Has it really been 4 years since that last comment? I guess so! cryogenik here once again...and I'm posting to let you all know that at long last, I've started the sequel to this project - Megametal II - and I created a Patreon page that I will be updating and sharing progress videos on as I work through the rest of the project! www.patreon.com/cryogenik. If you liked these remixes, you are going to love Megametal II! Come on over to Patreon and check out what I've been working on!
@Urrcreavesh Yes Please! Some folks have already joined up on Patreon and I'll be releasing a bunch of content this month, including 4 new Megametal II Songs for download!
Hey Everyone, Is there still interest in these remixes? I am cryogenik, the artist that recorded these cover tunes. Hit me up on twitter @cryogenik if you want to hear more like this, I am working on some new projects and may be touring with a band that can play some of these songs live!
lol @ twatter. Only reason I made a twatter account is because it seems like that's what all the youngins are using these days. I suppose I will post back up here when things materialize then. Cheers.
Always knew mega man 2 was one of the best video game soundtracks of all time. Thanks for giving it its due. Does anyone else get chills at the final slow song that rolls the credits? Game or guitar version.
There were a lot of tricks done in a MM2 TAS that were incorporated into the latest MM2 speed run. Many of them involve zipping through ceilings too. It is quite impressive.
Holy shit! This is tooooo cool! Ive always been interested in transcribing video game music to guitar but I never got close to this level! Megaman has some great tunes.
This was my favorite game when I was a kid. I always loved the music. This is a good version. And I didn't know you could warp with Item 1 like that!!! I have to go bust out my NES and try that.
yeah man ive heard me alot of remixes of this games soundtrack, being one of my favorites from when i was a kid (nigh on 30 years ago now lol) and i gotta say, this is.. EPIC!!! great job!!! and thank you!
I see... well, that's why I referred to you (didn't know who made it) as "the guitar guy", cause obviously the drums were programmed. I want to see real drums, real everything, recorded in a studio and mastered to sound awesome :D It's just so much you're able to do on your own... But yeah, I'll love to hear your future awesomeness, for sure. Hehehe.
Ahh...megaman 2...I remember it like it was yesterday...probably because it was XD . I loved this game when I played and beat it emulator style on my computer. This is an amazing video and I love the guitar music.
As a speedrunner, I focus rather heavily on sonic and multi-segment or short games. The only Megaman video that I'd ever record would be a revised speedrun of Mega Man: The Power Battles (ARC/PS2) that I would use to 1-up the current SDA run of the same game. I don't have the focus or patience to do a full run of any Megaman game, although I have practiced any and all "tricks of interest" within MM2 and MM5. In those cases, I'm a technical runner, but not consistent enough to record
LOL!!! I thought I was the only one doing the "murder suicides" on the bosses (like at 3:20). This is the first time I've ever seen anyone else do it. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a twisted Megaman Mindset. The Music is VERY EPIC indeed!
the only thing i think missed was some kind of connection between the different parts.however, this medly is truly, truly, truly outrageous....holy nice win i mean :333
was that guy... jumping on top of the blocks the dragon knocked down? That was FREAKING AWESOME!!! I also liked how he set metal gear traps for the walls, and how he fired behind him in flashman's stage. Now i have a request: could you do either a guitar or a Mario Paint remix of the mega man 7 ending theme?
Simply amazing. The glitches, the music, wow. Countless game bands have covered this and it's actually getting kinda tiresome, but this is easily the best cover of MM2 ever. Artist?
I always imagined it as being metal, and yes megaman 2 music is epic. Newer videogame music pales in comparison to the creativity of the NES 8-bit music
The going through walls and stuff is a glitch. When he quickly brings up his menu, and comes out of it, Megaman "faint warps" (that was also in the first game). Good way to avoid some bullets and such. Changes his velocity too I think.
Making the Metal Blade Hover - hold both left and right at the same time (possible on emulator or with a constructed controller Zipping - move into a wall in a way normally impossible or unexpected, and it will try to push you out "backwards", but if you're facing left, you'll "zip" right (and vise-versa) at 16 pixels/frame (which is much faster than megaman could ever move... if it works the right way, it keeps him out of walls, which is what it was designed to do...)
It would have been cool for you to do the full version of the Mega Man 2 theme, though. You know the one I mean: the one playing when they roll the robot master cast list and the end credits... linking it to the game intro theme would have been even better.
Its a tool assisted speed run. Its basically some guy using pauses and stops and slowdown and save states to make his timing perfect then he puts them all together. So its more that he is using technology well then playing the game well
It's tool-assisted, meaning he plays at extremely low speeds and rewinds when he messes up. Basically, it allows for a flawless run - everything done in it is theoretically possible to do, just extraordinarily difficult. Tool assistance removes the 'human error' factor, and, well... you can see the result.

I think it's unanimous that we would all like more of this sort of thing. I don't have a twatter account so I'll just post this here.

Do it!!
This songs are great the best ever !
+Tim Regan Did this ever happen?
2:04 - That was nice joke with change of music genre 😂
No it really is. It is the absolute most epic music ever, especially now because it has been turned into metal. Awesome.
The arrangement on the first Wiley stage is incredible. Why am I now just stumbling upon this?
Words cannot describe how amazing these two videos are.
Always knew mega man 2 was one of the best video game soundtracks of all time. Thanks for giving it its due. Does anyone else get chills at the final slow song that rolls the credits? Game or guitar version.
3:21 is the best part. Nicely done!
2:04 is PHENOMENAL. I love the change from the original ost to the guitar remix. Awesomely done.
man even the end theme was awesome. I could listen to that all day. manly tears
this is awesome!!!!!! good job whoever is playing the guitar, simply wonderful
There were a lot of tricks done in a MM2 TAS that were incorporated into the latest MM2 speed run. Many of them involve zipping through ceilings too. It is quite impressive.
I listened to this 6 years ago before i even started doing music and now im doing music studies!
ABSOLUTELY FREAKIN AWESOME!!!
I loved every part of the guitar remix you guys did. \m/
So awesome. Cleared MM2 with a friend in PS4 few weeks ago, I recommend buying Mega Man Collection :)
Whoever made the music for this video is a god on the guitar!
Dude that wily stage thing was tight.
Aww MAN this is so awesome.
best megaman medley i've heard so far.
Bubbleman's and Wily Stage 1 are absolutely awesome. This music is great.
all the songs of mega man 2 are good, incredible!!!
If you read the info about the video, you will see that one who have made the music, Cryogenik sells it on CD.
Aweeesome. I listen to this while working on art projects. Inspiring!
Great music. Amazing run.
Uh, whoever is actually playing in the video is easily the best megaman player I've ever witnessed.
Yeah I noticed that.... :(
I just didn't feel like posting it here for no reason. Glad you did though. (They still play the songs very well IMO)
I'm totally agree... sounds quite good.
Fantastic vid, the music is amazing and the speed run is madness!
You know, to this day, I had no idea about those wall/ceiling glitches. Awesome work on combining the music and the vid though :D
The 3 item-1 move at 2:45 always tripped me up
I dream with this day, the day who Megaman song´s tunning into a really heavy metal , music that create a megaman songs fron the 80´s and 90´s
TKX Bro
yeah man ive heard me alot of remixes of this games soundtrack, being one of my favorites from when i was a kid (nigh on 30 years ago now lol) and i gotta say, this is.. EPIC!!! great job!!! and thank you!

Oh god, gotta love the Bubbleman Theme - tremendous work!
I see... well, that's why I referred to you (didn't know who made it) as "the guitar guy", cause obviously the drums were programmed. I want to see real drums, real everything, recorded in a studio and mastered to sound awesome :D It's just so much you're able to do on your own... Im speechless.. You did an awsome job!
I am one of the biggest original NES megaman fans ever, and the only thing i can say is WOW!!!
awesome music, and insanely maneuvering!
I agree with u man! Those r the best MM2 songs
@SkebaSankari93 No kidding, I keep rewinding to it over and over. Imo best in the video.
As a speedrunner, I focus rather heavily on sonic and multi-segment or short games. I'd pay real money to see you do this with Thunderforce 3, possibly the only other game with a soundtrack this good. Nice one mate.
LOL!!! I thought I was the only one doing the "murder suicides" on the bosses (like at 3:20). This is the first time I've ever seen anyone else do it. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a twisted Megaman Mindset.
The Music is VERY EPIC indeed!
my body shivered in the epicness of wily's 1st stage
@UgliStiK14 This game does have an amazing soundtrack, i also love TMNT Manhattan project soundtrack!
That was EPIC jumping at Mecha Dragon's battle.
mega man 2 has the best music out of all the mega man games!!!
@Andnizzle haha I know! The best thing about it: I didn't even plan it to line up like that. Just sorta happened. :D

That's my fav too, and few play it this good!
very very good nice gameplay and nice guitar version like it ;D

Now i have a request: could you do either a guitar or a Mario Paint remix of the mega man 7 ending theme?
bubble man was my favorite
And yes, how did you get him to do all of the glitchy stuff? After all these years, Megaman still has the power to shock. What a guy.
yeah I just googled them and downloaded some songs off of their site. Thanks for the name drop :)
Megaman 2 had THE BEST soundtrack of EVERY NES game ever.
Awesome. Bubbleman's and Wily's second stage music is great.
I would have to agree with you on that one!
this speed run is incredible
GENUIS!!!!! bEAST!!!! ITS IMPOSIBLE!!! yOU ARE GOD!!! AND THE SOUNDBAND IS GRATE!!!

Bubbleman's theme is just too epic!
0:56 best Bubbleman cover i've heard. holy shit bro.
Simply amazing. The glitches, the music, wow. Countless game bands have covered this and it's actually getting kinda tiresome, but this is easily the best cover of MM2 ever. Artist?

Superb!
Do you know where we can find the full versions of these songs? I'd like to give you more views if you have them, TomBob...
Making the Metal Blade Hover - hold both left and right at the same time (possible on emulator or with a constructed controller
Zipping - move into a wall in a way normally impossible or unexpected, and it will try to push you out "backwards", but if you're facing left, you'll "zip" right (and vise-versa) at 16 pixels/frame (which is much faster than megaman could ever move... if it works the right way, it keeps him out of walls, which is what it was designed to do...)
@todbot1 it's a TAS ( tool assisted speedrun )

It would have been cool for you to do the full version of the Mega Man 2 theme, though. You know the one I mean: the one playing when they roll the robot master cast list and the end credits... linking it to the game intro theme would have been even better.
WOW, you are really awesome
holy shit, take a close look at the dragon boss... the player jumps off the blocks that have already been knocked off. that's insane!
Awesome game, awesome music !!!
Its a tool assisted speed run. Its basically some guy using pauses and stops and slowdown and save states to make his timing perfect then he puts them all together.
So its more that he is using technology well then playing the game well
i wanna buy this album!!!!
I love the ending song.
I fully agree dude.
Mega man 2 is badass hands down
Love the re-made Wily Theme.
Never Heard a so good cover....especially for BubbleMan ! awwwwwwwwwwwww Where can I find these songs ?
