Hey man great video, I loved how easy you made all the explinations. Edit: at 15:39 would the answers not be -3+sqrt3 and -3-sqrt3 as it asked for the y co-ordinates, or is your presentation acceptable for an exam board.
L1 has the equation y = 4x/5 + 2. S is the point where L1 crosses the x-axis, therefore y = 0. Substitute y = 0 for y = 4x/5 + 2. 4x/5 = -2. 4x = -10. x = -10/4 = -2.5
Hello there, at 10:35 how did you get 6 as the y coordinate for P? to find the Y coordinate for P, I made x=5 and its was y=5+2 which was 7 instead of 6. I'm not sure if I misunderstood the question or not.
Hey, a quick question do this video (and the second one to this) cover all the topics in AS level Maths CIE - Cambridge Assessment International Education ??? If not - then can you tell me how much percent of the topics have been covered according to AS Level Maths CIE....
haii if you're talking about the IAL Pearson Edexcel one, the P1 (pure mathematics 1) book as well as P2 (pure mathematics 2) are considered AS, and then P3 and P4 for A2/A-levels. They are 4 different books.. 2 for each level with a combination of mechanics (M1) or statistics (S1) but that depends on your school or educational system so ask your teacher to make sure about this
@Tony Debling will this help me achieve an D so far I've been getting U's on my exams and I want to get higher I got A in computer science and A in business maths I understand but I struggle to know what methods to use especially with how questions are worded and I have to get a D to enter second year and my exams are from 23rd I did answer booklets but I get stuck on question which I should know maybe could yu help I so badly need to pass I want to do maths
i am literally the exact same here, exam is on the 18th this month for pure AS and I'm failing exams but passing business and computer science. @Tony Debling anything that will help me get to second year would be amazing and I'm on WJEC exam board
In general, to solve a^x = k, you take log(to the base a) of both sides, which gives x log(base a) a = log(base a)k, as log(base a) a = 1, then x = log(base a) k. In this case you can see what x must be by observation as in earlier comment.
You are told point of intersection of lines has x coord of 5, so subst this into the equation of the line given to find y = 6 so point of intersection is (5, 6). So equation of perpendicular line is (y - 6)=m(x - 5)

for coordinate geometry, where did you get -2.5 from?
L1 has the equation y = 4x/5 + 2. S is the point where L1 crosses the x-axis, therefore y = 0. Substitute y = 0 for y = 4x/5 + 2. 4x/5 = -2. 4x = -10. x = -10/4 = -2.5

For the first question, you're asked to give your answer as an integer, so you need to evaluate 2³, which is 8.
Fair point
5:00 for the second simultaneous equations question I found k to be a half, skewing the answer to c also. I cannot understand it to be 1/16?
64k^2 - 4k=0. So when u take 4k out u get 4k(16k-1)=0 hence giving 1/16

Y = 4/5 x + 2, when x=5, 4/5 of 5 is 4, plus 2 is 6
Bro my mocks are in a few days
at 12.51 dont you divide root 34 by 2 because you find d which is root 34 but you want r ?
No, PQ is the radius not the diameter.
Thankyou so much. U saved my life 🥹
11:42
so if the equation for the line 'L2' is y = - 5/4 x + 49, then should'nt the equation in ax + by + c = 0 form be 5x + 4y - 196 = 0?
L2 is 4y = 5x + 49
Sorry 4y = -5x +49
Will AS levels be this easy? I doubt it
When you know how to solve the problems it is easy, when you don't it ain't. Do as many past papers as you can. Good luck.
At 12:02 Why wasn't the base 7.3(you add 9.8 and -2.5) instead of 12.3
We are adding lengths. SO is 2.5 and OT is 9.8, so ST is 2.5 + 9.8
for the first simultaneous equation question why is y equal to 3 and not -1/2 but for -4 its the same?
You substitute x=-1/4 in the first equation y=1-2x = 1 + 1/2 = 3/2
@@tonydebling thank you!
0:45 how do you turn numbers into products of prime numbers?

Hey,
a quick question
do this video (and the second one to this) cover all the topics in AS level Maths CIE - Cambridge Assessment International Education ???
If not - then can you tell me how much percent of the topics have been covered according to AS Level Maths CIE....
I am talking about only the book of PURE MATHS 1
Sorry I've not looked at this
hi, i have the same question. did u pass your pure math 1 exam with this video?xD or did you use any other resourses ?
hey the pure mathematics 1 book has AS and A levels combined in 9 chapters , until where does the AS level part stop like at what chapter?
Sorry I'm not sure that I know the book that you are referring to.

@HQS computer science is like year 8 stuff in first year trust me there’s barely any correlation between maths and cs
do you have anything for AS Further Maths?
Sorry, not at the moment
@@tonydebling all good👍
But these are pure Mathematics 2 not 1
how does k = 1/16 doesnt make sense
(8K)^2 - 4K =0
64K^2 - 4K = 0
4K(16K - 1) = 0
K = 0 OR K = 1/16
At 3:06 how do you figure out x. Is it just through logic or do you have to do some sort of dividing.
2^x = 1/8 = 2^(-3), so x= -3
In general, to solve a^x = k, you take log(to the base a) of both sides, which gives x log(base a) a = log(base a)k, as log(base a) a = 1, then x = log(base a) k. In this case you can see what x must be by observation as in earlier comment.
