@@EclipseFangVT Well, I had HELLP syndrome. According to the Preeclampsia Foundation, "HELLP (Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelets) syndrome is a life-threatening pregnancy complication usually considered to be a variant of preeclampsia.... Early diagnosis is critical because serious illness and even death can occur in about 25% of cases."
They found out I had HELLP only because I went in because my back was hurting. My platelets were dropping as we spoke. And even though I had eaten only about 4 or so hours before, I had to go into surgery for an emergency C-section. This is bad because for emergency C-sections, Josh can't be in there and I have to be put fully under. This is bad because I had food that I could throw up, aspirate, choke, and die on. So I was battling the HELLP syndrome and the anesthesia relaxing my muscles so much that digested food could kill me.
I needed 2 bags of blood during the surgery and another 1-2 afterwards. I couldn't hold my babies because I was on a 24-hour drip that made me prone to seizures.
So yeah. Literally almost died. And Josh wasn't there with me even though that was the plan and I needed him. I was scared, begging the anesthesia nurse to not let me die, crying as I went under, scared I wouldn't wake up again.

Bluey really takes me back to those old nick jr/ playhouse Disney shows of my childhood. It is innocent, wholesome storytelling that teaches vital lessons to kids and adults. No grossout humor, no "subversive content," no dull ABC recitations, and no politics (which is shocking considering one episode is set during an election).

That's not weird at all. Rusty is one of the best portrayals of positive masculinity I've seen in many a moon. What too many people don't realize about toxic masculinity is that it isn't just any old display of traditionally masculine qualities. It's when the pressure to conform to those qualities causes men to hurt themselves and others.

    • @cutepuddleslime8201
      @cutepuddleslime8201 5 місяців тому +2

Another awesome character that has positive masculinity is Kirishima from My Hero Academia. There's a video that goes into depth on how masculinity can be portrayed very positively not only in MHA male characters (as well as the toxic ones) but also in general on how masculine qualities should be portrayed, even if it isn't like that of Kirishima.

That point about Bluey filling the hole MLP FIM left behind, yessss. Bluey is totally the spiritual revival of MLP gen 4.
Also my favourite episode is Flat Pack, the way they cram evolution, theology and the stages of growing up into one 7 minute segment and how well they are intertwined together, *chefs kiss* genius.

I just noticed that Calypso blending the games together could be seen as a metaphor on how the purpose of a teacher/mentor is to teach kids how to be self sufficient, how to depend and be dependable so that they can ultimately find the place that suits them better whit their respective differences.
And, as someone that is neurodivergent, I really appreciated her letting pretzel rest until he is ready to join and also welcoming him. I had a bunch of teachers that will pressure me to play, enjoy things I didn’t, and will try to encourage me by not letting me play if I arrived to late to the game and by telling me if I complained “you should’ve joined when I told you”. I only learned that I have to let in into social pressure and do things on anyone’s time but my in or I won’t get to do them Ever…Sorry for the trauma dumping but I also Wanted to say THIS episode HELPED ME to work.
Anyway I Love Calypso and I wanted to show this episode to some of my friends who are teachers ❤

One of the best things about Bluey to me is the running theme of "good parenting, even if the kid isn't yours", with the adults always treating the kids with care, confidence and respect. Bandit and Chili parent their kids' friends, Wendy helps parent Bluey and Bingo and Calypso parents all her students.
And Rusty ties into the good parenting theme because he's clearly such a healthy example of classical masculinity because his dad and Digger both are and both do an excellent job modeling what behavior is appropriate and how you should treat the people around you.

Seeing videos talking about that and why good writing is good for all ages- especially for families with kids, would be nice to see again on UA-cam, and from you guys 🥰. The moment you had in babyrace, I had a similar experience in the equestrian games episode with spike… totally different situations- but I get that sometimes that’s the magic of these shows. I know that episode isn’t the community’s favorite, but it was so eye opening for a teen that was desperate to prove themselves, but it was never enough and to realize where the problem lies in myself… and why I was giving myself such a hard time & why I needed to prove myself. That moment literally changed my perspective to grow… when I needed it most. Know that we love you guys, and you aren’t alone!

Can we appreciate how the there is only one episode on both top 10 lists... It really does illustrate the different ways in which this show is great - funny, joyful, relatable, creative, inventive, inspiring, emotional, comforting, considerate and inclusive, a role model, or just having great stories, characteracters and lessons...
Some of my favorites that weren't on either list are Flat Pack (which i thought will be there because you played its music in The Show segment... it misled me), Space, Onesies, Rug Island, Copycat, The Creek and Rain. And my favorite of all time si Cricket (yes, I know it' one of the most popular episodes)... speaking of which, I completely agree Rusty is a portrayal of positive masculinity. And I think the biggest reason why I love the episode is not just the varied ways he overcomes the challenges or even the traits connected to them as you've pointed out..., but also the bonds with other characters (4 family members + Jack) that shine throughout. I've already piled up a lot of adjectives earlier, but i don't have a word to describe all that being done in 7 minutes...

Out of all the things I was expecting to see today, a new FOB Equestria upload was not one of them. And I am NOT complaining whatsoever.
When I first heard about Bluey, I wanted so badly to say that it was overrated and not as great as everyone said it was, but now that I've watched a hefty amount, I can 100% say that I was wrong. I like other TV shows more, of course, but Bluey has definitely found its way into my top 20-30.
Both of your lists and picks are very great, and so are the reasons for choosing them. And I think I speak for everyone when I say that both of you are gonna be some of the best parents in the universe.
I'd love to see you tackle more Bluey stuff on this channel, so if you have more video ideas, by all means make them.

Grandad hits my sister differently and she only watched it a few days ago. She said she had to stop watching it with her kids because it made her nearly cry.
The reason for that is due to our dad. He only got to meet her son when he was just a baby and never got to meet his granddaughter and to be frank it was because he never wanted to see a doctor. If he thought something was wrong he'd handle it until he couldn't and when he did that.. He couldn't handle it and he ended up being diagnosed with stage four cancer.
I can't even watch Grandad anymore without crying. Knowing we could have had more times together and now we can't. It's a hard thing to face in all honesty.
"You should take care of yourself for me because, I still need you." Is something I wish I could have told my dad sooner. Maybe he'd still be here if I did.
I can relate to parents having you late though. I'm in the same boat as you and my little sister is only three years younger then me. So yeah.. Point is you kinda described why Grandad is such a good episode and I felt the need to comment just because of it.

To give my final impression on this video, I loved it and would be happy to see more content from you guys, even if I don't think I'll be watching Bluey myself. That said, there are plenty of MLP episodes from Gen 4 that you still haven't reviewed, so there's still plenty of material for you to go back to if you ever want to dive back into the MLP-verse.
There's also fanfiction out there you could review if desired. My current favorite is "Manehattan's Lone Guardian," a Megaman Zero crossover featuring a surprisingly balanced mix of both lighthearted comedy, fun classic action, and deep-rooted conspiracy.

As a Church of England Brit, I'm more familiar with Gustav Holst's Jupiter, specifically the bit played in Sleepytime, as the melody to the patriotic hymn, I Vow to Thee, My Country, often played during the Royal British Legion Service of Remembrance broadcast of the eve on Remembrance Sunday.

I mean we all spend a ton of time on screens, so it’s important to remember there’s other things out there, especially for young kids bc they need that connection and growth.

Hey, Josh. Just a shoutout from your opening on Number 9: I'm the same way. It's definitely an autism and ADHD thing for me. You're not alone in this.
Edit to Ari: how you speak of your grandparents are how I think of my own parents. I was fostered from the time I was 17 months old until my formal adoption at 3 years old so my parents are the only ones I've ever known. My mom is 70 and my dad is 76. Both of them are pretty healthy for their ages but with some health issues of their own due to age and some life-long issues. I'm 36 now and it's true that, given that the relationship is good and healthy, you'll never stop needing the adults in your life no matter how old you get.

After seeing my nephew and many adults take an interest in Bluey, I decided to look at it, and some of the messages struck me very hard. Growing up with a military dad wasn't easy, which was why I would jump for joy every time I saw him as a kid. When I joined the "step-parent's circle", I wasn't sure how to feel until I started making friends and enjoyed hanging out with them. Then I found interests I enjoyed that I'm not sure others enjoyed until I told them, and they respected me for liking something I enjoyed. Now, I have a UA-cam channel where I make content that people who subscribed to my channel would enjoy, and I'm glad I like Bluey because of everything that happened in most of the episodes that happened throughout a good majority of my life.

I've watched all the episodes and loved everyone of them. I don't have kids of my own, but I've got two nephews and a niece from my wonderful brother and sister - in - law, and they treat me just as if I was one of the parents when it comes to them. It's been hard adjusting to life after losing my father in 2021 to cancer, but Bluey as been a bit of a light for me, seeing that it isn't all sunshine everyday but sometimes we just continue on as best as we can. Each time I get to spend time with my family, I may come home exhausted and drained of all energy, but I get to keep a smile on my face for longer knowing that I'm helping shape these kids to be good people in the future.

The episode that makes my #1 is Flat Pack. It starts as such an unassuming episode that quickly turns into a blend of evolution and creation. Bluey and Bingo go through the evolutionary scale as bandit and chili, God in the their game, give them their world. All while this is going on, there's another game afoot where bingo and bluey are going through the stages of growing up. The end is amazing. Bluey and Bingo get to modern times, bingo grows up; bluey grows old. The episode ends with Blueys death and ascending to heaven all while this beautiful score plays. All this ... in 7 minutes. It's a masterpiece

Not gonna lie, both Josh's and Ari's number 1s hit me hard...
Ari's number 1 makes me think about my own worries with a new baby on the way. I'm going to be an Aunt in a few months and considering my own attachment to my Aunts, I'm worried about how good of a family figure I'm going to be for my niece... And hearing the "You'll do fine" line from one of the characters felt like a weight was taken off my chest. I do hope I can build a strong relationship with my niece when she is finally born, but I know I shouldn't worry too much about it.
For Josh's, however... it was that final line when Chilli telling Bingo she'll always be with her and Bingo hearing it in her dreams. I lost my own mother a few years ago and it's been hard for me to move on. A few weeks after her passing, she appeared to me in a dream and told me that I'd be fine and to keep going. I was able to become lucid enough to call out to her... and I woke up sobbing. It's been hard moving forward without her, but I have come a long way from who I was all those years ago. Not perfect, but growing...
Bluey is a show I've heard of but never really paid too much mind, but I can definitely respect the amount of valuable lessons it has in it for both kids and adults. I'll definitely have to give it a watch sometime.

I don't have kids yet, but I got a taste of parenting helping raise my younger siblings. There is a huge age gap between us and more often than not, with both of our parents working, I was the only one around for them. I was obviously not fit to be a parent at 13 but now at 30 I look back on it, and how fun it was to be with them so much and help shape them as people. And it makes me want to do better for my own kids if I ever have any.
This show helped me look at all that in a new light and I'm so grateful for it's existence.

Some of my favorite episodes not on here:
    - Unicorse/Puppets: Even if Unicorse himself isn’t alive, Bandit puts so much sass and personality into the little Muppet reject that he really takes on a life of his own.
    - Squash: We don’t get to see Stripe interact with his nieces one-on-one very often, and watching him bond with Bingo and get emotional from her confidence in winning really hits hard after coming back from “Fairytale.”
    - Pavlova: Bandit just spouting off random phrases while pretending to be a French chef is an absolute riot; and of course the ketchup jumpscare.
    - Seesaw: Mostly just Pom Pom being the second cutest puffball in the world after Kirby. 😊
    - Bad Mood: The contrast between Bandit projecting Bingo’s “anger” and her giggling nonstop always puts a smile on my face.

    Ari’s #3 got me emotional
I lost my grandmother on my mom‘s side when I was barely a year old. But the stories they told me of her let me know that she was someone who never let what was happening with her stop her.
I was closer with my grandparents on my father side because I knew them a bit better.
My grandfather got an infection and I was his caretaker, but watched him slip away.
Today all four of my grandparents are gone. So that ending that are gave, and the image of young chilli with her dad.
    …that hit me.
