The relay is not only on there to activate the light on the switch, it's there to bear the load of the current so the switch doesn't and burn out 😒😒
Can this connect to a lipo cattety
Hey my little red light won't come on but the light bar comes on any reason why this happens?
This video shows how to do half of the installation. Where to mount the relay? How to run and mount the on/off switch?
What do you do with the metal end of the relay?
@Hat Bird no I have the same question
The relay is so the power to the LEDs comes directly from the battery, the switch just sends the signal to the relay to turn on the lights. If your going to sell something at least know what your talking about. Not being mean but I have seen cars/trucks burn due to bad wiring.
Can somebody put up a video of how to wire up a set of led front fog lights to a
3pin toggle switch with a safety fuse to a mk5 vw golf with a step by step guide, but include drilling through the engine compartment to the inside of the car and mounting the switch beside the handbrake.
Where do I drill the relay?
Did I hear you correctly!?!🤔
...”the relay is primarily for the indicator light on the toggle switch.”... ???
The RELAY is basically a Hi Amp switch operated by a Low Amp switch. If you only used a toggle switch on anything pulling lots of power, the switch would overheat! So the relay allows the amps needed to be delivered, but is controlled by the little 10 A switch! Just like a solenoid to a starter! The electricity operating your starter motor is NOT traveling thru your ignition switch. Your ignition switch is causing a magnet to make contact inside the solenoid to permit HI amperage to flow w low resistance thru big cables to energize the starter!!! So all that power doesn’t FRY the tiny wire from the ignition switch. I hope this cleared up anything that may have been misinterpreted!
Thank you so much for this video! I bought a light bar from Amazon and the seller didn't provide ANY info on if wiring was included or not or what wiring harness to buy to use with it. You helped me find one. Hardwiring is easy enough but I would rather just spend a few bucks on one set up already with the relay and switch and everything. Thanks again 👍🏻
Is it possible to get battery power from the under dash fuse box? That's how my fogs are powered and grounded to the chassis. Or must the big wires be directly connected to the battery?
I want an answer for this as well
I have a colight with white and amber strobe function. LED Light Bar 22'' inch Dual Color Temperature 3000K/6000K Triple Row Spot Driving Light Bar for Trucks Tractor SUV ATV Boat Cars (Amber-22inch-Curved-9631T) I have the wiring harness No. Pt1 control1. Amazon part CO LIGHT 16AWG DT Connector Wiring Harness Kit Bar 12V On Off Switch Power Relay Blade Fuse for Off Road LED Light Bars-2 Leads,2 Years Warranty can you direct me to the right switch or do I have the right switch? Thanks
FYI the switch controls the relay not the relay controls the led in the switch and the switch.
The relay is for allowing the higher higher amps a light bar uses
Not just to control the light switch
Where does the relay go though?
Did you ever figure that part out?
I just saw another video where the guy connected negative side of harness to a ground screw and not the negative on battery. I don’t understand
how do u tap the wiring harness in so the light bar comes on with cars high beam switch there seems to be a lack of provisions for this to able to done
Quick question, everything is set up right and works but when I turn my switch on, it gets really hot really fast (the switch itself) I don't know it's the red light bulb or not
Anybody have this problem
I hate how short the power & ground wire is! My battery is located in the trunk!
my light bar doesnt have a switch at the end, it just has 2 wires sticking out, can i use this
My light dosnt have the female part on the bar it's just a black wire and red wire. How would I connect them?
The reason there is a relay is multiform! Considering that less then 2 amps can kill a person, Every electrical component with a amperage draw above 2 amps should have the power running to a relay then out to its usage. The use of a relay is to keep the amperage from running threw unnecessary wiring, & to keep the amperage away from the toggle switch, toggle switch has low amperage running to it.
The switch closes the relay, thus sending power from the battery to the lights.
Where does the Relay goes?
You can mount the relay box to any area that is a ground.
These should be only powered when the brights are on! The relay should be used to protect the bright light circuit from the additional load from the lights.
Would i have to buy anything extra if i bought the mictuning mic 5dp30 single beam row but 2 8" bars?
putting this in a grille of a mustang how can i make this work i could get it through the firewall no problem and mount it but I'm not sure how it mounts to the battery under the hood or where?
Quick simple visual explanation. Thanks for the video
What size whole is needed for that switch ??
Pretty simple anybody can do this lol
I hooked the led and harness up. Does the led take battery power when car is off? Cause u can turn them on with the switch when car is off.
No, it only takes power when you turn them on thanks to the relay that you mount to a ground.
So more than one rock lights won’t work
How would I wire it into a bank of switches that already have power for the light on the switch?
Would this work for fog lights for a 99 dodge Durango
Hey there, as long as the maximum load of 18 amps is respected, this will work with any light on a 12V power - fog lights, light bars, light pods, etc. So you should be good! If you have additional questions, feel free to reach out to our tech support team who would be more than happy to assist. They can be reached 866-590-3533.
i just installed led light on my boat trailer everything works but my right signal i put the old wire it still won't flash
Don’t take right turns then. Lol
Wear does the relay go
Can you hook two Harness to one rocker switch and how would you do that
Get a double pole single throw switch. The switch will only have on/off selection due to single throw, but have 2 terminals either side
My light bar has 2 bare wires. (black/white) how do I connect since it does not have this handy end piece? Thanks (Just a girl trying to learn) 😁
My on and off switch has two color lights one is green for on and one is red for off. When i turn off my truck the red light stays on, is that normal? Will it drain my battery?
new line to the fuse box and a Independent fuse, there you got your full Installation
How do you remove the wires from the on/off switch? I tried just pulling on the clips
Hooking up two 185 watt flood lights what size fuse should I use a 30 or forty amp fuses
I buy OEM headlight projectors with leds, but they didnt came with their Led module, a relay like this can help in something or what can I use?
(Projectors works fine without the led module, but i would like something to help improve or make a job similiar of the led module)
Quick question..why would the light affect the radio signal....make it static when turned on. Is it because of the relay or what
So i've connected my lightbar and harness but now when I connect the Positive wire from the switch to the battery gets extremely hot and only lights up the switch not the bar. Any idea why? It worked before the full install.
you need a piggy back to go on your high beams switch on your vehicle i have one
Thanks. You made it really easy to explain. Thumbs up. Now I can stop paying people and do it myself.
Hi, I have a question. When you hook wire harness to the light bar does red wire from harness goes with red from light bar and black with black or is it other way round. The light bar I bought has two wires without any connector, so I am going to connect them and clip it to the wires coming from harness but not sure of color matching.
Would that be why my led light bar is making a buzzing sound since it doesn't have a relay on it? If I keep using it without a relay will it harm my light as well?
so, I have an issue. I have the same setup plug, but for some reason tonight my bar decided to stop working, is that fuse inside there used? if so I think that fuse blew because the on in my cab is okay. so basically what I am asking is the fuse used in the switch? or is it an extra? pls answer
Are the harness and the switch both waterproof? Because when I want to wash my vehicle, I don't want anything to happen.
If someone could help have light bar and wiring harness with on - off switch three wire luminated and a 6 rocker panel switch pre wired with 4 wires to be connected red black yellow and blue how to wire
Hello there, the video is pretty good, now there is something that I don't really get, what cable to the differents conection on the relay? I am lost on that matter..thanks
Please help I hook up everything for some reason fixes keep popping any ideas? Please
hey ! I have a hot wire with a fuse coming from my car battery post could I run that to the hot wire to a switch then to a 30 in led bar then the ground wire from the led to a screw on the cars frame ?
How much
How can I change that on/off switch to a rocker switch ?
Hi, i got the same harness, ut wont light automaticly when i put on the high beam, what to do?
Are they heat resistance? Planning on adding them to my dirt bike
I have 52" led bar 300 watts an I connected on my existence off lights used to be but everytime I try to turn them on smell like something is burning...any suggestions please
+Mariano Hernandez 1 Get a professional LED Light Wiring Harness
Is this harness waterproof?
This harness is sold under so many different names (auto drive )just to say one
I got one with also a blue connection, what is this?earth?
Could I connect rock lights to this harness ?
Can I cut it up to make it shorter?
Can I connect 2 LED light bars to the same harness? or Do I need to have 2 harnesses?
Where does the positive line come to trigger the relay?
So it won't work if o have two little lights?
I am installing two led light bars as fog lights do you have any harnesses that you can connect two lights to but still use just the one switch
use the whip and just splice off 2 setts of wire
8 years later video helped me
Can you pull those three wires going to the switch off so I can use a diffrent switch
Hi Jacob Popp! You can pull the wire off, just be sure the three wires are orientated correctly to the new switch. The ground wire is used to complete the circuit to the LED in the switch and should only be connected to complete the circuit of an LED illuminated replacement switch.
Great content
Man. Needed this
Just purchased one! This video was super informative! I appreciate it!
Easy money!
H
how do you get the switch through the firewall????
Hi Ethan!
Unfortunately there isn't a specific way we recommend to get the switch through the firewall as each vehicle is different. Many times there are ways to go from the engine compartment up around the upper inner fender and then snake around the door jam, then under the dash.
There is usually a spot on most vehicles where there are wires that already go through the firewall near the steering wheel that you may be able to squeeze the switch through. If not, you probably have to cut the switch off and then solder the wires back together. Just a guess on my part. I will be going through the same install next week.
@@MrDeman76 This is what I had to do. Cut off the switch, feed through the firewall and reconnect them to the switch, which I mounted into the driver window pillar.
Is there no need to ground the light anywhere?
The negative terminal of the wiring harness would be connected to the chassis on the vehicle.
How would you get current to the light ? You dumb fuck of course you need a ground.
Can you use this harness to have the lightbar come on/off with high beam? That is - if I dip high beam (turn them off) I want the lightbar to turn off too.
Can this be used with any other light bulb?for instance fog lights
Just bought two 7" straight and one 22" curved Cree lights for the top of my decoy hunting trailer. Was wondering if I can just run the wire off those lights directly to a deep cycle 12 volt battery which will be inside the trailer? Thanks
Where can I buy it?
