when it come to glue I'm like CNN I thought that was funny and showed my wife that she laughed I laughed and then she said since you aren't working I would love for you do that in dining room I stopped laughing!!!
@@dokmanian 👍👍👍 I’ll be sure not to show my wife any of these, though we have a small room she uses as an office, and this certainly would spruce it up.
@@StudioLB Second the use of frog tape. Came her to post a similar comment after I saw the paint ripped. This guy is such a pro I'm really curious why he's opted not to use it.
I'm glad you showed the little mishaps like the sheen not matching and then wall paint pealing ,right at the end of the job. That's how jobs actually go. Lol Good Job Man ✌
As a painter Sherwin Williams, and I believe Home Depot too, has Frog Tape which is green, does much better at leaving paint on the walls, even if left for days. Also frog tape also comes in yellow and it’s even more gentle. Not quite sticky enough for my needs most of the time but sometimes it’s exactly what I need. Give it a try!
Hey Richard, if the paint peeling when removing tape is a common issue, you can buy a hand paper masker. Use yellow low tack tape with 8 to 12 inch wide paper and tape to bottom of the crown as usual, then you can tape your plastic to the paper. Generally, when paint peels off the sheetrock like that it's due to not priming walls before applying finish coats or the mud joints where not dusted before priming. I appreciate you taking your time to video your work and explaining every step. Stay safe out there.
@@GODLOVERBAM it means wiping off the dust after sanding the drywall joints. If you leave the sanding dust on the joint, the paint is adhering to the dust and that isn't attached to the wall and can easily come off, even with low tack tape.
Get a couple of drywall hanging benches. They have a 4 ft long platform and the legs can be adjustable to different heights. They save moving ladders around so much.
Love your maturity that you didn’t get rattled by the peeling paint and having to get a different paint to match existing sheen, you are a true professional. Love what you answered to one of the comments that you give a set price and don’t charge extra trying to milk the client so not only the quality of your work and the clean execution sets you apart but also the strength of character. Retired but glad to learn from you. GOD bless!
Show the plans used to do this ceiling. I believe it is the one that will work in my home. Low ceiling but need something to ‘dress’ it up and that’s what I like about what you do. Did my powder room and laundry room with some of the work you have shown us. Love it as well as my wife does!! 🥰
Absolutely Beautiful and A JOB WELL DONE! I am a remodel contractor in the Albuquerque Area and the biggest challenge is finding people that will do good work. It is very hard to find good people that really will take the time and pride and do a good job for their customer. I always say, " FINISH WORK IS VERY TIDIOUS AND TIME CONSUMING." If your not the right kind of worker that can take his/her time to finish the job to get an overwhelming compliment from your customer, then this is definitely not the trade for you. ( You can tell by the expression on a customer's face) how they feel about your finished work. I have had both (-) and (+) expressions on previous experiences. And the (+) are the best reviews and referrals. And the (-) are redos and you will not get a positive review and referrals. So, the point is- DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. GOOD JOB BOYS! I wish your were in the Albuquerque area. BTW: One final comment- The best always cost a little more than cheap! trust me! I am a homeowner and I will never again hire the cheapest bidder! It never pays. My grandfather said this in Spanish, "siempre el barato sale carro." I think I spelled it right. In English, " Always the cheapest cost much more." Take care. Thumbs up from Albuquerque, NM!
Holy crap! I have a totally new respect for you and your abilities with your craft. I’m doing base boards in my house with rounded corners and I’m about to blow a gasket out of frustration! NOT EASY! Well done good sir!
Warming the masking tape before peeling is effective, but also the angle you pull the tape. Try pulling it back slowly over itself. It puts less stress on the underlying paint. Of course, if the drywall wasn't thoroughly dusted before its first coat of paint, peeling is inevitable.
Another great job. Awesome out come! We use tons of tape putting up plastic for dust proofing. I find the green tape, and peeling straight back across the tape does less peel tear out on existing paint. It's worth it to get up on the ladder and go around carefully peeling it straight back across itself. So many times I've stood on the floor and peeled off the tape from a doorway to be like oh no! Then have to scramble and find touch-up paint that matches. Or end up painting entire walls
"When it comes to glue I'm like a CNN............" Nicely done Richard ;-). I like the way you switch hands to cut on the other side of the saw, so many contractors do the reach across method which can ultimately change their lives (and profession). Ceiling is great. Stellar job.
I appreciate how you are on the job and trying to get finished, but still find time to explain to us what and how you are doing your work. Learned a lot since you started this v series
You should pick up some Zip wall poles at Lowes to help support the base when you are lifting it into place. As light as that is they should work perfectly and are reusable! Great work
I love using CA as well, but for those not familiar, it does not take stain if you are not painting it. Just like most other glues. Oh, that shallow coffer was a great idea, and that project came out great.
Really enjoy your channel, one piece of advise when pulling tape pull it at a sharp angle, like in the video where you started pulling tape, but you can see as you change the angle more paint comes of. It's harder for the paint to lift with a sharp angle, it's not perfect but can by you some grace. Enjoy, I'm learning new tricks all the time. Blessings
When you pull your tape off you dont ever want to have outward shear pressure. that is why the paint came off. You want to pull the tape slowly down and 45 degree angle back over itself. looks beautiful great job.
Very nice work. I really like the look of coffered ceilings and was hoping to use it in my house, but with only 8 foot ceilings I wasn't sure it was realistic. This gives me another option to consider.
Try using frog tape. It won’t peel paint and it prevents paint from bleeding below it. As I painter, it’s what I always use and worth paying the extra dollars!
One of my top 5 favorite projects you've done. I know you've done some killer stuff but, like I said really diggin this one!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
I freaking love it when you say things like you did about the smoke detector wires. I was showing my wife that video, I started laughing and told her there would be some clowns that would lose their minds over it. Nice work, we dig your approach and your continued sarcastic wit.
Great Video Use yellow frog tape and slowly pull downward at an angle to remove the tape. It’s better to move slowly than need to touch up all that missing paint. You’ll never get it to match
i like to see your work flow. great tips here. we always pin each piece on individually but I think your method of preassembly using CA glue is a much smarter way. less holes to fill and perfect joints every time. just gotta make sure that saw cutting perfect 45s
Looks really good brother really good my dad is this The Carpenter's glue put a little bit on and then used to take a small little tiny metal tube paint brush really small just brush it on the joints each side and stick them together but the ceiling is looking beautiful
Looks awesome brother! You are a true craftsman and love the humor! Have you ever tried ipg Intertape instead of the blue I get it from sherwin all we use here.
Looks great. Thanks for sharing great ideas, tips, and content. When will we see your office completed? Looking forward to seeing that done and painted.
Great job. What type of airless and nib did you use? Sucks when the tape takes off existing paint. Maybe frog tape? Your saw makes nice meters. Dude you are so calm. I curse a lot when I work lol.
It seems like painters tape sticks much better after getting wet. It may be worth pulling every day at a small job. I have more experimenting to do, but the blue tape adhesive does seem to bite harder after getting wet. Watching the paint peel off just breaks your heart.
When you peel tape from that distance peeling the paint off is a foregone conclusion. Stay close and pull from the bottom up at an angle as you go. Just about 6” at a time then fingers back to where the table is still bonded and repeat,
Turned out well. Nice look for a room with a lower ceiling. I have thought about doing some similar in my bedroom but half my house has vaulted ceilings and I think the combo might look odd.

If you have trouble with tape damaging existing paint try using a hairdryer to warm the tape as you remove it. This has worked for me may times.
I agree on the 45 also pull the tape down flat against the wall slowly.
I like using the yellow low-adhesion frog tape rather than that blue stuff, you get less pull-off.
@@StudioLB Second the use of frog tape. Came her to post a similar comment after I saw the paint ripped. This guy is such a pro I'm really curious why he's opted not to use it.

Use different tape, blue tape, white tape, orange tape is strong, blue is the way to go

"mud joints were not dusted" what does that mean?
He means the plaster joins like if it was square stopped sanded and not dusted b4 priming the paint comes right off
@@GODLOVERBAM it means wiping off the dust after sanding the drywall joints. If you leave the sanding dust on the joint, the paint is adhering to the dust and that isn't attached to the wall and can easily come off, even with low tack tape.
