      5:30 George Washington was the first constitutional president. In November 1781, John Hanson became the first President of the United States in Congress Assembled, under the Articles of Confederation.

    • @Caaro99
      @Caaro99 5 років тому +694

      Robert Morgan that’s just a generation, not a lifetime. 3-4 generations can be alive at the same time, but only one king/president can be alive at a time, so if one was a president from his election to death, then it would be still far less than 15. There could be a grandfather, father, and son alive at the same time. That’s three different gens, but only one of them is the king.

      Well, this is certainly fun. Since Washington didn't have children, it might have been difficult for him to name any relative his successor. Jefferson, Madison, James Monroe didn't have children or surviving sons. Maybe a nasty civil war with little John Adams as a top contender for the throne. I'm assuming that Hamilton still dies and that Aaron Burr is tarnished.

    I'd argue that Queen Brynda would still be the house of Washington, since her mother, Queen Odelle likely wouldn't have taken her husband's name, as he would've been "only" a prince-consort. Sort of like how Queen Elizabeth didn't take Prince Phillip's surname. Maybe it would be Hansen-Washington. The same with King Larry the 2nd. Queen Mary would've likely stayed Washington, with Larry being Shaffner-Washington.

      So many hypotheticals, but assuming the U.S. adopted the British protocols in place at 1776 and didn't follow changes the British monarchy made after, the surname of the queen's consort indeed would become the new royal house. When Victoria married Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, the royal house changed from the House of Hanover to the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. So, no, Queen Brynda would not reign under the House of Washington, but House of Hansen or the new royal house name from her husband's surname. Again, these are royal house names, and not considered the family surname.
      In 1917, when German Gotha bombers were attacking Great Britain, the King changed the royal house to the House of Windsor. He also adopted the royal house as a family surname (royals otherwise had no surname) for use by family members not known with the Royal Highness, Prince, or Princess designations. When Elizabeth became Queen in 1952, she kept Windsor as the family name and house name. Prince Philip's surname is an Anglicized form of his mother's maiden name, Battenburg, which was also German. Eventually the queen did hyphenate the surname to Mountbatten-Windsor for use by the family when needed, but did not change the royal house, so Charles, William, and George will all reign under the House of Windsor unless another change to protocol is made. For legal documents they use their title, such as Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge. Informally, I have seen where William and Kate use just Cambridge (i.e. William Cambridge and Kate Cambridge).

    Robert E. Lee showing up there as a royal consort (since he married George Washington's step-great-granddaughter) just makes me realize that even though the US isn't a monarchy, we do still have "royal" or "noble" families that have been at the center of American history as the centuries have gone by because they still had power and influence even after their [insert male ancestor here] was no longer president. The more recent American "royal" families would be the Roosevelts, Kennedys, Bushes, etc., but there is a good chance that older Presidential blood is still present in Congress, etc.

      Assuming that America's monarchy, had patterned itself on the British monarchy (which would've been very likely), the Custis-Lee line, would've been excluded because they have NO blood connection to George Washington. And since adopted children are excluded from succession to the throne, their claims to the throne, would've been tenuous...at best.
      As for the senior line, their only claim, is based solely upon the fact that Augustine and George, had the same father. And in monarchy, half-siblings, isn't quite good enough.
      Upon Washington's death, the crown would've had to pass to the line of his oldest FULL sibling. In this case, his brother Samuel. In the event that Samuel's line had died out, then, the throne would pass through the lines of his remaining brothers and sister.
      Had the Mount Vernon line died out completely, then, the crown would have to go to the senior line, by virtue of being the ONLY ones with Washington blood.

      That's what I was thinking. William Washington was a commissioned general at the time of George's death, Bushrod was on the Supreme Court. There probably would have been major intrigue between the two of them to seize power. George Washington Parke Custis, being only 18 at the time may have either ended up as the puppet of a 3rd Party like Alexander Hamilton or John Adams or have mysteriously "disappeared" to clear the way for one of the others.

      George Washington in the position of king would probably be very similar to Toyotomi Hideyoshi prior to the birth of Hideyori. He could very easily have a half dozen or more "proteges" and relatives dating from the Revolutionary War on who would vie for the throne.
      It's really to America's benefit that Washington willingly stepped down otherwise America may have fallen into an anarchic state leading to a very probably formal division of the country into several smaller blocks.
      Like if Hamilton did come out on top the Virginians probably would not take that lightly.

      On the other hand - his crazy choice keeps that important name in our memory, reminds theres always love mercy and forgiveness available. He waits patiently not to chastisw us, but to deliver us from the burden of our evil.
      God doesn't always use nicely beaving people for that, political correctness is not his policy, because he doesn't obey the politicians. It's more like he uses people who seem crazy or stuoid to many listeners. Because the message can sound crazy, that someone might give his life so that others could live forever. Just so he did. In a prayer you can experience that Jesus is real.
      Now he's back in the Heavenlies. Death can't hold something divine . God is immortal, he made life and death for us as the testing ground. The final test of humanity. So - do we want to choose death - or life?

    • @timomastosalo
      @timomastosalo 4 роки тому +2

      @aboctok No... God doesn't use the Word Trinity in the Bible. It just comes from the Command to bless people in their name. But already a gew centuries later some people tried to explain God as monolithic, that only Father was God. That would easier fit in our heads. So the Church
      fathers explained the Trinity enough in the greed.
      So we would take seriously what he says. Jesus does say things evry hear and there, which point towards him being one with the Father - just the term Trinity doesn't pop up. It's not wrong, if it's understood the 3 are one.
      The funny thing is, no matter how much Christians disagree on some questions - they have no problen recognizing the Trinity. St. Patrick - or rather Åadraig, he was welsh, explained it to the Irish with a glover of 3 leaves - there comes the Shamrock.
      God doesn't explain it all out in the Bible. Neither did he explain how the gravity Works. That's also a hint, what he doesn't explain, that's not a key issue in our relationhip with him.
      The key is that our morale is off, and we cause havoc on this planet. We don't even ned him to say that - we do realize it ourselves, if we are honest. But what he says is he wants to save, cure us from our own evil. Like a father who cares for his kids. He is that father because he made the first human beings.
      For our eyes it might look like evolution - but God doesn't say very specifically HOW he made us. Just that he created us from the dust of the earth. Well, we are made about the same substances as the soil - some ingredients in different proportions. But soil we become again, when we die. Our body, that is.
      But that's just a new beginning for our soul. Like we were first born into to this World through the birth tunnel of our mother. And how much we changed after that! The same can happen when we die. Many near death experiences have caused people to see a tunnel 'wormhole' they were going to the other side.

      @aboctok The finger idea has the point that they are so connected there¨s not needed such talk as you and me need. We are separated by the language we share, goes one linguistic joke. We people have hard time understanding each other.
      How they speak in the Heaven, is much effortless, in a prayer you can sometimes get a bit of a taste of that (Holy Spirit is the one who works during a prayer) - more like a married couple understands each other with facial expressions only, sometimes. So when Jesus says God says to him something, it's more like 'telepathy'.
      Na,ely, the whole connection of Father and Son is so seamless: they have never been apart from each other - before the universe was born, they had that. It's hard for us to get, because when we see a person we think that's where he starts and ends. And with people it's about there.
      But if an omnipresent God lands among us in human form - that form is not separated from the rest of God. Just like your finger isn't, or ear, or liver. We get considerables difficulties to our unity if those organs are removed, this is what we all know.
      Neither is God separated from some part of himself (herself wouldn't be off, or better - just as inadequate term for God as he, him etc.).
      God emphasizes the importasnce of the Trinity on the Bible. But doesn't say it leaves at that. Angels are alomg with that, though created. And we people are connected to Jesus, if we allow it. He said he's the wine tree, and we people are the branches.
      Those who stay separate are burned, because dry twigs don't produce fruit, Those that are linked to the stem (Jesus), revive, because they get the sap (Holy Spirit) from the roots (father). The fruits are something we should give to other people, so they would taste how good is God. And get the same tree planted in them.
      Also, inside our mother we get nutrients (Holy Spirit) only through one route: the naval cord (Jesus). Guess what: mother is representing God the Father in this metaphor :) And the naval cord sacrifices itself, when we are ready for the birth, the new world to come.
      Our biological father represents god, when he gives his seed of life, so we would be born a new being. Without that seed (Holy Sprit) from the father we won't move to the world to come. Then the maternal egg just dies. And all the potential what could happen in the next level of life, is just wasted.
      And God is all the time giving us hints trhough everything in uiverse he wants us part of the future - part of the story of life. Just like when we men produce seed there over abundance of them, so that even one of them would bring the message home - and new life would be born. That's why we believes speak about Jesus so much - we are sewing seeds.
      Pollen in nature comes in abundance. Bee males the drones, come in abundance (only one will mate the queen). Maternal eggs come in abundance, fisheggs. Sun sends its rays to the emptiness of space, and only a few them meet life here on Earth.
      Meeting God, going to Heaven: It's like getting back home - not a scientific puzzle only the smartest of humans can solve. Tha's our sour competitive minds thinking. If you have kids, you dom't care only for your most competitive kids - if you're any good in parenting. Of course we see our shortages in that task, dru dat.

      especially because apparently Robert E Lee only fought in the war on the confederate side after Virginia succeeded. He had loyalty to his state and was deeply torn as he admired George Washington and all he did. He was also in the union army before. It is interesting that loyalty to one's state at the time meant so much more than a country. Back when states rights were a very big deal- hence slavery being a diving thing that lead to the civil war- although wrong and a huge reason for the civil war many fought for their states primarily first as a duty.

    I have no evidence for this claim, just a hunch, but if the US did establish a monarchy I think it would have been a constitutional monarchy, like Britain, and the monarch would have been elected by the Senate, similar to Poland-Lithuania. Fun video though!

    • @hoopsmcgee8272
      @hoopsmcgee8272 5 років тому +30

      Since Madison and Jefferson won the debate, we would need to ask ourselves how to sell a monarchy to them. Since both believed that sovereignty resided in the individual states, it seems likely that the Senate would be the institution that elected the monarch rather than rotating electors based on favors. Second, I think the term the monarch had wouldn't be life, but probably a ten year term with a possible five year extension. So this monarch would not be an absolutist, rather, limited in power.
      I think the US monarch would have more control of the military, foreign relations, treaties, and have the ability to call snap elections for the House but not the Senate (Senate is mostly independent of monarch authority). I would even go so far as allowing the Senate a 3/4 majority veto of monarchical decisions. Essentially, the US monarch would be a combination of the current executive branch and what the prime minister is in the UK with more control over foreign affairs and the military.
