It would be nice if the industry made A2L conversion kits for existing 410a systems. The A2Ls are the same pressure as 410a so really a A2L metering device and a compressor change out is all thats needed instead of changing out the whole evaporator coil and outdoor unit. It would put less 410a equipment in our waste ( not all of the equipment gets recycled ) and the cost would be less to the customer.
If they did that, then all the lobbyists would make their money at congress. Then, they will realize that they are the ones that are causing the depletion of the ozone layer. Because how many people do you really think is actually going to recapture the freon? When are they going to realize that every time they talk about changing refrigerants is when so much refrigerant is let into the atmosphere. You will see a lot of the companies line up on the side of the road or behind their shops letting out the refrigerant so they can sell the units at scrap. Beavers can even explain that one to butthead.
Are the rerated compressors actually any different? Seems to be it is a rebadge of the model number and nameplate refrigerant spec, added flammability warnings. This isn't like the massive swap we had between r22 and r410a where the PT chart looked like it came from a different planet. Equipment manufacturers then spec the adjusted refrigerant charge details and add any additional regulatory safety gear for the A2L. What's different between a TXV for r410a and r32 or r454b? Aren't they set for the same superheat target? I'd figure the only true difference is in variable speed inverter units such as mini-splits where they use an electronic expansion valve because the pressure differences would require programming to respond properly to all of the temp/pressure differences along with a slightly different charge weight of it being a slightly different refrigerant.
it's the surrounding equipment (air handler/furnace/etc.) that has changed significantly, with in built leakage sensors and automated blower on to disperse the gas buildup is possible. or they'll go total shutdown-lockout. the idea is a leak in evaporator could fractionate and build up to a level of BOOM if ignited in any way within the unit. so they shutdown and turn on indoor blower to disperse the gas buildup or sense more and do full shutdown and alarm, probably be tied into fire/co/smoke alarm panels, send wifi/text/call alerts, etc. before long. total speculation on my part, but that's surely what they're aiming and driving for... sad day that we have to tell people burning unvented fuels indoors or will it can pool is bad, same with unburnt fuels. 🤔 s much as I see it as good, I also see nanny state and protections of things nature is not striving to keep.
Do you have an audio book version? I have dyslexia and it would be awesome to have that in addition to the normal book. Let me know if you do or are thinking of doing that in the future.
This book took a full year to remake so it is fully updated, every word, meaning, and image so unfortunately we can't do an extension variation. Its not that simple of a project but I really wish it would have been. Thank you and great question!!!
The differences are all the added step by step procedures, A2L requirements and procedures, probes and tees along with manifold use, overall details are about 15 percent more on each subject and some are significantly more, thanks and the full outline is at acservicetech.com/ac-book
I work as a gas engineer (central heating and gas boiler) in the UK 🇬🇧 and I'm looking to move to the USA. Could you tell me if there's a lot of demand for work there please 🙏 My qualifications is from UK
There certainly is a lot of work but just like everything else it depends on what state and area you are moving to. Is there a low amount of work in your area?
Don’t feel “ duped”. There is always someone that gets caught in the transition of ANY changing product or service. EVERYTHING that Craig M. puts out is well worth the price. I bought the 1st Edition about a year after it first came out, made many highlights and hand-written notes and will definitely be purchasing the 2nd Edition. Donate your 1st Edition to your local library. It just might help some kid get into the field . Don’t feel bad…………👍👍👍👍
for those of us who already purchased the first edition, it would be nice if this was offered electronically at a significant discount
Especially if you just purchased 1st edition before this came out
Thanks!
I love the old version helped me understand systems if this book is like that one then I’m more than happy to get it .
Its way better and still easy to understand language!
Is there gonna be E-version of the sec edition? Shipment to australia is the same price as the book itself 😅
Must be a really good book.

Can you make a video on how to correctly use a micron gauge on a manifold

We don't have an audio version in planning at this point. However, that would be a good idea!
I also want the digital version
If I order the 2nd edition then it’s not necessary to order the 1st edition?
No you don't need to buy the first one
The 2nd edition supersedes the first, thanks!
Do you plan to make an extension veraion for those who have the 1st edition? Could be a reasonable price solution.

I literally was gifted this on Christmas but the first edition i wish i would have known this was going to be available as the original was around $75
I Love this book!!!!!

What’s the difference between first edition and 2nd? Because I bought first any chances….thanks.

Hello Craig, i have one question.
Is there a way to determine how much pressure compressor is adding to refrigerant?
For ac the compression ratio is 2:1 to 3:1.
@acservicetechchannel thank you very much.
Question when will there be an ebook available?
It will be a month or so likely!

I've recently moved to commercial side but gained so much from the first edition I have to get the 2nd.
Looks good 😊
hey, im looking at getting into air con etc and in the UK, would you ship this item? also your UA-cam is soo helpful, kind regards Trev

It would be my luck that I literally ordered the first edition just a couple weeks ago 😮💨🤦♂️
In spanish????
If you could prove you bought 1st edition, 2nd edition should be a discount…
Fuck, i just got the 1st edition. Horrible timing. I feel duped

$100 to ship a book to Aus .. XD
We ship with UPS so it actually gets there and gets there in a decent time but it is costly and there is the customs fee, sorry!
I just bought the first edition not that long ago... it'd be nice if I could somehow exchange for the new one at a discount...
