Ingredients:
2 Cups Blueberries (340g)
1/4 Cup Water (60ml)
1 Cup Sugar (190g)
Tools:
Glass Mason Jars
Directions:
1. Place berries in a saucepan and mash most of them. Add water and heat over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook stirring occasionally until berries are soft and crushed. Once the jam is cooking at a rolling boil, stir in the sugar. Lower heat to medium-low and continue cooking at a boil stirring constantly. Cook for 20 minutes or until the jam thickens and darkens in color.
2. To test for doneness, place a bit of jam on a chilled plate and freeze for 5 minutes. Gently press the jam, it should wrinkle on top.
3. Fill jars with jam and seal them.
| Makes about 10oz. of Jam
How to Sterilize and Seal Jars:
1. Place the lids of washed jars in hot water(not boiling). Place the jars in a pot of boiling water and boil for 5 minutes. Remove jars and lids from water and place on a clean cloth to dry.
2. Once the jars have been filled with jam, close with the lids tightly, and place into boiling water. Boil for 10 minutes.
*Sealed jars can be stored at room temperature. If opened or not sealed, jams should be stored in the refrigerator.

I can't believe I've been paying for jam all my life. I never imagined it was so easy. Thank you.
Raised by Cats.. Ikr? Not anymore...and its bomb. Home made whipped cream and home made jam makes incredible french toast!!
Friends forever. Friendly jam. Friendliness is.
it's cheaper to buy the jam!
@@Poetikaliz not really, I just bought a pint of blueberries for 1.48 I’m making recipe this and will get three 8oz jars out of it.
@@Poetikaliz Depends on location and season.
Those complaining about the sugar quantity..... Jam was invented way before refrigerators were commonplace! The sugar is there primarily as a preservative to prevent mold growing and to retain the nice colour of whatever fruit you are preserving. Even in a fridge skimp on the sugar too much and you will likely find mold before you finish the jam. The sugar also helps to thicken the jam. Your result will be a runny spread not a jam with less sugar.
It's not like you're drinking the stuff, I hope. Unless you are diabetic this recipe is delicious and absolutely fine health wise. I'm in my third year of making this with great results. Thank you Sweetest Journey!
Say it’s so 😍
I agree that sugar helps the jam set. Alternatively, pectin can be used as a stiffening agent.
However, sugar doesn’t prevent mold. Leave a jar of opened jam on a counter and return after a week. It will be covered in mold.
To prevent mold from growing inside a sealed jar of jam, wash the blueberries in water and vinegar. The vinegar will kill any mold spores on the jam.
The water used to seal the jars in this video, just barely covered the lids. For a good seal, the maker should have covered the lids with at least one inch of water. That’s why there was no “pop” when the maker lifted the lid.
@@RDens4d in case the seal Is opened to use jam, after vinegar washing, is it going to grow mold ? I don't want to add that much sugar.
@@janezaray811I put much less sugar and a little bit lemon juice. I also use chia seed to thicken my jam.
No true lemon juice thicken the jam and preserve for long period she forgotten the main ingredient lemon juice citric acid to preserve jam
I've been trying to make Blueberry jam for a few days now, and followed a few different recipes online. All of them basically had the blueberries on the stove top for not longer than 10 minutes tops, and all my jams came out water/liquidy. This is the first time I've seen someone say cook for 25 to 30 mins and it makes so much more sense now.
I actually only cooked mine for 5 and it didnt turn out liquidity. If I cooked it any longer it would have burned. So I would just watch it
@@firekrackergirl6620maybe too much water was used perhaps? I’m currently trying this recipe. I’m gonna wait the 25 minutes because it does look a tad watery
@@pourmeanother__3522 yeah i think it also depends on the fruit. I just eyeballed it. Take it off the stove every 10 minutes. Mix it around and take it off when it has the consistency of regular jam
I just followed these instructions and it turned out great and I did another batch! Thanks for showing us what we asked for instead of telling us your favorite color and how your husband and children climb all over the cabinets to find their favorite jam...etc.
Hahaha! It's only gotten worse over the years. Usually, on UA-cam, I click off the video of the person talks because I can't listen to a 15-minute video that only has 2 minutes of what you need
I add some lemon 🍋 zest to mine. And not as much sugar. Came out great.
Simple! NO one standing around explaining how the Romans discovered blueberries while they were invading some country and discovered blueberries and how .... :)
😂righttt
Haha right!
...ain't that the truth!
😂😂😂
So true! It is so frustrating when people record themselves half of the video and we have to skip it to be able to see the actual recipe!
Kind of fortuitous. I just made blue berry jam yesterday. So so delicious. I did not add that much sugar. I added a little hint lemon juice for tang. Also when water bath canning please allow at least 1 inch of boiling water ABOVE canning jar lid. Happy Canning
How much sugar did you add? I want to try this but I don't want 1/3 of the recipe being sugar
@@Scorned to be honest i wouldnt use any sugar at all, the blueberries have natural sugars already and i can imagine it tasting more sugary after caramelizing it, but i cant say anything just yet cuz i havent tried that for myself, i would guess she used half of what he poured it, probably even less.
I LOVE THIS!! This made the best jam ever, the whole family loved it. I’ll never pay for jam again. Thanks for sharing!! ❤
Super easy recipe. I just finished making it. There was a little left over after I put it into cans, and my husband said it tastes like blueberry pie. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing recipe, thank you! I just added chia seeds to mine for added nutrients and didn't add as much sugar. Tastes so good.
Thank you so much. I made them. It really came out well.. every body loved it
I love the music for this it’s so calming and chill and this blueberry jam looks delicious can’t wait to try it
Nice. Just one comment about the water bath canning: you should use a pot deep enough that the tops of the jars are covered by at least an inch of water (I think that's the recommended depth).
What does the water bath canning do to the jam?
@@daveb2280 Oh I see. Thank you😌
@@mere9721 you only need to do the water bath canning if you plan on keeping some for a while. It can be kept in a pantry without spoiling.
Yes! And don’t tighten the rings on so much. You need to allow air to escape from the jar as it’s sealing.
I am glad I read this comment for this recommendation. Thank You 👍
I just made some and it came out pretty good. I used less sugar and it still came out pretty good, not thick like the store but not to runny and still really good. Thanks for the recipe, nice and simple. I just wish it would have made more than 1.5 small jars worth
Awwwwww yiss I just bought blueberries. I can’t wait to try this because it looked so good in the video! Thank you for sharing.
Made this today and it was * chefs kisses*! Thank you!!
Thanks wow it came out so great, I hoped it wouldn’t come out too watery but after 30 minutes of low heat it turned out perfect. Simple recipe thank you
Wow, love the music and the presentation 💙💜💙💜
Just made jam using this...Came out awesome! Thanks!
One of my favorite...mmm...mmm!!! Wow!!!
Love short videos and to the point. Exactly what I needed, thank you for taking the time to make this video and teach us 🥰
1/4 cup of sugar is plenty! i Tried this recipe with just 1/4 cup and it was fine. we dont need all that sugar!
loppy lop what?
nomadonearth use less sugar
I agree I followed the recipe to the T and it was insanely sweet I went and picked more to dilute it with another batch lol
I know, I watched this and was like i don't think it needs that mucu sugar... Blueberries are already sweet lol
loppy lop that’s what I was thinking 🤔
First timer here!! This canning recipe is the bomb! Thanks 😊
I didn't water can mine since it will self seal and I will be putting it in the frig. I added lemon zest and 1 TB of fresh lemon juice, cinnamon, clove powder and nutmeg and also a few fennel seeds. It was delightful! If it was for LT, then water canning is a must. Great video!! 👍
amazing recipe!!! turned out great !
made mine just like yours and man, this stuff rocks
this seems like a great recipe thanks. i certainly am trying it out for my preserving food project.
Short and concise...thanks!
Great video. I will add like others have said, cover the jars with at least an inch of water when doing the the water bath. ALSO!! Don’t tighten the ring on the lid so much before doing so. Just tighten it enough to keep the lid from moving off so that air can escape during the processing. If you tighten as much as the video shows you’ll get a false seal and potentially have air trapped in the jar when storing. You can tell the seal wasn’t that good on the jar in the video because there was a very quiet pop when the jar was opened. You want a good solid POP when opening your sealed jars.
Hi!
I tried your blueberries jam today! Came out really well! Thank you soooooo much for sharing your recipe 🤗😊
Thank you for this video. I will definately try this.
Awesome and looks easy to make, thanks for sharing
Great. Boiling my first batch now. Thank you.
Purely elegant from beginning to end. 🌺
Fabulous music and recipe. I can't wait to make my own preserve.
It looks delicious. 😋 Thank you for this recipe, the ingredients and the step on making this Jam.🏆 🧑🍳 Is a must try recipe.
Txs I will make this at home. Blueberries are healthy and good.
That looks really good
Wow, so simple, definitely doing it now
Thanks for the video very much!! I made too much filling for the blueberry pie so I decided to make the rest into jam!! 😂
Looks delicious, thank you. I used a funnel when I put the jam in the jar.. I didn't want to get any of the jam on the rim of the jar. If I did, I would have had to wipe the rim off thoroughly to make sure the lid sealed properly.
Great recipe! Easy to follow! Thank you!
just made strawberry and then raspberry, this is my next one and yours looks absolutely fantastic, gotta share it with my viewrs they will love this, blueberry is delicious!😋
Wow the seal method is the best 😁
Every time I follow this recipe, my blueberry jam turns out perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Thanks 😊 I needed some jam for my macaron fillings
Thank you so much for the video!! I was so anticipated and over-excited to make it that I missed one step being cook for 25 mins, but it was still thick over low to medium heat. I saved this video for future use! 🤗🫐
I did this with leftover marc after making blueberry wine. Sure I had to add water in and change the amount of sugar, but I like this better than throwing it into the compost bin.
You’re a pro in making videos!
I usually dislike silent videos, but this one was an easy read w simple instructions, thx 😊
making ur recipe. I used 1/2 the sugar, way to sweet for me, my sauce isnt getting very thick. it is getting darker, what should i do? thx
I appreciate the straight to the point recipe tyty and for that I’m subscribing
This is amazing. I had so many blueberries in my freeze that I picked off of the bushes this year and couldn’t eat them all so I just made this jam. It’s fantastic! I doubled the batch
💙 🫐
Lucky! I have to settle for store bought, but plan to plant some blueberry bushes this up coming year!
Great demo, thanks. I just microwave the blueberries until mushy, let cool and consume with whole grain toast and plenty of butter. Probably using twice as much blueberries by not using sugar. But blueberries are awesome for that morning Vitamin C hit.
Nice idea. Im gonna do it.
This is such a perfect video. Well done on all levels. Bravo. 🏆
Great recipe, thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing, this recipe is so simple and the result is amazing! I also just want to say that you have an extraordinary channel; you're extremely underrated. I wish you much love and success! Thank you for sharing your creative ideas and recipes!
Wow. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed the music too!
You just earned a sub from all the feed back you give in the comment section.
BRAVO!
so good
Perfect
Thx for the vid. Jam was tasty
Thank you!!
Great video !
what a fine quick video.of how to make jam. i have found jam works better because it is easier to spread.with jelly depending on the bread you tear the bread trying to spread it out.this can be real issue with store bought bread.
Beautiful
Exactly the recipe I need. Making a Victorian sponge cake & don’t have any jam but I have 2 cups of blueberries 🫐
Add lemon juice. Adds a little contrast and helps with the flavor. 👍🏾
Definitely! Needs a little lemon!
Love your videos! 💟
Thank you! 😊💕
This is awesome I will be making it for my page but I will add other berries
I love jams
Great
Simple, thank you. I did this except for adding the sugar. Fruit already has enough.
Lovely video 👍👍
Sarap nito host
I love how the channel only likes the comments about the actual jam and not jimins jams
Well I'm not entirely too sure about what people are talking about 😅 Although, honestly I'm grateful because they're probably the ones most engaged in the video. I just hope they are having fun making this Jimin some jam.~ 😊🤗
It’s kinda an inside joke between the fans of a kpop boy group
@@Thesweetestjourney that’s the joke everyone’s talking about haha
nice
I added 3/4 cup of brown sugar thinking that should have made it less sweet. Man was I wrong. I should have read the comments first and only put in maybe 1/4 of sugar. Great video to show how to make blueberry jam, check on the consistency and all, but you could definitely use less sugar
Love
I just did this Jam 🙌👌 my son and wife liked it. I have sterlized the bottle and stored it. But is it required to cool the jam before heating the bottle in hot water?
Straight to the point no bullshit chapter book about your jam and childhood
ty
Congrats u have a new sub :)
I tried making this following a different recipe but just tasted of sugar but I’ll give this a go xxx
Lydia Sayle how did it go is it good jam
jimi opppaaarrr im coming wait for me
Nice video, im cooking up 6 pints of blueberries right now
yall the jimins jams thing is dead pls stop and be respectful, this isnt a bts video, and people might want to see actual useful comments
Yeah it's annoying, you're looking for useful comments and you see worthless comments that contribute nothing to what you came for
Excellent! But hey..can use foil for the cover if no aluminum cover available??
NOW I know what to do with all the blueberries I just picked!!!
Can you use boysenberry instead of blueberries?? Or do I need to change the recipe a little?? (I’m sorry it’s kind of a dumb question) I’m wanting to make boysenberry jam and I’m assuming it similar.
P.S. you video is my ultimate favorite while I’ve been looking for a good recipe!!!😊🐸💛
That intro music made me believe I was watching a "Cooking with Daniel" segment
yup...I'm always right from the start.
✌✌👍thanks for sharing with us.
Sometimes life can be so complicated depending who's behind the camera. But you really make it lookbso simply easy.👍👍
Thank you! 😊
i wonder if i can use a blender to make it more finer and pure
quick question, can i use this recipe for strawberries??
Can one successfully use canning jars, with a 1 piece lid? Also is it possible to use a jar from a store bought salsa, etc? No hate! I’ve never canned a thing 😬. Please and thank you.
how long would a jar of unopened blueberry jam last if not kept in a refrigerator? this looks great by the way very nice video !! super concise and to the point
Thank you! Unopened jams that have been sealed in a hot water bath usually last about a year when stored in a cool, dry place.
I want more video of this if possible than explain it more that was supop ❤❤❤❤
Can you do this with frozen blueberries? If so should I thaw them first or cook a bit longer?
