Very simple solution to this hell of a job. Fit a disco drop arm and drag link. It uses a regular ball joint which can be fitted in minutes and even drop arm removal is dead easy.
After doing this twice in less than a year I couldn't face it again (laid down, gravel, rain, puddle - you know the drill...) so I bought the drop arm removal tool and Gwyn Lewis' Discovery drop arm conversion kit.
Nearly every arm I've had has had the lip that holds the gaiter on broken off , due to folk not changing the joint right. I just use the Gynn Lewis kit and change to D1 style arm now with a trackrod end. I've also had problems with MOT testers not realising how bad the original joints are even when replaced with a new one and them failing a replacement joint.
First one of those I did took me a full day, and every swear word I knew. Reiny90 has commented that a disco drop arm is a possible swap, and it has a regular old ball joint on it. Can you confirm Mike... please!!

I did exactly the same a couple of years ago. So much easier.
Have replaced the joint on the car using the puller tool, wasn’t too bad but picked a dry warm day 😊
Good stuff!
Good job and video

Yes it will fit, but you need the bracket for the steering damper
