She was signed to a label who held her back for years and wouldn't let her release any music,she was told she would never gain a fan base , definitely their loss ! I’d say this song is more about her singing about falling back into old bad habits/self-destructive behaviour. Using drinking, drugs and sex to numb/distract from heartbreak, (“Doctor, doctor, anything please. Doctor, doctor, have mercy on me. You’re asking me my symptoms doctor, I don’t wanna to feel”) and being around enablers that see her self destructive behaviour, but just feed into it. You can see her progressively get more out of control as the song goes on until the end when she’s stumbling around not sure where she is, then collapses in the street and one of those weird girls just picks up her phone instead of helping her.

although this isn’t the best song to demonstrate her vocals, i’m glad you guys still noticed her range! would definitely recommend her live performance of ‘oscar winning tears’ at the royal albert hall for a better look at that voice. She’s one of those performers that, imo, sounds better live than in the studio.
