit easier.
Really!? Aww that’s good to hear. I thought we were the only ones. Somehow adding a bit of tv at the end of the night made it easier to get the kids to sleep. #thankyoubluey
Thank you for the inspiration.
Really enjoyed the video
Thanks for this video! Do you feel like in the evening game dev session you are as crisp as in the morning sessions?
Wow, amazing. So you work on your game two hours per day, every day? Even weekends? How do you get so much done in such little time? And how often do you deviate from your 2 hour per day time cap? Isn’t it hard to restrict yourself to working on your game for just 2 hours in a day, especially when you get passionate while working on certain parts of your game? Sorry, so many questions! Keep up the great work!
Hey can you share a bit of how you started game development and the best way to get started on learning to game dev.
we know that's isn't easy keep going, you are awesome!!!
This is very tough, respect!
multiplayer like "it takes two" would be awesome
I totally agree with @yaknashe and look forward to playing the Demo and full game, I add my pledge later as I watching TV at the moment and I have a few feature ideas to add to the game I'll post them in the comments on your next Devlog vedio.
Mabye u could make the mini map a bit brighter. I’m so excited for the game
