Ok some history about Hotel Bristol! Open in 1924, it was the oldest hotel in the city and it has a legendary status in Skopje’s history. It has many stories connected to it. It’s mentioned in “Black Lamb and Grey Falcon” by Rebecca West who had a romantic affair with a man there. There is a very old walnut tree in the garden of the hotel that was a romantic gift and it’s also explained in an old book “Црно јагне, див Балкан”. Zorba the Greek died in the hotel. And in 1995, there was an assassination attempt on the first ever president right outside via a car bomb. Unfortunately it officially closed down in 2012 and it’s in complete neglect now, like many things in this country
