    I picked up this exact model back in late 2015 and absolutely love it. Rides like a Cadillac on the trails. The power steering is very good. I can ride with one hand in rough terrain very easily. I didnt buy the 1000 for the speed, I got it for the power and it has helped alot in pulling friends out a bad situations and even allowing me to get through a couple. The ONLY complaint I have is the heat it puts out. Putt Putting around on a hot day gets uncomfortable really quick. The plastics near the exhaust get so hot that I literally cant touch them. Ended up having to buy an after market exhaust and tuner to fix it.

      What exhaust &tuner did you use?

    I went to my local dealer who let me test drive the different models. I ended up going home with a 2016 Sportsman 850 SP. The power difference between the 850 and the 1000 is minimal. Im sure that the 1000 would win in a drag race,, because of the extra top end, but inside 100 foot it would be neck and neck. The 570 felt strong. Plenty stroung enough for utility work. I'll admit, i ONLY went with the 850 because of the twin cylinder engine. I am a hefty guy, i weigh almost 300lbs. and im 6'4. So I didn't want to add all that stress to a single cylinder. I figured the 850 would last longer. The 850 is 78 Horse Power. The 1000 is 89 horse power. The difference in price just was not enough to justify 11 horse power.... now for the prices... my 16 850 SP MSRP on the website for 9999. I got it with 800 off. Also the dealer sold it at 9500... so they were actually cheaper than MSRP 9500-800 discount (Summer deal days). 8700. Show me another ATV with FULL SP type options (Power Steering, Aluminum wheels, Active Decent Control, Automotive Paint) Big 78HP Inline twin cyl. engine. out the door for approx the same MSRP as a Can-Am 570 XT. Also, because the 2017's came out 3 days before I bought... he didn't offer me anything on price, but I got a FREE Polaris 3500# HD Winch with Synthetic Cable. This winch lists for 449.00 on the Polaris Web-page. If you hit the dealrs just right, you can get a GREAT polaris for less money than you can get the entry level Can-Am ATV's. After watching some Can-Am owners pages and seeing how often they break down, I am happy with my polaris. I paid an extra 500.00 dollars and have a 2 year warranty on my machine as well. Full SP Accessories... Full 850 Twin Power... ENTRY level pricing!!! nothing beats the feeling of buying american.

      dude your on drugs. 850 won't even come close to my 1000xp. it's only 14 hp more. throw a rjwc exhaust system on and it totally wakes up and is way too much power for people who are not very experienced. and my honest opinion on the sportsman is its junk. mine is broken all the time. axles belts diff. plastic nearly on fire from the big gay exhaust system they put on it. so not happy with this quad. it's fast but built cheap.

    • @JackG79

      Ernie it sounds like you bought a Sport Utility when you needed a racing machine. From the sound of of it, you have beat the balls off your machine, and are now surprised that ti's falling apart. Funny that you talk about "Putting a rjwc exhaust on it" WHy not compare them stock, as that is how people buy them!?!? Stock, they aren't very far apart. Only 11 HP difference. That 11HP could easily be made up through aftermarket clutching, K&N Air Breather kit, and a few other small tweaks. (as you said... exhaust , also a tuner will make up a noticeable difference). If youd o all that to a 1000 you'l have a real monster!! I am completely happy with my ATV. Price, quality, accessories, service EVERYTHING!!!

    the eps does ever change. electronic power steering I'd what that stands for. the way you explained eps it's like a braking system. oh by the way it has a single over head cam. the rzr 1000 Xp gets dual overhead cams. I also have both the fox podiums and the plain steel polaris shocks. if you don't ride wide open crazy fast you would never know what shock was under the bike. being a motocross guy of 30 years and some tweaking on the compression rate I notice after a bigger jump but otherwise it's not worth spending money on Fox shocks. instead buy a hd Atv Gear pinion plate. the pinion plates on the front diff break extremely easy if your hard on it in 4x4 and then it's 2500 bucks for a diff. mine broke in first 500km. also change the wimpy belt to a dayco xtx. Stock belts aren't the handling the big power to well. Front axles are also super shitty. upgrade these also to slasher or rhino axles. I'm really sorry I bought a polaris. if I could go back I'd buy the grizzly 700eps le.

    I just bought a Polaris 850 touring and did a lot of research on the 09' up models and come to find out, that the guys that ride hard are having problems and the guys that take it easy are not having problem. they just don't make the machine to handle rough riding-racing. I could totally tell on my first ride that Polaris isn't designed to take the abuse like the Yamaha-Honda-Kawasaki are designed for. But I do think Polaris they will last just as long if you ride reasonable.

      The newer version that you will get has an even better feel to it than this model. If power is what you want, then power is what you will get with the Sportsman XP 1000! Have fun and thanks for watching and commenting.

    My 570 touring sp does the same thing when u let go of the gas, the quad kinda lurches fwd a tad. It's annoying indeed. Next time I have it serviced I will mention to mechanic

    • @sharpaw1192
      @sharpaw1192 6 років тому

      Deerector the reason it's lurches you forward so much is because of the engine brake so you don't have to use your other brakes... long story short the engine brake makes your brake pads last way longer if you ride the machine smart

    I was wondering myself if the extra money between the Can Am 850 and 1000, as well as the Polaris 850 and 1000 is worth the extra power you actually get? I'm still torn between the 2 bikes and sizes. $2200 difference in the Sportsman locally. $2900 difference in the Outlanders.

    • @atvescape
      @atvescape  5 років тому

      I am surprised the price is quite that different. The 850 is going to offer you a TON of power plus most of the same bells and whistles. The bigger engines do have about 10 to 10 more horses, and that will only be felt when they are totally wound up to the top of the power band. How often can you really do that. Other than bragging rights, and a couple of more options like throttle control/drive by wire ...they are the same. The 1000 gives you bragging rights though. Thanks for the comment and watching.

    I and friends rode Polaris back in late 90s up to 2004 or so. Complete junk. We used to make bets on which Polaris would break down first on our rides. After owning 2 I bought a new 400ex Honda and never looked back
    So looks like they have come a long way since my time with them. I'm in the market again so maybe I will put aside my past experience and give them a chance

    • @atvescape

      This is an 2015 LE so the Polaris Interactive Display is not on a 2016. I think they may bring it back for 2017, and they are releasing their new models tonight.

    I got to say with no updates to the 2018 Yamaha Grizzly I have to part ways, Yamaha is doing nothing to keep their base.
