Today is a very special day. It is the launch day for Liz's fantastic book Grounded, which is a biography of turning her field into a thriving small-scale Permaculture Homestead in only 4 years. It is such an inspiring story and I know this because I was fortunate enough to read it a few months ago to write the foreword for it. You can order your copy of Grounded here: shop.permaculture.co.uk/grounded.html Or check the description for other places to buy. Happy watching🌱😀

A long time ago with 5 very small children and a husband who had a low paying job. We decided the same thing. Instead of me getting a job we bought a home on 3 acres and I stayed home and grew all our own food.

That is so true! My garden gave me a lot of comfort this past year and helped me feel not quarantined and isolated too much. I felt I could still go out into nature and the growing veggies and flowers reminded me that nature and time does go on - even if it doesn't seem like it these days!

Fabulous! I so loved this. I would love to meet Liz one day. She is such an inspiration. I’d happily get lost in her garden. I’d probably be near the ducks and the cat a lot of the time lol. I have my dog and my rabbits in my garden along with all the little creatures which are expanding as my soil improves. I know what she means when she is alone but doesn’t feel alone. I talk to the frogs the bees the worms and centipedes. All the little creatures fascinate me and I think about them making their living and leading their lives alongside mine and hopefully I don’t harm them as I go about my cultivation.

Who knows maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to meet Liz and Huw.

This is so funny I’m reading this. I just came off isolation for covid. Only had a scratchy throat on day one. That’s it. My wife commented how lucky I was. And I stated, “the good lord is paying me back for being a keeper of the land “. I said this not 10 minutes ago and now I read your comment. What a coincidence.

Im curious Liz. I have thyroid myself. Seemingly not as severe as you. Did you take medication for it and do you still? Or, Has it corrected itself? I’ve read eating lifestyle can can correct the issue but doctors will down play this. They all believe only meds can help. 🤦. I’ve corrected other things with eating lifestyle and have been interested / curious if I could in fact alter my thyroid issue by my eating lifestyle.

I’ve always been a gardener, but recently the COVID situation has made me up my garden substantially. And I can easily say that it’s time well spent. Especially when my family has veggies to eat fresh and not from a store bought and days old. I hope for that mentality for the world.

This is just lovely and so good to hear how Liz's health has improved. That just inspires me to work at my small veg plot and try and grow something this year. Last year was my first year trying and it didn't quite work out. Nothing grew but I now know my soil needs a bit off work. But with the help if Liz. Huw and Charles I think I might make a better job of it this year. Must get that book.🥕🍅🌰

Her point about alone but not lonely is absolutely on point. I work for a company which has 50,000 employees, my job involves a lot of human interaction all day. But not a single day I don't feel loneliness. When I can work in my garden on my plants during the weekend, that is when I feel fulfilled, happy, and not lonely.

Besides all the beautiful things I can say about this video: I need to say how beautiful her nails are and the movement of her hands! So calm, so tiny. Probably also tells a lot about this human. Thank you for being!

YOU are my inspiration!! As at the age of 59yrs. I've embarked on the challenge of starting a non-profit garden on the LOT next door to MY church!!! And been doing it all alone by myself!! BUT with my bad heart I have to pace myself so right now the LOT looks like what is she doing!!! BUT!! I know that I'm starting with a grass and weed filled lot! So lasagna! Lay cardboard then hugel culture!!! Very hard but enjoyable work!! BUT! This! You SHOW me that it can BE done!!! Thank YOU!🙏💝

Absolutely lovely!! This year was our first year with our garden and it brought us so much joy (and food!).My partner works at a hospital in the city, but will retire to work in the garden and use her medical knowledge to work with indigenous and medicinal plants to help people. This lady and her beautiful garden have inspired me to want to create food boxes to bring to local people in our area! Great story and video! Thank you!

What I'm loving is that although I'm watching for edible gardening inspirstion, it's hit me that my partner is experiencing those same symptoms as Liz. Add his Chronic Pain and decline in mental health and it's the same... Kind of why I want to do a similar thing to our land, so that he can find peace in it too when he's able to.... This brings me hope....
So impressed with Liz's work... Truly inspirational. Thanks for sharing Huw.

My guilty pleasure on a Saturday morning is to sip my early morning cuppa whilst catching up with Huw, Charles and Liz. I stream through my telly while tucked up in bed sipping my first cup of tea of the day. Inspirational- all three of them. But Liz and I are the same age, similar health challenges and after forty years of a high pressure management role I’ve only just discovered gardening and one year into an allotment. I’m learning so much and have just ordered Liz’s book. I can’t wait for it to arrive! Congratulations on getting published! That’s no mean effort on its own! Kind blessings on the three of you. Happy to have you ‘in my life’

My own growing journey almost mirrors yours, although I am still working so don't have as much time. But I fully agree with you about being alone in the garden, but never lonely. I do hope your video and book inspires others to set aside as small section of their garden to grow some food, because the benefits are enormous.
