When I display the Apple Car Play screen it completely covers the whole screen so I don't see the icons below the screen. How can I get it to display like yours?

I am afraid, this is an exclusive Android Auto feature. Note, that the icons are not system icons, but only provide navigation and control within Android Auto. Still, they are super handy, I have to admit.
