- We install an IS20 Turbo and a 3" Integrated Engineering downpipe on our project MK7 Alltrack. Enjoy some of the nonsense that goes on while 1 person works and everyone else mostly messes around!

I love these videos! Watching the down pipe shake and yank reminded me of working on my neighbors car growing up. It always turned into Mike yelling "just push it as far as you can and pull like hell!" We cracked an aluminum block with a pry bar.

Now I see why on MCM they lowered the turbo down the back of the engine instead of taking it out the top
note to self, if I ever want to replace my 4-mo sportwagen turbo, have paul come do it.
Dont call Paul! Did you even watch the video? He had 3 guys and had to call another guy who actually knew what to do. 4 guys x $100/hr x 6 hrs = $2,400 install. Hilarity was worth it tho!

The struggle of working on a VW, everything is jammed together so tightly. Doing the DIY timing belt on a 2.0t fsi was a nightmare lol.

This video just proves that if you work on cars and do NOT use colorful language, you are essentially dead inside.
I like is38 but is20 hybrid ballbearing is amazing, makes more power than a stock is38 and the instant spool while no drop in top end boost is amazing. But the only issue I have is zero traction if I'm racing in a dig . Rolling start nobody is catching me .
If the GTI was run without oil, doesn't that ruin the turbo too? Pulling the downpipe on my S3 on stands in the garage was not fun. Ended up just cutting it off after the flex pipe so I could turn things as needed but putting the new one in was easy. While I was at it, I did all my planned mods in one afternoon instead of over 3-4 years (034/APR/Unitronic/Neuspeed stuff)

Entertaining as always! I was under the impression, that even with a catted downpipe and stage 2 software, cars will not pass emissions testing-- I know this varies by state. What are the laws in NC? NY allows (1) one "not ready" monitor, but I believe with stage 2, (2) two monitors are "not-ready". Not sure if the readiness monitors differ for each tune.

What else have you installed ? Fuel pump, Intercooler, exhaust (besides downpipe), intake, sparkplugs.
And how many hp or kW does you think i can achieve with a IS20 + downpipe + cold air intake ?

Does a turbo swap require a engine mapping? In the Video it seems to be running out of the box.
Can I use a IS20 on a 1.8t without a ecu tune?
if the engine ran without oil the turbo has suffered some damage as well.

I have spun that turbo by hand waaaaayy too many times. My bad!
Im curious to find out if i find a crashed all-track if i can bolt the rear subframe right up to my gti...
You would need at least the rest flor pan as well.
Designers do not have to repair what they create, feeling sorry for mechanics who to repair them
Is the turbo a straight swap? Is it any easier on a FWD car?
Straight swap, yes.
From the experience with a GTI (IS20 to IS38 swap, 3in downpipe), it was a lot easier that dealing with the propshaft in this video. I estimate turbo swap about 40% easier, downpipe about 80% easier for FWD.

Everth Arceta I’m saving for a used IS20 myself ;) so I’ve been reading a lot in that forum! I’m already at stage 2 with my 1.8t mk7 and I’m very happy with the tune, learning still about other stuff like spark plug replacement to avoid misfires (which I’m experiencing a little bit right now because I live in a country with hot climate around 90 degrees Fahrenheit) etc...

Video for guys who refuse to grow up. I'm not amused. If I lived around this shop I'd never take my car there for any work and yes I know this is their own car and they are just goofing around but I think if they want to people to take them seriously as a "tuner shop" they should do serious videos.
Stop staging, just say you are upgrading to a bigger turbo. There are no stages...... smh
