@@beastar55 - In my case the blades I obtained from a seller on Amazon were counterfeit and were so bad they were unusable. Didn't cut at all and pinched and pulled my whiskers. Hope this helps.
On the SH-50 the round holes on the shaving heads should have a vertical pattern of three holes then two holes. On the round holes of counterfeit heads there will only be a vertical pattern of two holes then one hole.
I got a replacement set online from what I thought was the Philips store on Amazon and now looking at it they are of course fake. I noticed worse performance right away with them pulling and not getting as close. Just ordered some direct from Philips site so hopefully they are real ones.
I have a pack in my Amazon cart and the seller does say philips not philis. We shall see when they come in. Thanks for the video. EDIT: they came in. They are authentic. No philis labeled anymore. Authentic Philips. Just make sure the seller on Amazon is Philips.
Thanks for the heads up! I was trying to find sh98/80 replacement blades & it’s impossible if you live in Canada, only 1 seller on Amazon nearly doubling the price! Even Philips Canada website doesn’t list it as available for purchase. Frustrating! Cheers.
2 year's for original blade , what is life for chinese blade . I got philips s5884/50 so ,bye or not to bye. Did chinese cut well as genuine. Thanks for answering to me.
barcode number cannot identify it is real or not because Philips can have different kinds of box set for one kind of shaver head in different countries
I've bought cheap replacements on Aliexpress. At least they weren't sold under Philips brand. They look exactly the same as those on a video. Their quality is awful. It's hard to get a good shave because they don't adapt to face shape like originals do. They cause more skin irritation and make shaver become more noisy. My own advice: stay away, don't waste your money.
I got the same type of situation. I ordered my blades from the Amazon Philips store and got a counterfeit. Besides the extra ring of holes, the internals are different as well. The real Philips blades have V-shaped blades on the outer ring and nine straight blades on the inner ring; the counterfeit has all straight blades with only five blades on the inner ring. The real Philips product also has a fit to the heads with no gap. The plastic housing was so poor on the counterfeit that I swapped the blades between the housings so they would even fit. The problem now is that it is hard to get Philips SH90 heads from a legitimate source.
I solved chatting with a Philips representative that gave me the correct link for blades sold directly by Philips trough Amazon. Ensure the vendor is Philips. Or ask them the direct link.
If you want counterfeit non functioning product get it on ebay. I ordered a set a few months ago and the packaging was perfect. I installed the head and it doesn't fit right and sounds odd and it shaves like crap. Only under high power magnification you see the differences. With ebay returning a product is difficult and will often cost you to return and the return window is small. So I got screwed again on ebay.
This review was only to IDENTIFY counterfeit blades without opening the package which is obviously very easy. This review was not intended to compare the quality of real to fake which obviously the fakes aren’t as good. And also, had I opened them, I would have been out $45 on the counterfeits. If you want an open package comparison of the blades, do it yourself. No one else has made a video so at least mine helps. Quit your bitching.
They're not counterfeit the ones you claim to be genuine are just the updated version of the supposed counterfeit ones, companies do that all the time.
I've done some research on this myself and I believe the video is correct in identifying the counterfeit blades. There is a newer version of blade that came out with the word Pro on it versus non-Pro. At first I thought this was the difference in blades but after i bought genuine Pro and non-Pro versions I saw that they both look the same as the genuine version in the video. would also like to add I too bought a set of replacement blades from Amazon and they were in fact counterfeit just as in this video. I went ahead and opened them and put them in my razor. In my case I bought the entire head. You can tell right away the head and razors are very cheaply made. The head didn't have a good fit on my razor and I had to put considerable pressure on it to mount it on my shaver. When I tried to shave with it was when you could really tell they are counterfeit. The blades were turning but it pulled and pinches my face and hardly cut a single whisker. Just terrible. Again, sacninesixteen is right on with his video in my opinion.
Ok, you bought 2 sets and went through the trouble to let us know what to look for. Not too sure most folks have the time to go through all that. Try contacting Norelco and see if there is any information on the box that determines, without a doubt, if the product is genuine Norelco. But that only helps if you are hands on at a brick and mortar. The information would have to be plainly visible on the box when shopping online.
Thanks for posting this. I ordered my replacement blades from Amazon a few days ago. I will refer back to this video again once it arrives.
so now what? can you use these anyway??

Yep. Mine are fake. Thanks!

You need to look at the blades closely. The genuine one has double blades. I mean the outside ones are doubled.

Maybe is a newer version? are you sure was counterfeit?
Where are these counterfeits coming from?
Very helpful! Thanks for posting this!!

SH91 heads replace the SH90 and provide a vastly superior shave (in terms of comfort).
does this apply to any blades or just these? i just ordered Philips PT720 heads.
If the quality looks suspect they are likely fakes. Use good judgement and use this video as a tool
You should open them. It turns out the counterfeit product also have much fewer cutting blades that are just straight (no V-form).
I knew it! Thank you !
so can i use these anyways? mine are in a bracket that seem different than the original
I would return them if it were me and but direct from Philips
They work well.

Could you share that link with us?

Are there any quality generic??
Buying direct from Philips usually works out cheaper than the counterfeit blades.
That doesn't mean that Amazon doesn't sell GENUINE blades.
How do you buy direct from Philips?
I was scammed on Ebay paying full Philips price for cheap copies, hard to tell, but they do not very lost long and squeal more as well
Yeah there out there!

What seller? There are dozens of them attached on one ASIN. I want to buy some for myself from Amazon.

Wrong dude. Even the orange removal tool is a knockoff.

Wrong pal. Norelco never made blades of that comb design used in the counterfeit ones.

You missed the most important comparison.... the blades. Next time do it completely and actually open the packaging. This is only half useful.
