    Actually loved this. I've obviously heard for years and years about how he's into comics and toys but I never knew fully to what extent, I wasn't expecting anything like this, and I still didn't get to see any comics, just awesome though. I reckon he probably loved having the chance to show it off a bit too.

      There was a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moment where he points to a toy (IN BOX!) and says ‘there’s a transformers like toy’ and instantly moves on. I’m pretty sure that was a Soundwave-before-he-was-Soundwave. Ridiculous. I love it.

    As a tv presenter I went off Johnathan Ross years ago, but as a fellow toy collector, I could spend all day discussing toys with him. You gave him and his collection the attention they deserved - unlike Fiona Bruce on an Antiques Roadshow Toy special that was shown last month, in which she characteristically mocked him and gave him all of what, 5 mins airtime? My biggest regret was selling my 500 plus Action Man collection to Alan Hall....wish I'd never done it. Prices went up the moment I had sold them to him....if I ever become wealthy I shall buy up a shedload of mint items again....one can dream...

    • @SpoonJarFilms
      @SpoonJarFilms 2 роки тому +4

      I think it was 3min 30s of Jonathan despite it being the lead in the Radio Times review and The Metro! It’s strange that action figure toys are still looked down upon on the Antiques Roadshow, they seem to prefer old stuffed bears and tin toys. The great thing about us being on UA-cam is we can dedicate an hour to a collection and try and go into some detail and it finds it’s audience. Thanks for watching.

    • @ohcrikey-bd6dr
      @ohcrikey-bd6dr 4 місяці тому

      @@SpoonJarFilms nothing strange about it. Action figures aren't anywhere near old enough to be considered 'antiques'. Old stuffed bears and tin toys are.

    I live in the states and my first introduction to Jonathan Ross was from a small clip of him on the Nirvana documentary: Live, Tonight, Sold Out. I never would have ever imagined that he was a fellow toy collector and artist. Mr. Ross comes across as a very passionate and dedicated collector. His collection showcases his keen eye for the art of vintage toys. I remember his anime program on channel 4 about 20 years ago when no one had heard of animie. Changed my life. Impossible not to instantly want an entire micronauts collection now. I thought I had heard of everything, I was wrong. Downside of such a great video is that micronauts prices are now virtually doubled.... sad face. Didn't he say he has another office? Part 2 please?

    Just to answer the question about Popy @ 24:40 - They were a company, but operated as a subsidiary of Bandai, producing more "action" oriented toys and figures in the 70's, while Bandai was basically only doing model kits (until they rebranded everything all to Bandai in the early 80's). Loved this video! Was fun seeing some peices I helped Jonathan get, actually on display! SUBSCRIBED 🥸 Great work guys!!

      Question from a random viewer/ Micronauts fan: I could be wrong but in a video, you may had said the Henshin cyborg wasn’t the first clear body figure. Was that true and what was it? (fan of all things translucent)

    I think The Phantom is as big as it is in Australia mainly because it seemed to be almost always be the comic book you would receive inside if you brought a showbag from any show/carnival, etc

    Well I did not see that coming, although I knew Rossy was into the obscure and loved his Japanese culture! What an incredible opportunity to see inside his man "cave" or apparently "office" in this instance! Who else went "noooooooo" when that toy hit the floor, only to be reassured by Joe saying its head was supposed to come off! Dull and dreary outside but this brightened my day!

      Thanks for watching! No toys were harmed in this particular episode of Toy shop on tour! Unlike series two episode one……😬
