  • The Honda HR-V (aka the Honda Vezel) has been one of Singapore's most popular cars over the past decade. You see them everywhere on the roads, thanks to its practicality, frugality, and ease of use. How does the new generation model move the game on, and does it still have the substance to be the people's car of Singapore? Find out here.

Great work, the only 2022 HR-V I can get in Australia is the petrol version, which is a lot more cheaper in price but I am worried the engine will be to underpowered and sluggish with not enough power? I drive 40 percent city and 60 percent highway driving, do you think engine will be enough? I never speed and try to drive softly within the speed limit, just looking for long term reliability

      Reliability shouldn't be a worry since 1) it's a relatively simple engine and 2) it's a Honda
You'll probably find power lacking though, especially given the size of Australian cities and countryside, and the engines that the HR-V's competitors are available with. The HR-V's 1.5L only makes 106HP and 127Nm, so it's just about adequate if you're only pottering around town, but acceleration on the highway will be a laborious affair.

@@ignitiontv1893 the version in Indonesia said the 1.5 L petrol engine will provide 121 HP, is it different engine version?

    Hows the engine noise?

It's about expected for a naturally-aspirated engine with a CVT gearbox... Fairly quiet while cruising, but gets quite noisy if you need quick acceleration

Thanks..is this new HRV a good car to buy?

@@ramvoix2036 Yes it is, it's a lot more comfortable than the old car. But get the e:Hev hybrid model; it's a far better drivetrain than the 1.5 petrol. Much better refinement, acceleration, and fuel economy.

Unfortunately the Honda dealer doesn't have a HR-V Hybrid for us to test, so if you want to find out how the hybrid system is like, check out our Jazz Hybrid review: autoapp.sg/2021-honda-jazz-hybrid-review/
