I have recently started to use the Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow. I switched from Timeless due to oxidation issues. I also appreciate saving some money by switching to the G&G Vitamin C ($14). G&G also sells a small dropper to help extend the shelf life of the Vitamin C. Reducing the number of times I open the primary bottle and refrigerating the primary dropper bottle should significantly extend the life of the Vitamin C. PS The Vitamin C in the small dropper bottle (not refrigerated) was still totally clear in week 5. I expect this is a result of fresh Vitamin C shipped directly from G&G.
I refrigerate the Maelove glowmaker, and use it every morning. Very happy with its gentle feel, relative to the irritation I experienced from the Timeless formula.
I love Dr. Brenner Vitamin C. It's the only Ascorbic Acid formula that does not irritate my skin. I also felt my skin brighter and tighter. I also use 0.025% Tretinoin at night twice a week.
Hello! I just discovered your lovely duo and I am so happy to find your channeL!! It is something that others don't provide - going into geeky details that I hit the wall to try to understand myself when I run into tables of "solution" that are not standardized etc..:) Thank you and please don't stop!:))) Question: Based on everything you said about Vit C, is it more effective to use it in the morning or same effective if used at PM?:)
Y’all are SO right about the Ordinary formula. I was using it for a while, and just trying to get through it but after a while, I threw it away because it made me so irritated and itchy. Oily feeling & takes along time to sink in😩
Hi love your videos. I just want to say. I have TIMELESS VIT C and I have had no issues. I also keep it in the refrigerator. I am just over 3 months using and have not noticed any bad changes in the serum. I also buy direct from TIMELESS. This is the 3rd bottle I have purchased and had no color change on any of them.
Yes! This is totally the way to go. We followed up and tested the new Timeless Vitamin C in a glass airless and that packaging is so much better. It's still a great dupe!
@@ChemistConfessions That’s good to hear. I’ve had my Timeless C serum in the fridge for almost 11 months now (yikes 😬), and it’s just starting to show a hint of color. I was going to shop for a new brand but I will definitely check out their glass bottle instead. My only complaint was that the bottle leaked a little occasionally from the bottom. They sent a replacement bottle but that one leaked also. Lol it’s definitely time for a new bottle LOL
also don't feel bad about forgetting it in the fridge for 11 months. we once found a forgotten bottle of CE ferulic in the closet some 2.5 years later... and it had exploded 😅😅@@FrenchCocoa369
Thanks for investing into getting the dupes and trying them out. Were the products accelerated to the six months level use in three weeks in a conventional oven? Or a specialized oven? I appreciate the inclusion of an anhydrous (waterless) Vitamin C formula. Are there any anhydrous Vitamin C winners? I do like the idea of more stability.
this first test we only tested 3 weeks in a specialized oven designed for these types of studies For the anhydrous ones, I think it's pretty subjective. The stability's all decent, but grittiness and formula texture is a bigger deal than stability for those products. I find products that solubilize vit C in non water solvents to be a bit irritating. Of the suspensions, Kiehls was the least gritty at least of the ones I've tried. Hope that helps!
Great video, as always. I don't know if anyone cares, but that The Ordinary vitamin C makes my eyes puff up like I got beat up. Literally, I can't go outdoors it was so bad when it happened. So I wonder if it is the propanediol or if it's the ethyl-LAA. I tried the same type of ethyl-LAA in a Paula's Choice vit c eye cream and it happened again so I just avoid that particular vitamin c. LAA works great otherwise! No issues with the Paula's Choice Vitamin C featured here or any other LAA.
Question: some claims that it okay even with a bit higher ph because they add penetration enhancer ingredients in their formulation and charge it to new technology. is it true even though there is no/limited studies on this?
Do you know about that initial vitamin C study (on the pig) that said after 20% had a negative efficacy effect. I haven't seen any follow up on that. Lots of formulas seem to jack up the percent, and I wonder if it's having a negative effect. Or if I use mine both day and night, if I'm negating the benefits.
Hmm feel free to send us the reference! I don't believe it causes a negative effect but definitely data on not having any additional benefits with concentrations above 20%.
Enjoyed this video! I want so much to use Vitamin c serum and I've tried most. They all make me break out. I suspect it is the vitamin e. Any suggestions? Is the vitamin e crucial in the formula? Thanks for any insight you could share
This is a new perspective for me. From what I’ve heard everybody talk about is that airless pump is the best way to store vitamin C and maintain stability. Do you disagree with that ? If yes then why
Ehhh with Vitamin C, it's more that there isn't a perfect solution. There's a lot of work done to optimize glass droppers (from material, processing, to filling) and there's quite a variance in the quality of airless pumps. So it really depends... I can say there are definitely better airless pumps out there than the old Timeless plastic airless pump.
@@ChemistConfessions do you have a product in mind that is a vitamin c in a good airless pump? timeless changed their bottle to glass airless pump as well but it’s inexpensive so there is a limit to how good it can get from there. But probably better than the super expensive drop bottles that oxidize?

that's super helpful! I was thinking of trying G&G also cuz the Timeless one started oxidizing really quickly.

Thank you ladies for putting in the work and all the wisdom 🙏🏻
You're welcome! :')
Can you please summarize information and put in the newsletter? Some of us just want this instead of blogs.

Hello and welcome to skincare nerd town! Based on the clinical study design, you can use it AM or PM, it doesn't matter.
i've tried the glass bottle for the Timeless vitamin c and i have to say it's night and day compared to the plastic bottle.
Thanks for confirming our suspicions!
Saw some amazing amazon reviews and ended up here after looking for UA-cam reviews. Im so excited to try your products.
!!! welcome!

the octonauts are a british television show for kids to teach them about marine life! i love them
Once Gloria shared about Octonauts, I've heard about this show multiple times. Apparently great content right up there with Bluey.

40:32 when my timeless serum becomes this colour, do i need to throw it away?
nope! for the most part (aside from cosRX) these are still good!
I know you guys did speak about this, but isn't there some really promising research and results for THD-Ascorbate?
Love your content so much! Wondering what you think about the current trend of swapping out vitamin c with copper peptides?
Thank you! That's news to us...why?
I've heard cooper peptides are better???
That’s a good question! I think some folks have been dating that they see better improvements in their skin with copper peptides than vitamin c?
Question: some claims that it okay even with a bit higher ph because they add penetration enhancer ingredients in their formulation and charge it to new technology. is it true even though there is no/limited studies on this?
Our questions would be: 1. How much of a higher pH? 2. Sure penetration enhancers could help... do they have a study?
