I love your little "fellows", they are just adorable! How talented you are. I just watched the beautiful Dragonfly...WOW!... thank you so much for the tutorials. I want to make a few dragonflies to put on outside chairs and plant pots. Thanks again!
How to make a small plant pot from an aluminium drink can. I remove the top of a Red Bull aluminium drink can. Using a metal snips (a big iron scissors) and a hacksaw blade. Just use the latter if you don't have the former. Slowly cut pieces of the top off. From the centre to the edge. On and on. Then slowly cut small holes in its bottom with a box cutter. Fill it with potting soil and plant a small plant in it. Voila.
You know I tried making these and I started to think, I make homemade beads out of paper and they are exactly the same as what your dealing with in regards to this ant except that they are made of paper and my hands don't suffer with cuts. If you'd like to see how mine looks let me know.
Ant needs an abdomen. They've got three distinct body segments. I like that the thorax can be divided into three beads, each with legs, but it needs a big butt. I think I'm going to tie on an abdomen with the back leg wires, and then just insert three sets of legs individually in the thorax pieces. You said the goal was to inspire, i.e., not necessarily provide an immutable blueprint. And you've done that!
Hi, thanks for watching. My insect anatomy could use a little work. I also put antennas on my dragonflies and folks have alerted me to that error. 🤣🤣 I would love to see the version you come up with. Do you post anywhere on line? Have fun with your project. 🙂
@@UpcycleDesignLab I don't really have an art page or anything. I mess around with countertop epoxy, paper maché, painting miniatures, and things like that. But I have a ton of aluminum can sheets waiting for a project, and I just need to order that bead-roller. A recent project was hiring a guy on fiverr to draw illustrations of all of my family members. I printed these on clear plastic, and incorporated them into a set of dominoes. So instead of a domino having 3 dots on one side and 6 dots on the other, it has a picture of my sister Julie on one side, and my mom on the other - faces instead of dots. That was fun. But anyway, I enjoyed watching several of your videos and I will eventually get around to making some aluminum garden pals.
@@Wilphartyou are very creative. The domino idea is so fun. Stay crafty. And I hope you enjoy the bead roller. I have gotten pretty addicted to mine. 😁😁
Thank you for not assuming everyone has a cricut. Lots of crafters do but lots do not.
It is a fun toy but I know not every has one or wants one. 🙂
I think this is going to be a great gift for my friend who has a garden. I’m going to make my bigger

Thanks for watching I'm happy you liked the project 😊
When you had the antennae bent down in front of the head it resembled a mandible and was very ant like! I believe I will try to add one to mine. ❤
Have fun. Thanks for watching 😊

Super ideas and great tutorials. I get the fear when you’re handling the aluminium can sheet though! Do you get a lot of paper like cuts???
Hi Penny - I haven't ever really cut myself but you do need to be careful of the burrs and rough edges. Thanks for watching.

Hi yes you could totally make these from paper but I probably wouldn't put them in my plants. 🙂🙂🙂
