  • 2500 is an amazing platform having 90% of the pieces you already need, super clean truck with Duramax intercooler integrated, made some hits on stock motor, going to do some small mods like cam, springs, and bring it back to see what it was all worth

    Nice! I have 1500hd with the same set up! I'm running a Duramax radiator and intercooler with a 100% stock motor with 240,000 miles on it and running 10lbs of boost. Been very reliable for years now

    • @lukemarquardt5771

      I had always wondered why more guys didn't use the Dmax intercooler. What is the reason for needing the radiator?
      I have a 04 2500HD 6.0 with like 190k on it, all stock. Thinking about adding a turbo like this, just concerned about towing. Tug around a car trailer from time to time that is anywhere from 5k to 7k lbs loaded.

      Yup Owen that's pretty much the only reason. The radiator is way bigger then you will ever need but it is really easy to mount and intercool sits right on the radiator so it make for a simple installation

    • @tylerbecker7703
      @tylerbecker7703 5 років тому +3

      Just switch over the top part on you core support with the Duramax one and it all bolts up. But the radiator hoses are bigger on the Duramax so you need to do some adapting to plumb it in

      @@lukemarquardt5771 so my pickup is lifted on 35s with 373 gears and it would hunt for gears on a windy day before I turboed it. Now it climbs hills without down shifting and will hold speed on the windiest of days. I do not pull a trailer with it but I do haul 2 sleds in the back on a sled bed which is about 1700lbs and doesn't miss a beat. A new BOV tends to come with a lighter spring, more suitable for a lumpy, low vacuum camshaft. Gearhead Rob has a video, detailing how to tune a BOV.

    Can anyone explain why some people elect to use E85 vs Pump?

    • @EGGINFOOLS

      E85 is a higher octane fuel. It allows for more timing to be added and it's usually cheap

    Just turbo’d my 01 1500hd bone stock motor and trans 256k miles, stock vs, stock decapped injectors, walbro 450lph pump, 3 bar map sensor 12.5lbs. Truck runs great, would love to do a cam in it down the road but it’s super fun to daily. Also has a quiet 3” exhaust on it so you can hear all the Chinese noisy boi stuff going on.

    • @auditrevor
      @auditrevor Рік тому

      Well it didn’t last super long. Went from 80 degree weather when I tuned it to about 30 degree weather and I didn’t retune it. Doing a pull getting on the hwy it hit 12.2 afr at full boost and hurt one of the pistons. Still runs, drives fine just has a miss at idle and I found small pieces of piston that were in between the wg valve and the firing ring. I feel like an idiot for not changing a few things in the tune that would have helped prevent that from happening but it’s all a learning experience. If I end up keeping the truck I’ll do rods and pistons and a Elgin 1840p cam and a decent converter in it early next year after the holidays.

      Is there a rod and piston combo you’d recommend for a “budget build”? I know with turbo Honda’s I always have people run the cast nippon ls turbo pistons they are cheap and I’ve made 550+whp with them. The ring lands are about 2x as thick as the factory pistons and they work really well.

      MAP sensor and injectors need to be changed to handle boost, and it can’t run on the stock tune

    you can get 500 with just new cam and heads

    • @alibobobaba1337
      @alibobobaba1337 3 роки тому

      This setup is much better for daily driving than with the huge ass cam needed to reach that number. It would probably be tough to get 500 to the wheel with just heads and a cam on these too. And now that’s he’s going to put springs and trans parts in he just simply turns the boost up with a fresh tune and he could have 600-700 wheel no problem.
