89001 - Testing the slip/slide system

In late September sunshine we continued work on 89001. This time we are testing the wheel slip and slide system on the locomotive. To do this test one of our engineers inside the locomotive operates a test box to simulate either a slip or slide condition which the locomotive's systems then convert into a brake application or brake release on an individual axle, the engineer outside the locomotive is checking the operation of the brakes.
While this testing was going on several other volunteers were working on the locomotive, watch out for the driver's seat appearing in the doorway!
