  • Join us for a realtime narrowboat cruise through Harecastle Tunnel on the Trent & Mersey Canal in Staffordshire. Enjoy the sounds of the boat making it's way through the tunnel, the huge fans removing fumes, water pouring into the canal from the hill above, and a few voices as we film a vlog. You'll also see patches of ghostly mist, and keep your eyes peeled for the famous skeleton in the wall! This ASMR style slow TV video is ideal for meditation, mindfulness, or just to enjoy some peace and relaxation. It's also a great resource if you are planning to do the same trip.

We're Colin and Shaun. In 2018 we gave up our home and jobs, built a 57-foot narrowboat, and explored the UK's 2,000 miles of rivers and canals. Watch our story here 👉🏻 / foxesafloat

That's a physical representation of depression. A tunnel that seems to close in on all sides, with a pinpoint of ligjt that never seems to be getting any nearer - but it always does in the end.

When you both went through Harecastle tunnel was your lucky tunnel underpants still in one pieces Colin?

i also noted and started to wonder why and what the numbers on the right hand side were for as they look like years in 25yr segments?

Colin/Shaun, how is the tunnel controlled? i.e. is it wide enough for 2 boats to pass or is there a timeslot type system for each direction? or do you have a token like trains on a single bi-directional line? This is so relaxing to watch BTW 🙂

why is this tunnel misty in some places, and where does it come from as there are no air vents near by?

About halfway through I muted UA-cam and played "Brown Sugar" loud through my head phones. I could visualise going through the tunnel with 1000W speakers blaring. Would that be a criminal offence? 😁

No, but it would be extremly childish and unpopular.

Whale sounds wouldn't rock anyone's boat too much and st least if a boat came towards you they'd know something was ahead..
