I got my first set of poi (veils) and so far ive been practicing at least an hour a day and your videos are so helpful, i had such a hard time finding tutorials for that kinda stuff
I’m a hooper here to learn a new flow skill. I was so excited when you said thread the needle because that’s a hoop move as well. All the poi tricks that I can already do is by accident from just knowing their hoop counterparts lol. So we’ll see how this one goes!
So I knew the thread the needle move anyway... So the first move really tested me there...woah! Then when you said about the amount of takes it took you... Well I just burst out laughing. Thanks again!
Of course! This is actually probably good practice for me since I rarely go back and revisit many of these beginner tricks and there's absolutely something to be said for being able to pull these techniques out at the drop of a hat.
My arms are aching just watching this & haven't got my Poi's yet 😂 I might just practice the moves from your previous video & this one while I wait. Great tutorials & can't wait to start this hobby 😊
I just started out thanks to your videos... but man I will have a hard time because my left hand is so rhythmicly underdeveloped it always loses track in the third spin. This little trick is gonna take me weeks to months to do properly. It kinda explains why I was never able to juggle for more than 4 steps. The only series I ever binge-watched were Stranger Things, The Mandalorian, and of course my beloved Love Death & Robots.
Love your videos! Idk why but seems like I can't get myself to switch my hands in the right way. I always get it wrong - but I will do it anyways until it works!
PS: It will be a short binge, due to few episodes, but I've burned through Better Off Ted, The IT Crowd and Fawlty Towers. Good moment for some laughter.
Thanks for al the content, it's really gotten me excited to try Poi more. At 4:30 you show a bit about how you switch the angle so the poi don't hit eachother. I'm having a hard time figuring this out when I'm just turning my wrists, do you have any tips to get better at that?
Most poi tricks are compatible with flags--I believe everything I teach in this series is. Things like throws and contact poi are not but all flowers and weaves definitely are compatible.
I'm getting the butterflies down somewhat well after two days, but I really need to invest in a jock strap. I have sacked myself too many times learning various tricks...
I work at night as a taxi driver in Petaluma California I have a lot of spare time I don't have any writers but I can stand outside my taxi in front of the bar so I guess it's a great a great place to show off my new talent
Me, quasi ambidextrous because the world ain't made for Lefties: But I can do either hand on top? Look, I can even alternate which one each time, nbd! When Drex introduces Thread the Needle: OoO
Hey drex. Thank you for doing these videos. Hope you are keeping safe. I'm struggling with my poi tangling at the bottom of thread the needle. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
So far so good! So your problem here is actually the exact same one that I pointed out with the poi running into each other at the top: the planes have to be slightly off angle from each other. Whichever hand is on top, try and see if you can angle out the bottom of its plane farther away from you and that should help. Good luck!
@@DrexFactorI'm having the same problem here. I tried the off angle technique like you said but for some reason, the poi isn't moving to the angle I want. Is there way to have better control to do the off angle technique?
@@TheRawrdt I'm having the same issue. I just started this tutorial today and can get about 4 "flaps of butterfly wings" (how do you word that?) before they tangle or I hit myself, and *if* I'm lucky I can get about one plane shift for thread the needle before the same thing happens, but I'm probably just impatient lol.
There’s actually no way this guy started a tutorial off talking about how he wasn’t that traumatized because he couldn’t find pasta or toilet paper for five minutes. Truly mind boggling
Game of Thrones...esp the episode where the Night King is dealt to...what do we say to the God of Death....Not Today....yesss. I could watch that episode again and again
I have an issue with your Pat your head and rub your belly statement I've been able to do that since I was five and rub my head and Pat my belly I must just be a pretty coordinated person
I did actually buy this t-shirt before that last season went south (it was an impulse buy after Arya owned the Night King) but it's still too cool to retire, so here we are! I've never actually read The Dark Tower. Worth it?
If we're doing binge reading, Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. First few are just sort of standard fantasy parodies, and then he turns into a genius. Sadly, early-onset Alzheimer's took him away from us, and I think impacted the last few books. But dang, a very, very, very, very, very, very funny writer.

These are such great tutorials. Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for the video man. I've only been spinning for a month now and your tips have helped me a lot. Glad to here your shopping experience went well.
Me three! And I'm glad to hear that these videos are helping :) Please post video when you're able and tag me in it!
I’m great at butterflies and this video helped me teach a friend better. Thank you!!!
Your videos are so clear! thank you!
Cheers brooo I'm just starting spinning and I'm already hooked
I’ve been loving Curb your enthusiasm and Seinfeld, Larry David’s humor honestly makes me cry sometimes it’s so funny.

Thank you so much for all your very thorough videos... your style of training is very easy to absorb.
Thank you for breaking it down
Awesome, I am teaching myself

I’ve binged so many things. Where to start. Vikings is pretty up there though.
Yeih! I just did it. Like how you teach it. Thanks so much for the video😃🙏🏽
Great stuff, sharing with friends, thanks for the work you do on these!

Was tricky but did it including thread the needle 😁 Love your videos.
Ur such a great teacher!

just go my flowtoy poi - Thank you for doing these lessons! I had no idea how to start. I will check out your website as well. 😁
Well I watch a lot of car fixing shows things that we have hot rods in the motorcycles cuz I'm really into vehicles like .
Thanks for this!
So cool
So question can you learn all poi tricks on spin flags ? I’m definitely tempted to try learning this on my spin flags.
Most poi tricks are compatible with flags--I believe everything I teach in this series is. Things like throws and contact poi are not but all flowers and weaves definitely are compatible.

Ive been watching a cool comedy show out of Canada called Still Standing. Its been on Amazon Prime.

Jaaaaaaii thank you so much for it sohappy
Yay love this
thanks for the vids :)
I'm rewatching Community and Bobs Burgers. I need goofiness in my life.
So there is something I don’t understand. The hand that is the most far away interferes with the spin of the poi in the back..as my hand blocks it.
I have found my answer in the video :) still pretty hard for me. Thank you for you great content and teachings! Love it
the new season of la casa
Ugggfh mine keep going forward diagonal instead of sideways
And what do we say to death?
This Is so difficult. I default to split time and it's so hard to resist that.

Yeah?
Learned, not yet mastered.
take a shot every time he says yah
I watched series AO on Netflix. Ive had some difficulty doing many of the moves... Until I watched myself in the mirror.
Dude a mirror helped me a *lot* with yoga, I never thought to use one while spinning (even if I only started doing the latter three days ago). Tyvm!
my binge watch was Survivor.

Castlevania on Netflix!
Quarantine show: Lost
i hit my balls trying to do this :(
I hit one of my breasts. :( At least there's less chance of eye injury with this one...
Great video! Love your shirt! Love Game of Thrones!😁✌🔥 I'm actually binge reading Stephen Kings, The Dark Tower Series for covid-19.

@@DrexFactor I think they are worth it! It's my favorite story that he's done😁❤
