Hello everyone here is the clickable link for www.foreignmre.com if you get a few minutes check them out they are in the United States and have super fast shipping, thanks again and have a good day.
we dont have corn syrup in UK i think its always been banned due to health ,we use glucose syrup or honey for most sugar bindings of cereal bars and sesame bars etc
Personally I would always use cold water/milk for Muesli. If it was Oat blocks then you could use hot water/milk to make porridge rather than eating as a biscuit. When I was in the British Army many years ago (Menu by letter not numbers) we didn't get any cutlery included as we were expected to carry the metal ones we were issued with. We also had Hexamine Cookers and our Mains normally came in tins, Cheese was a harder (Processed Cheese) which also came in a tin. The pack always contained a little Tin Opener and we had tubes of Condensed Milk.
The sticky toffee pudding is a dessert and it is supposed to be heated (or at least warmed) up before opening. It can be treated as a boil-in-the-bag. Typically a UK service person might put it in one of the rectangular issued aluminium mess tins, in some water, and then heat it on one of those issued rectangular hexamine stoves (the folding type). Having heated the water-enclosed pudding, or even one of the main meals, the residual hot water can then be used to make tea or coffee or a hot version of one of the fruit drink powers.
Don't forget every British fighting vehicle has a boiling vessel (BV) which is basically a big kettle, which can be used for heating up the rations and making tea, because God knows the entire British Army would mutiny if they had to go 24 hours without tea.
@AD Wintle. Very true about the kettle. There's a story about when the MOD had a Challenger II ready for first trials they gave it to some lads from the RTR for evaluation. They liked it overall but commented one vital piece of equipment was absent the "Cooking Vessel" or as we know it the BVE. common in all British AFV's since the Centurion. It seems the crew was quite concerned by the lack of suitable tea making equipment.
If you are going to do more big meals like these, perhaps consider breaking it down into three meals. It would feel more organized and you wouldnt be so pressed for space on the tray. You wouldn't have to eat them all back to back or even in the same day. Eat them when you can, then edit it all into on video Also, it't not about wasting plastic spoons because they are expensive, its about not creating so much trash.
It must be a cold weather MRE because sticky toffee pudding here in UK is what we call a Rib sticker. Served piping Hot with Custard....YUM YUM....a hearty pudding perfect for a cold night. Great Video thanks
It is a middle East ration pack that's why there is so much drinks as British people if it gets above 25 start sweating buckets what happens in the 40s in afgan
Maybe in the future you should break the meals into breakfast lunch and dinner? You can still have them all in one video but would be much more enjoyable to watch then trying to jam everything into one lol.
How do they expect a squaddie to survive 24hrs on such little tea? The Army's gone downhill since I served! Great vid, as always. FYI the sticky toffee pudding should have been hot..the caramel is a sauce.
Lol yeah things have really changed since I first joined up, I mean my enlistment got the last of the 2nd world war ration packs during training lol, we had to actually cook the hot meals on our stoves. Mre with the flameless heaters were a dream. We did also try out some self heating cans but they were too bulky to carry around in the quantities you needed for the day
@@robashton8606 I can munch biscuits brown all day long (must have a masochistic streak in me). they use pumpkin seeds in the musli so it is nut free, that way they dont have to worry about nut allergies, saves having to make two versions.d egberts coffee is well known in europe. the breakfast tea is a strong blend, the other is usually a weaker blend, however speaking as a brit typhoo tea is quite strong, it is my favourite, it is what we would call a builders blend tea.

You need a genuine British army OSPREY 58 pattern 1 litre bottle with 500ml plastic cup to do British ration packs any justice. These are the multi climate ration packs so are now better designed for hot countries and do not include Chocolate any more as it melted in the heat, but includes a lot of drinks to help keep you hydrated. I love eating British army 24hr multi climate ration packs when I can afford to buy them.
Sticky toffee pudding should be heated! never seen the hot sauce before? (normally mini tabasco sauce) the cheese spread is awesome on brown biscuits, and if you manage to get a UK MRE with the lamb hot pot, its awesome! great vids mate.
Having served in the British Army I am surprised there was no Hard Tack Biscuits or Crackers to put the Tuna on. Those Biscuits look fine for the Chocolate spread and the Peanut Butter but I don't think I would put the Tuna on them which makes the una look like an after thought.
The coffee is Dutch, pronounced Dow Egg Burts in the UK. The sticky toffee pudding is definitely ment to be served warm, but your forgiven, your American, which is cool. When ever we ate the bean stew we'd make "Blazing Saddles" jokes and demand extra tissues 😃 🤣. Ps. When it says add "500ml" on a British drink base it's a typo, read 300ml or it tastes like crap. Have a great day!
Yay Nathan, new review and a long one. I want to try one of these soon too. It is funny I don't like tuna but several years ago where I live you could buy the tuna in a pouch and I liked that it was fresher and much less fishy, now I can't find it anymore.
Who cares if it was a long video. It killed the time and was definitely quite an interesting review. I dug it and will probably buy a few now, just not menu 10.
I was disappointed to see that there were no biscuits brown. It would have been interesting to see what effect they had after consuming cold sticky toffee pudding. Something rather like concrete, I imagine.
You have had "leakers" on more than one video. If I am to pay $50, $60, or $80 bucks for an MRE that is relatively brand new, and it comes to me busted, I will be pissed off. It's not the fault of the USPS in shipping. I mean really, do our combat troops get busted MRE's when in the field?
I know from what friends in the service said is that usually a RatPack has something you don't care for so it gets dumped then you cherry pick what's left putting some in your Bergen and the snacky stuff in your pockets for a quick munch on the go. The first thing you get rid of is the box...too bulky.
Treat some of the food as boil in the bag grub (there is a clue in the way they are packaged). British troops are issued with a hexi stove, fuel, and mess tins for that purpose. And what the hell were you trying to do with the sesame bar? You have layered bars/snacks in the US (Snickers, various wafer bars). It's not difficult, open gob, place food in gob, bite down, chew on portion in gob until it's OK to swallow. Cold sticky toffee pudding...sheesh!

Oooh. They look much better. Like the windshield, and the fact that the fuel is wrapped properly so will last longer (I once found some old blocks in the boot of my car and tried to use them). Never served (they wouldn't have me), but started using army kit in my teens (Venture Scout). Now use a mix of kit.

Portions in this are so irrational.

The ration is made with the number of calories an active soldier under combat conditions would require for a 24hr period, the portions reflect that.
