In my eyes both teams deserved to win, because they fought to the very last second in every game they played. Finland and Russia both never had it easy in the tournament, they managed to overcome their hardships time and time again and they never gave up the fight until the game was finally over. Gotta say that, even though I'm a Finn and I'm not a big fan of Russia, I still have to give that Russian team credit (everyone except their captain Kamenev because he lost his cool) for showing the whole world why they were playing in the final in the first place. But they'll be back. They'll be back even stronger, even hungrier, even more determined to win gold, that much I'm certain. Russia is not to be ignored, especially if you take a look at the World Junior medallists of the last 6 years
Two very strong, tough and resilient teams fighting each other like men to the bitter end, like there would be no tomorrow... now that's the kind of final you don't see too often.
I remember the hype of Laine and Pulijarvi in this tournament but it was the center of that line Sebastian Aho that turned out to be the best out of the three
Because it's Russia. I don't like the country(mainly because of Putin). Besides, Sweden and Finland have so much in common and Finland was a part of Sweden for approximately 600 to 700 years. So if it doesn't go well for Sweden in a tournament of any kind, I always cheer for the other Nordic countries that may be in it, and in this case, it was Finland.
From Russia we see Finland as a smallish nation of boring people. Country with no history or significant achievements. Glad they were trashed this year that's showing them more appropriate place in the world. We respect Sweden though so it's pity to learn you think opposite. Too scared by Putin? Don't worry he's only about to restore old Russian borders not to conquer Europe )
In the ww2 we killed over 1 million Russians. A nation of 4 million humiliated a nation of 160 million. You Russians are like africans and people in Finland laugh at you!!
Actually there are more things in common with '98 and 2016 tournaments than just those you mentioned: - Finland scores the highest (and identical btw) amount of goals (35 goals) out of all teams - the reigning champion (Canada) loses to the future champion (Finland) by late third period goal (3-2, 6-5) and they fail to proceed to the semifinals - Finland has very efficient 1st line (in '98: Niklas Hagman (4+1) - Olli Jokinen (4+6) - Eero Somervuori (3+6); in 2016: Patrik Laine (7+6) - Sebastian Aho (5+9) - Jesse Puljujärvi (5+12)) - Russia is the opponent in the final, they score the first goal of the game and they lead the game longer than the Finns, but they lose to Finland in the OT - Kalervo Kummola's (the Vice President of IIHF) time as the President of FIIA (Finnish Ice Hockey Association) begins and ends with WJC tournament which is held in his home country, both having a golden ending
2:07:17 This woman in the background looks so nice and class! Wow! I would like to meet her! Oooohhhhh mina rakastan Suomea! Congrats Suomi! I get to hear more and more your wonderful national anthem! From Canada :)
When you say that you love Finland in Finnish, it's actually like this: Minä rakastan Suomea. But close enough. And merci, brother from Canada. Hopefully our teams would get to fight each other at some point in the World Cup, because those games are always very close and they're really special to me no matter how the match ends.
every time russia plays like that, they deserve credit. too bad normally you see ovetskin-primadonnas. this team was really good. could have gone either way...
just re-watched the game first time. Holy **** what a game. Thought would be easy to watch the game again as a Finn but was still exicited even you know the score :) amazing game, thank you for sharing!
Ice hockey is a European sport. U18 Finland gold and Sweden silver. U20 Finland gold and Russia silver. It's exciting to see which two European countries will take men's gold and silver. :)
At 16:20 you can see that the Russians have 6 players on the ice but the camera never records towards the Russian goal and I'm still a bit curious to know if Russia had too many on the ice or not? Lovely game, truly a reminder of "Talvisota" the Finnish Winter War when the mighty Russia attacked but we held them at bay!
Some guys just don’t have “it” and in Puljujarvi’s case he doesn’t have an NHL level hockey sense. It’s crazy how both Laine and Puljujarvi were insane prospects with all the physical tools you’d want yet it was Aho who became the best player out of the bunch.
This tweet of a Finnish journalist, that was posted during the final, gives you the answer: twitter.com/kuplassasha/status/684458671531757569 Translation: ”Message from Russian insider: Samsonov can't play back-to-back. That's why Georgiev (is in the net tonight)”.
Thanks for the TSN version. This game was amazing! Greetings from Finland

Finland deserved to win against the Russians. They had a great team. from Canada.
In my eyes both teams deserved to win, because they fought to the very last second in every game they played. Finland and Russia both never had it easy in the tournament, they managed to overcome their hardships time and time again and they never gave up the fight until the game was finally over.

Lol what about last years championship game Canada vs Russia
Finland had Puljujärvi, Aho, Rantanen, Laine, Hintz, Kapanen in this match :D rip enemy
I remember the hype of Laine and Pulijarvi in this tournament but it was the center of that line Sebastian Aho that turned out to be the best out of the three
Actually we never said laine and pulju, aho was always there
Mikko Rantanen was not talked about much even though he was the captain but now hes one of the best players in the league
As a Swede, I wanted Finland to win rather than Russia(I always support any team that plays against Russia).
ditto
but why though?
Because it's Russia. I don't like the country(mainly because of Putin). Besides, Sweden and Finland have so much in common and Finland was a part of Sweden for approximately 600 to 700 years. Glad för Finland!
SUOMI !!! Respect From Ukraine!!!
This is almost like Helsinki '98. Canada finishes well without a medal. Finland wins on home ice.

FINLAND IS THE BEST TEAM!!

Congratz to WM-gold! You deserved it! Hopefully we meet in world cup :)
Unnamed Person Kiitos!

ok

Puljujarvi, Aho, Rantanen and Laine on the ice at the same time. I'll take that.
Pulju back to nhl!
@@silmupelaa6349 ei
Roope Hintz as well. Good lord this team was stacked.
Ice hockey is a European sport. U18 Finland gold and Sweden silver. U20 Finland gold and Russia silver. It's exciting to see which two European countries will take men's gold and silver. :)
Canada isn't in Europe, what are you talking about? ;)
Well it seems that Europeans have the best hockey teams.
+Aki Savela hahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahahahaha Who's the Olympic Champion bud
Nah canada is 2nd best of them all bud
Who made hockey bud
I COME FROM FINLAND AND I PLAY ICE HOCKEY
1:53:34. A display of Russian sportsmanship. Even steroids couldn't defeat the honest winners.
I have to say the Russian goal at the end of 3rd period was very nice.. Luckily us Finns won though!
TEEMU
Get Russia back in the wjc 😢 Please
I was like NOO!! Russia won. dut no, it was Finland. Nice...
se oli hieno video hyvä et suomi voitti
Have a good year in pitt kappy 😭
1:18:36 that must hurt
Laine is a big boy xD
1:47:11 Kaprizov so sad 😭
Laine is so tall and big guy with skills so he can defense the puck hard
Hyvä Suomi!!!

+Tobias Wulff its a delayed penalty
elkkuhax And when did Ru receive that penalty then?
+Tobias Wulff when the ref put his arm up, when the Russian tendy realised there was a delayed he skated to the bench
Penalty for Finland
Finland got a penalty, as long as Russia keeps puck posession the referees wont blow the whistle. Georgiev skated out for the extra attacker.
Man i can’t believe how poorly puljujarvi has done statistically in the nhl vs what the hype/his expectations were
I also thought the same about Juolevi. He looked like he would be a top pair D in the NHL for sure
Some guys just don’t have “it” and in Puljujarvi’s case he doesn’t have an NHL level hockey sense.
