A couple of years later a "tiger" panic has also sat in, and urgent need for high velocity high penetration guns was needed, which brought the ZiS2 back to production. Its sad that only German tractors are well known. Even in this video you see a number of German and Russian armored vehicles and you never see the number of tracked tractors. Tho I assume a high mobility Sdkfz 7 with towed 8,8cm was worth more than two T-26.

One of my favourite vehicles to play in WT. it’s a perfect sniper. The biggest issue I have with it is that the gun is so comically large it’s the farthest thing from stabilized. It’s completely impossible to fire on the move, and it takes the gun a few seconds to stop wobbling when I suddenly stop. That’s gotten me killed quite a few times.
This makes me want to craft a 2.0-3.0 lineup for USSR! Im about to log in and do it now. This thing might not have much armour but its gun and mobility are even more deadly! So fun to come back to as an experienced player. Very capable vehicle in hands of a hardened crew
I use the ZiS-30 all the time in War Thunder. Awesome gun for the battle rating. You can one-shot kill just about everything, even frontally if you know where to aim. Definitely a camper's best friend if you can find good cover from strafing aircraft. However, it's as slow as molasses going uphill in January, can be killed by someone throwing a rock, and only has a main gun ammo capacity of 20 rounds.
6:42 - The T-20 artillery tractor displayed here has “Exercise Baby” written in Finnish on its side. That is still a Finnish expression in use today that applies to lifelike baby-dolls for prospective mothers with learning difficulties to get used to carrying around a young baby. This T-20 is literally a Finnish “practice tank”.
Very much appreciate your channel. I consider myself fairly well versed on WWII battles and tactics but admit to not knowing much about the specific pieces of equipment involved.
A small vehicle can go places many others can not. Combined with the excellent high velocity gun & well designed ergonomics(would be easily able to utilize two loaders & a dismounted spotter) this is a good system.
Dat gaz truck wit dat 76mm aa gun doe... I mean don't get me wrong, the ZiS Wobblin' Goblin is a fun tank to use, the Buck Truck willl remain muh favrut' for sometime
The Zis30 was quite successful for the short time it was on the battlefield. It filled the gap that the Soviets had for quick firing, easily manufacturable and self propelled AT gun which excelled at doing what it was designed to do. The 57mm gun on the T-34 which was based on the Zis-2 was also very effective for this same reason.
I believe it was a good idea, the only thing i'd change was to make it longer to it doenst need the supporters for the gun recoil and maybe fit a better engine. Very good in WT too
Believe it or not, the first Soviet TD that comes to my mind is the Su-76i. Not because it was common but because it's so unique being a soviet TD built on German chassis. That and it's also mysterious because very little information about it is around.
Thanks to WoT I learned of a similar tank that was a Chinese concept but like most ideas for Chinese tank destroyers it was scrapped, basically the same gun as the Zis-30 but mounted on an M5 Stuart
man, young me back in 2017 when i first started playing war thunder, i love this little dude, i grinded most of russian early tank with this because gaijin gave free talisman to it
pls do a video on the T-20, I was always fascinated by its small design. A lot of people often think something fierce like a Tiger or Panther is cool but I always thought the tiny tanks such as the Panzer II and BT-5 were cool because of their petite appearances. It might've been because of my interest in Narrow Gauge Trains that makes me love small Tanks (Narrow Gauge Trains are often smaller than other Trains due to the tracks they run on are narrower hence the term narrow-gauge). I even drew up universes where the average "proper" tank was comparable to a Panzer II with the heaviest tanks being similar to a Char B1.
Appearance wise the ZIS-30 is an oddly endearing combination of "cute" and "serious weapon system". I would not want to crew one for an extended period though.
11:50 I also find it wrong to blame the user for that as from what it looks like from the pictures you have to go down to deploy it meaning the tank has to stop for at least a good minute to be ready to fire effectively which if the tank somehow run into a German tank which doesn't have to deploy something for recoil the Zis will be at a great disadvantage and here i put the scenario where "No time to deploy" make sense in my opinion it is no one fault not the user or factory rather a thing they should have tried to improve in the tank to make the vehicle quicker in combat

What else can you expect?Stay hidden,be cautious and thank god you will be fighting german mains most of the time.
Well that's what you get for not using the deployable recoil absorbing feet.
I wish there were more RTS games which had you play out early war WWII. So many chaotic designs.
Interested in how this tractor would fare against the Bob Semple in a fight.
I don't think you could even call that a fight. The ZIS-30 is properly armed, unlike the Bob Semple
@@nesca647 ZIS-30 would get absolutely destroyed in the fight.
Zis-30 is good in every way exept being open-topped and almost unarmored. (strongest armor is the crew's helmets lol) I love my little gremlin tank :D
Back when I still played War Thunder i loved this thing. First sortie I fired sideways and flipped it over. Fun times.
Very much appreciate your channel. I consider myself fairly well versed on WWII battles and tactics but admit to not knowing much about the specific pieces of equipment involved.
One of my favorites in Warthunder the 57 is just a good gun and I love using it
i really like the animated intro, it is simple but says a lot
A small vehicle can go places many others can not. Combined with the excellent high velocity gun & well designed ergonomics(would be easily able to utilize two loaders & a dismounted spotter) this is a good system.
Great thumbnail, love how I still use this TD even in T3 of War Thunder
Dat gaz truck wit dat 76mm aa gun doe... I mean don't get me wrong, the ZiS Wobblin' Goblin is a fun tank to use, the Buck Truck willl remain muh favrut' for sometime
It's kind'a like artillery analogue of technical trucks.
-" ...so, we have these tractors..., let's put the cannons on them..."
0:15 "advance back east into the german homeland" *wheeez*
The Zis30 was quite successful for the short time it was on the battlefield. It filled the gap that the Soviets had for quick firing, easily manufacturable and self propelled AT gun which excelled at doing what it was designed to do. The 57mm gun on the T-34 which was based on the Zis-2 was also very effective for this same reason.
This reminds me of Ukraine mt-lb refitted with t-12 100mm AT guns. Always interesting to see artillery tractors get turned into spgs.
Or S-8 rocket pods!
This was my favourite TD back when I played WT
Yay!
Danger Tractor!
Spookston: *looks at the zis-30* This is certainly not suboptimal.
I believe it was a good idea, the only thing i'd change was to make it longer to it doenst need the supporters for the gun recoil and maybe fit a better engine. Very good in WT too
Love this thing, adorable and effective. Good to learn what those pointy caps are on the back, thought they were exhausts or something!
I love these small vehicles with big guns! Like the Marder-Series or even this funny Tractor.
I used this Lil guy sooooo much when starting ussr tech tree in war thunder. It's so sneaky and powerful
The only cursed thing here is WT and its grind. Aside that, great video.
I fuckin love lil goblin tank destroyers. Like mounting 10ft long guns on 2 man hulls
One of my favorite warthunder vehicles. Su-57 and American 75 mill gun on a truck are snipers!
Fun fact, the vehicle at 6:41 is a finnish captured vehicle. The text in the side (Harjoitusvaunu) means "training vehicle/carriage"
Ooh! Do the SU-76i! It was fascinating to know that the Soviets used Panzer III and Stug III chassis.
i love the zis 30 in warthunder. its really fun to play and sneak around in.
This little fella was also playable on Panzer Corps Wehrmacht (Soviet Crops DLC) for iOS, Macs and PC by Slitherine.
I just plaster these in bushes and ambush panzer IIIs
Believe it or not, the first Soviet TD that comes to my mind is the Su-76i. Not because it was common but because it's so unique being a soviet TD built on German chassis. That and it's also mysterious because very little information about it is around.
Thanks to WoT I learned of a similar tank that was a Chinese concept but like most ideas for Chinese tank destroyers it was scrapped, basically the same gun as the Zis-30 but mounted on an M5 Stuart
My MVP in WT. 57mm ZiS-2 sends most of vehicles back to hangar.
man, young me back in 2017 when i first started playing war thunder, i love this little dude, i grinded most of russian early tank with this because gaijin gave free talisman to it
pls do a video on the T-20, I was always fascinated by its small design.
I love Case TDs/assault guns, mostly starting fro. The Stug, and I have expanded out to other powers.
The ZIS-30 is a perfect example of the Soviet strategy that won the war.
An utter dependence on Lend-Lease?
@@lexbrightraven8049 I know. I was being snarky.
@@lexbrightraven8049The USSR had its own industries. Ukraine is much more reliant on foreign aid.
Appearance wise the ZIS-30 is an oddly endearing combination of "cute" and "serious weapon system".
I would not want to crew one for an extended period though.
11:50 I also find it wrong to blame the user for that as from what it looks like from the pictures you have to go down to deploy it meaning the tank has to stop for at least a good minute to be ready to fire effectively which if the tank somehow run into a German tank which doesn't have to deploy something for recoil the Zis will be at a great disadvantage and here i put the scenario where "No time to deploy" make sense
in my opinion it is no one fault not the user or factory rather a thing they should have tried to improve in the tank to make the vehicle quicker in combat
Had to check my calendar because I thought its fake tank friday and I was pretty sure its real haha.
Love that janky fucker
I look forward to the rest of the hilariously stupidly amazing looking danger tractors.
Are you gonna do a video on the asu-57 or the m56 scorpion
Don't know if your intro animation is new, definitely don't remember seeing it but is absolutely cute
