Watched this vid a while ago. Just did one box side today with this stuff over top of a secret mix i make and it looks killer and took maybe 5 mins. Thanks bud
I love penetrol! I put it on my 98 tj last summer inside, outside, underneather, etc. Looked awesome! Oh with a chip brush too. I didn't top coat tho so it didn't last long.
Hey I watched this video and I am so glad i did! The clear coat on my international travelall ratrod is sweet! Thanks for making this! Made me feel all artsy painting the flood on lol lol lol
Looks great! Any idea how this finish would hold up to occasional gasoline? Thinking of finishing my motorcycle tank this way, but don't want gas splatter to mess up the finish.
If you didn't find out already, (I just came across this vid) gasoline (especially E10) will goo the Penetrol and can cause it to have runs, but will not effect the paint underneath. If the runs bother you, the Penetrol can be redone. Been using it on my tank for years, along with the rest of the bike, it kind of freeze frames the rust/finish deterioration in a time capsule. Guess that's the patina, huh? Enjoy!
Keith Petersen it is still glossy, but mine sits in the rain in NY weather, so it has dulled.. also ive found that its heavy. i can feel the weight difference in the doors. BUT it has given it a very old rust look
richy2race i didnt use sandpaper.. i used a Red scouring pad (red is coarser then green) 100 grit should work fine .. sand to your preference.. it just depends on how much clean metal you want showing
Cuttinthruchaos drying over night is your best bet. I did it outside in the evening and bugs were attracted to it, so if your doing outside, do it in the morning
Hair and Beard awesome. Yeah i’m between this and the boiled linseed oil. Did you try linseed oil at all or would you just recommend the penetrol? Also, thanks for the reply.
Great video! Thanks for posting! I did the doors of my patina C10 last night. I'm anxious to see how it turned out!
they say penetrol last about 3 years until another coat so is that true?I want it to last a while without havint to keep putting it on every so often.
This is the perfect rat rod finish thanks for sharing.
Glad you like it! Thanks 😊

Scarlett Lewis how did it turn out? Thanks
@@branchsnapper2228 turned out great! Wish i could share a photo on here
For undercoating, I was thinking of using penetrol and once dried top coating with cosmoline. What did you use for undercoating the frame?
Also in the beginning of your video you mentioned rat rod clear coat. What is that about? Thanks
How is this method holding up any updates?
ua-cam.com/video/58HP8rzBioQ/v-deo.html its been in the rain and snow for 2 seasons in NY.
Hi Kris. This video is great, thanks. Did you leave any rough rust areas or smooth out the entire truck?
Sick truck!
Why not roll it on brother?
Is Penetrol smooth to the touch, when it dries?
I just built a bare metal 64 c10. I used penetrol too. This stuff is amazing!!!!
Jay Marchese yea man, i love how it made it darker.. and aircraft remover is great to remove paint
Any pictures of how it has held up?
That is one cool ride

Can you was it after it cures? Does it offer UV PROTECTION?
I think it goes yellow after a while
Does CLR affect the paint?
Does the penetrol remain glossy even after it's dried completely? Thank you in advance.

How long does the "clear coat" last? Will it bond to bare steel?
Zach Toburen im on my second season out in the elements and it is still there . it also works on bare steel
@@hairnbeard , is this a particular flood penotrol, there's different kinds online
