This game got so many things right. This is outrageously specific, but one mark they hit was having a gentle breeze blowing on the character when he stands still, looking off in the distance in a humbly heroic pose. I didn't realize it before this game but I fell in love with finding scenic spots, facing just such a way and imagining I was there taking it all in. Good idea on redoing your playthru, this was even more fun to watch!
I agree with your specific mention, something I would like to add is the idle animations. They are good aswell, the way Jak and Daxter react with each other can be pretty funny. Its kinda weird but as I get older I find myself standing in scenic spots alot more in games. Something about taking a games world in and looking at amazing backgrounds developers especially in 3d games with a cool hero. Also I'm glad you enjoyed watching, it was a lot more fun this time around.
@@LoopyLongplays Yeah! I second the idle animations. That was a smart thing for the developers to include. Being told that the two main characters are best friends through cutscenes and dialogue is one thing, but seeing them joke and have fun together when no other person is around, that gives the characters and their relationship way more life.
It was mine too... Got it for my playstation 2. I still remember the day I got it. It was like 11 years ago when I got it. I'm 19 now. Damn it was a good game. I still remember rage quitting though because I was new to video games lol.
Omg same, me and my brothers had a PS2 and we had like three or four games for it and this was my favourite one. It holds a special place in my heart still to this day
Gosh, the sound design for this game was super satisfying to listen to: the momentum of Jak & Daxter when he diveslams into things, the music, the collecting of different things, the punches, the creatures, their death sounds, all of it is so memorable and packs so much kick with each sound. Everything stood out back then. Awesome vid, thanks for uploading this.
If you didn't notice, the Precursor Orbs were known as the Strange Relic treasure in Uncharted 1, 2, 3, 4, and Golden Abyss and the dive suits that Nate and Elena wear that say "Ottsel" on them refers to Daxter because he is an Ottsel.
My favorite game ever. It’s so beautifully simple, and the visuals/colors were ahead of their time. I would’ve loved for J&D to have an animated TV series! Thanks for taking the time to do these:)
Loved this game when I was a kid. Tbh it doesn’t have much in the way of new ideas - it’s basically a checklist of platformer/collect-a-thon tropes. But it’s so well executed that it doesn’t really matter. One of my favorite 3D platformers of all time.
When I was a kid I won my PS2 from a fundraiser competition from my grade school. Jak and Daxter was the first game I got for it, before I even had a memory card. I'd turn on the game every morning and try to play as far as I could before I had to turn it off for bed. For being the dumb little kid I was, I got pretty good at doing the Green Sage and Blue Sage portions of the game.
Of all the times that I have played this game, I have never once heard Samos explain how to dive bomb the Scout Fly boxes. I just simply did it without thinking given my experience with Jak and Daxter after all. But one more thing... Everytime you collect a Precursor Orb, you can hear the word "Laundry" as it's added to the counter
My favorite of the trilogy. Jak 2 and 3 are excellent, but I really miss the emphasis on platforming from the first game. I also liked the world design in the first game a lot more. The levels felt more dense and compact. I feel like the driving and open world of Jak 2 and 3 took away from a bit of what made the first game special.
I couldn't agree more. The second two games definitely had some tension going for them that kept the world of Jak and Daxter a thrill ride, but I found their stories were just super tedious and didn't have that same level of magic The Precursor Legacy does, starting with the elimination of Power Cells. Although, I'll be willing to admit, the Jet Board and free-range zoomers are a nice touch
It's incredible, indeed unthinkable that this Masterpiece was released in 2001. Graphically it still kicks the ass of many Modern games. One of my all time favorite games and one of the (few) games I keep replaying to this day.
This game was so hard for me as a kid. I never knew where to go. I think the furthest I got was the beginning of blue sage. I'm glad there's a playthrough I can see the whole game 😊
Thanks for amazing walkthrough! I played this game when i was 8-9 yeras old. Got amazing feelings right now)) Greetings from russia! Can you show second and third part of Jak,it would be great :)

1. I wonder what an adult Flut Flut looks like. 2. There should have been a Red Eco switch in the Rock Village area. 3. The Flut Flut should have breathed Yellow Eco if Jak is powered-up by it. 4. Stop pretending to be a Lurker! 5. How are Jak and Daxter not shivering in Snowy Mountain?!
I played this game by myself once and failed to find a few power cells and got it in about 8 hours but i watched this then played again and did it in 4 hours 58 minutes and 12 seconds!
Great long play loved the game as a kid. It was one of three games we owned on ps2 after Tony Hawk pro skater and Driver 2. I will say it was a bit painful watching you in the Lost Precursor City. I fear you were maybe somewhat somnolent when you played that part.
oh man, those parallel bars at 3:56:36! Those stupid things are the reason I never beat the game as a kid haha I was borrowing it from a friend and just. Rage quit after days of failing that spot on the old PS2.
@LexPower Studios I might but watching the play throughs scratched the itch I had about playing these games. I’d rather watch it be played than struggle to not die every 5 seconds
That's how I roll too. I watch these long plays simply because I love enjoying the tension of the story when I don't have to go through all the effort of beating the game. After all, "YA GOTTA ADMIT THIS IS COOL, JUST LIKE A MOVIE!" My entire family just thinks it's weird
This is by far my all-time favorite video game. Nothing compares to it! Snowy Mountain is my all-time favorite level. I wish I had a sweet fort on top of a snowy mountain Although, has anybody else noticed the sound gets a little wonky near the robot excavation in Spider Cave?
100%. The Jak & Daxter series, Spyro, Sly Raccoon, and Ratchet & Clank really were some of the greatest games to ever grow up with, I'm so grateful for having been able to play them.
man, I got 1 main criticism, you never just go balls to the wall with the yellow eco, or aim down your sight with it other than during the rat shooting minigame, but so many times i noticed you run into a dark eco box after having had vast yellow eco to blow them up with. other than that, defs a better run than the first time but if you were gonna do it again you should defs work on that haha.
Something that doesn't get stated enough about this game is how well they hid loading. It's almost impeccable and if you're not actively looking for it you'd play through the entire game without noticing it. That's actually quite a feat for an early PS2 game.
This one I have alot less deaths, its in 1080p, and well I played the game much better. 45mins - 1 hour shorter. Knowing where to go and what to do. I got a decent amount of complaints in my last one so I figured I would give it another go.
USAGE question for channel: Do you mind if I use a few brief bits and and screenshots of this for a project on the psychology of video games? I'll credit your channel as the source in my work!

I'm in 2024 and I still want a new Jak game where Gol and Mara come back! They hinted at their return, so heavily in this AND it would tie all the games back together. It'd be a perfect true ending to the series instead of the shitty Lost Frontier game.

The first time I played this game it was so hard for me. Years later, I finally beat it!
That’s what my dad told me cause back then there was no UA-cam and when I got it for ps4 I beat it so easily cause I memorized everything 😂😂😂

i’m finding it harder to play this time around on ps4 because it’s been years and the controls are weird since it’s a ps2 game on ps4
Jak 2 was like that for me and I finally beat it 1 or 2 years ago myself! This series while it has frustrating moments was so much fun!!
