holy shit it's books! great wrap up those are some chonky books. I really like the way you are able to articulate what you enjoyed in a book. Hearing you talk about Malazan really makes me want to read it, maybe one day!
Banger fucking month. Major feels on the Malazan experience and you have nothing but perfect takes on The Shining.
Finding Sun Eater = me sadge. Great video!
yessss Crippled God! you read many huge books
We read two of the same books this month, Ashes of Man and Republic of Thieves! I agree about RoT but you liked AoM a little more than I did. Really hoping you love Hobb as much as the rest of us 🤪
I almost jumped on Ashes of Man, but I'm saving it haha.
Starting Malazan this year...rereading Gardens of The Moon this month and then the rest are all new to me! Wish me luck Kev!!
good luck, Lauren! plenty of people to answer questions if you need it 😎
Great to see you completed Malazan and loved it. But the plot threads which are not resolved here are all picked up by Ian C Esslemont in his Novels of the Malazan Empire series. That is a must read after finishing Book of the Fallen. Many of the plot threads and continents which are mentioned in this series but not explored are all explores in detail in that series.
Wicked wrap up, man. And shit, hearing you talk about Malazan...wow. I promise to try Scott Lynch this year as well...I think I'll enjoy it.
im tellin ya, man. Malazan as a whole might not be for everyone, but there's something every single person could take away from it. incredibly moving and life changing. on the other hand though, i think Scott Lynch actually could be for everyone 😂almost positive you would love those
Great wrap up, and a stacked month!!! Love hearing what you thought about Ashes of Man -- I am SO PUMPED for it -- Ruocchio's slow burn sections are my favorite parts. Also happy that Republic of Thieves was a solid read for you -- I still have to continue past Lies. And Assassin's Apprentice was a great read for me too, and you're in for a treat with Royal Assassin.
you gotta get to Ashes of Man ASAP. it didn't have that *special something* that Howling Dark and Demon in White did for me, but at the same time it combined aspects of both of those books and there's no real complaints i have about it. Ruocchio is a genius
@@kevin.jenkins amen!!
I can't wait to get back to sun eater but I've got to read a couple of books before I can pick the series back up. Iv'e only read the empire of silence so far. The crippled God is one of my favorite books of all time along with the bonehunters, I'm glad your Malazan journey was so great!
Adam. you gotta get to Howling Dark and Demon in White ASAP. trust me on this one ☀️🍽
@@kevin.jenkins I've gotta finish the forgetting moon and fools errand first, then I was going to read the darkness that comes before but I guess I can fit in howling dark before it.
@@fluffypenguins this is the way
I may have said this on another of your vids but in case I didn't, you're a Bridgeburner now!
In December I read:
*Espionage*
Call for the Dead / John le Carré
- It was fine.
*Fantasy*
Sword of Shannara / Terry Brooks
- Post-Apocalyptic story heavily influenced by LotR. Didn't love it. I've the rest of the trilogy but since they're all standalones I'll spread these out throughout the rest of the year. Probably.
*Sci-Fi*
Eversion / Alastair Reynolds
- My first Reynolds and definitely not my last.
*Urban Fantasy*
Dresden Files 15: Skin Game
Dresden Files 16: Peace Talks
Dresden Files 17: Battle Ground
Dresden Files 17.4: The Law
- I'm caught up!
looks like a dope month! Alastair Reynolds is an author I desperately need to get to soon. Hoping to also start Dresden in the near future, as well!
