  • When Lebanon was rocked by a massive explosion at the port of Beirut, filmmaker Mounia Akl came face-to-face with chaos -- and the power of art to create some sense of order. In this poetic, moving talk, Akl shares the story of how she and her crew finished their film as the city recovered from disaster, discovering the truth that comes out of us in times of crisis and creating a new understanding of home in the process.

This is a story that really shouldn't be taken for granted...
Despite all the hardships the crew went through they still managed to finish the film, they should really be proud of themselves!
Her speech was also beautiful :)

An inspiring presentation. The fluent delivery was matched by the lyrical content, with references ranging from Kahlil Gibran and Maya Angelou. Her message gives hope to all who live in conflict zones, where life is uncertain and destruction an everyday events. A story of resilience in which the film becomes a vehicle for catharsis. A wonderful way to start the day. Thank you.

I am half Lebanese and I'm currently wearing socks from a Lebanese company with little lightning bolts all over it and written in Arabic wrapped around the ankle is a sarcastic "There's electricity!" because it's so unstable. Lebanon is so much all at once.

I found my creative side a little less than a year ago when i started making youtube videos .. and i can honstly say its the best thing i did … i belive everyone should have a creative outlet .. have you found yours yet ?

Great that you found yours and continue with the flow! I totally agree with you, the sense of creativity should always stay nearby. Makes for a life with the chance of experimentation for fun and the excitement!
I'd say I found my creative side around 3 years ago, also when I started making UA-cam videos. Eventually I've been raising my expectations to direct short-films and I really dig it! No matter the difficulty you should always welcome creativity with open arms! It will help you :)
