So basically raye has been around for a very long time, but was stuck in a toxic record label that didnt let her go out of the generic pop genre. She finally got out of the record label and is now making her own music and at the brits she made history with winning 6 brit awards

Raye has been a song writer for a long time. She recently wrote Riverdance with Beyoncé for the Cowboy Carter album!

She was stuck with a bad record label that didnt let her do anything except write songs for other big artists and be on pop dance tracks. You would be suprised how many songs you know that she did the vocals for. She has been working on her debut album for 7 years, and finally got out of the record label and was able to release it and is getting the recognition she deserves being an independent arist. She recenly won SEVEN record breaking awards at The Brit Awards, you would definitely enjoy her perfomance on there. But when shes performing live she likes to switch the song up, for example, this Escapism sounds like a completely different song than what is is on the album. Definitely check out her album and music videos to fully grasp how she is as an artist.♥
Kind of like a Victoria Monet in a sense. Or even Bebe Rexha. I love to hear when artists can escape the hell record labels put them through. I'm definitely going to check out more of her art.

Yep, Raye is another amazing UK artist. Fun fact - she’s worked with Perrie from Little Mix on a song for Perrie’s upcoming solo album (can you imagine what they’ve come up with!) having previously had writing credits in LM songs. And your LM fave Leigh-Anne is a huge fan of Raye.

She's actually worked with all three LM girls (Perrie, Leigh-Anne, and Jade) on their solo albums, I heard her talking about it in an interview.
Before her breakthrough as solo artist, she wrote songs for other acts, namely Beyoncé, Little Mix, Rihanna, David Guetta, John Legend and Ellie Goulding.

when you've got the time you should def listen to her live album at the royal albert hall. the arrangement on that is CRAZY. full choir, full orchestra, and just the wildest energy. been listening to it nonstop for like 2-3 months haha
Everyone has already told you to watch Oscar Winning Tears Live from the Royal Albert Hall, but you should also hear escapism from the same concert. Personally, I think it’s the best rendition of the song she’s done so far.
you should react to the studio versions you will be surprised how different they sound from the live. She is a great artist.
If you ever get to watching the gift Beyoncé lion king album it also has a visual album like lemonade. It’s called “black is king” There is a documentary to it as well (just look up lion king the gift documentary it’s on UA-cam) where Beyoncé talks behind the scene of each song. Raye is in that documentary bc she help co-wrote the first song on the album called “bigger” in an interview raye said she kept raye vocals in the background too. Raye is so talented you’re gonna love her. Adele posted her album on her instagram story the day raye album came out. Adele rarely post anybody’s album that’s a big feat!

Absolutely love this woman. My 21st Century Blues was the album of the year for 2023 by far. Have to say that you need to check out some of her other live performances, as this was definitely toned down for an american audience. She's literally missing out every other word from the original tracks 😂😂😂

I discovered Raye’s talent from her NPR Tiny Desk. I had heard Escapism because it’s a bop, but it doesn’t really showcase the fact that she is a full-fledged jazz singer. Not only is she a hella talented songwriter, but you hardly ever hear jazz-styled singers in popular music and it’s so nice to hear.

Raye has been big in the UK for a while now so very happy that she's starting to break into the US. You should definitely check out her Royal Albert Hall performance.
She was stuck in a toxic record label deal for years and they wouldn't let her release the music that she really wanted to and basically type-cast her as a feature artist on generic dance songs. She finally got out of that deal and went independent and immediately had a no.1 hit in the UK. She has recently broken records by winning 6 Brit Awards in one year (the previous was 4). She's also written multiple songs for Beyonce, Little Mix, Rita Ora, Charli XCX, J Lo and many more.
