Maybe interesting to know: Thomas Sankara was the one who renamed the country from upper volta to Burkina Faso. He also achieved food self-sufficienty, was the first head of state to promote women's rights and much more

Thomas Sankara was a brilliant leader. Hell, along with Red Rosa, he's one of the few that even Tankies like.
Frankly, Sankara was incredible. He prioritized Woman's rights. He banned female genitalia Mutilation, Forced Marriage, Polygamy, and lived in realitive squalor; donating much of his profits to the poor, taking only what he needed. He worked with the people, and helped the poor.

+Jacon170 The channel is growing by approx 5,000 subs per week but whilst some channels have millions of subs only a small percentage watch all the videos, especially within the first couple of weeks. However, I'd estimate at least 80% of subs to this channel watch the videos within days of them being uploaded so whilst the numbers aren't huge the fan base is loyal, which IMO counts for more.

I'm Burkinabé and I found your video quite accurate. A few precisions tho.. Mandeka and Bambara are almost the same. it's a langage spoken in the West of Burkina, in Mali, Ivory Coast, Guinea... with little variation depending on the region. And football (wich you call soccer) is still the most popular sport by far. no one watches rugby over here. The political transition was troubled by a military coup that lasted only two weeks after the people and most of the army opposed to it. so the elections were held in December instead of November, and won by Roch Kabore, a former parliament speaker.

I AM ALWAYS SO AMAZED BY YOUR WORK.
I have been subscribed to this channel for quite some time (since the Belgium video, if I remember correctly.) and I can honestly with my hand on my heart say I've never been this interested in Geography. My own Geography teacher besides that is a living bedtime story for my long class naps, so I am incredibly thankful that everyone behind Geography Now! boozed my interest in this subject! Thank you. :D

In future go into detail about the ancient history like the first humans in the area and historical kingdoms. I wanna learn more about the Mossi kingdom. I'm just afraid he will skip the history of African or south America nations but talk about the Romans in Italy or the Celts in Britain and barely mention the Songhai of Mali or the Nubians of Egypt and Sudan.

+H. Leo actually it is probably because of deep religious beliefs that shame contraceptives. It's a serious problem in third world country's that lead to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in some countrys. Of course there's also the problem with a culture among young people that doesn't care about other people if they know they're gonna die anyways. But that is a different problem.

I have traveled a bit in West-Africa and found Burkina Faso to be one of the nicer countries.
Addition: since a lot of geographic names are pretty long, people often use just the first half; Ouaga, Bobo, etc.
Second addition: roads that are on the map, but do not lead to either Ouaga or Bobo, aren't there at all.

Can I use screenshots from the videos for the presentation? There are only two teachers in front of me and it would make it much easier.
Looking forward to new videos of you (especially germany and turkey) and just stay as you are now.I already learned a lot :D

    Prehistoric period
As for all of West Africa, Burkina Faso has experienced very early settlement, including hunter-gatherers in the northwestern part of the country (12,000 to 5,000 years before the Christian era), and of which tools (scrapers, chisels and tips) were discovered in 1973. Sedentarisation appeared between 3,600 and 2,600 before the Christian era with farmers, whose traces of construction have allowed to consider a relatively durable installation. The use of iron, ceramics and polished stone developed between 1500 and 1000 BC, as well as the emergence of spiritual concerns, as evidenced by the remains of burial discovered.
Remains attributed to the Dogons have been discovered in the North Central, North and North-West regions. But they left the area between the fifteenth century and the sixteenth century to settle in the cliff of Bandiagara. In addition, remains of walls are located in southwestern Burkina Faso (and Côte d'Ivoire), but their builders have not been able to be identified with certainty. The ruins of Loropéni, located near the borders of Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, are now recognized World Heritage site.
