CV3 is worth the play through. Its one of the first games that allow you to switch to another character and it has a "choose your own adventure" map style. There's 3 additional characters to the main character and each have their own abilities. CV1 was the first game I ever got to pick out as a kid in the late 80's and I think CV3 is a masterpiece. Huge CV fan.

Finally, some love for NES Monopoly! When my family was selling our last house, I’d occasionally have to leave so potential buyers could come look at it. I’d go to this little gas station/diner, get a cheeseburger and play Monopoly on my Gameboy to kill time. The diner had this mom-and-pop shop kind of feel, it was really welcoming. I’m sure it sounds weird but I always think of those times when I play Monopoly now.

The NES version of Monopoly is still one of the very best versions out there. It's amazing how well executed the gameplay is. I've played more modern versions of the game that just feel a bit clunky and slow. The NES version had great pacing to it for sure.

I love anything Carmen Sandiego, and “Where In Time...” is impressive for being an NES game, but MY GOD it’s insanely difficult as far as how much time you’re given. Even on your first case, you have to almost be perfect with no mistakes, otherwise your time will run out guaranteed.

I always thought Kung Fu was based on Bruce Lee from that movie where he had to fight a boss on every floor, one of whom was Kareem Abdul Jabar. It might be a premise seen a few times. That happens a lot, like Journey to the West being one of the better known cases.

Excellent! Been subbed to you for years but just started getting into retro games in the last couple weeks. My first system was a 2600 but NES will always be that one that meant the most I think.
Castlevania made me want an NES. Castlevania 2 was the first one of them that I owned. I remember feeling so triumphant that I figured out the kneeling crystals thing on my own. I wasn’t even trying to. I was so mad that I couldn’t figure it out, I kneeled and went left and right repeatedly as if Simon was bashing his head against the rocks. Then the tornado came and it blew me away. I thought for years that you had to do the back and forth thing. I loved that game although I agree that generally, I prefer a linear progression in platformers. It was at least something new at the time when it felt like every game was a scrolling platform. We called them “boards” back then.
    Anyway, great collection

There are so many rare games in this video that this is less of nostalgia trip and more of an unfiltered spirit ball of just how much you love playing retro video games! You could have easily spread this and the PlayStation video across several years of content; instead you've laid out your entire collection concisely for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for sharing this wealth of memories. The like was easy to give. I am hoping that people will reference this slice of NES goodness for years to come.

I didn't get my NES until the Christmas/NYE holidays of 1988/89. The Atari 2600 was my ONLY video game console from 1982/83 until my older brother, home for the holidays, left me his NES and games when he left returned to wherever he was stationed at the time in the Navy. It literally changed my life as a gamer. Sure, I had played the NES plenty of times over at friends houses, but I FINALLY had my very own. If I remember correctly his collection of NES games was SMB/Duck Hunt, the Legend of Zelda, Golf, Karate Champ, Kung Fu...Hmm...That might be it. I had RC Pro-Am and the Battle of Olympus pretty early on, but I believe those were purchases I made AFTER I got the console.

Journey to Silius is one of my favorite games on the system. Made by the talented people of Sunsoft, it shares many merits which were common with other games from the studio; responsive controls, beautiful graphics, good level design and excellent music. And I love the fact it was meant to be a Terminator game. Although Sunsoft lost the license in the end, some familiar looking enemies were left behind. Really looking forward to see your review of the game, Pam!

Ufouria, Little Samson adventures and Megaman3 were my favourites on this system. But nowadays It's really hard for me to go back to 8bit games, although I still love the 16bits era.

I remember playing Monopoly all night with my cousins. I loved that game, and I always had to be the race car. I also remember Silent Service, and can say I never had any idea what I was doing in it, either. I loved the Mega Man games. Mega Man 4 was the first game I bought for myself brand new. I saved up my allowance for three months and walked into the game store when it came out, slapped a fistful of five dollar bills on the counter and proudly said, "I want Mega Man 4!" to the clerk.

You have a very nice Nintendo collection with quality titles. I really enjoy the Castlevania, Contra, Ninja Gaiden and Double Dragon
games just to name a few. I recently found Bat Man at a garage sale which I was looking out for quite a while now and I think it's made really well. Great video

Great collection and review, as your individual game reviews are excellent! (In reference to your Sega CD reviews, I totally had the same 1st impressions as yourself, and final.) The NES is a great nostalgic system as I just barely got back into collecting NES & NES games. I had to resort to 2 multicarts to save wear n' tear on games + system.* Lastly 1990 must have re been the year of the NES, as mine was for Christmas. Keep up the great work! Any Sega Saturn reviews?

Thanks for the video. I never had an NES growing up (I went from Atari 2600 to computer to Sega Genesis), so it was entertaining and informative to see this. Moon Crystal looked a lot like Mystic Defender on the Genesis. Right down to the jumping on trees and the way that the characters would explode. I remember reading back in the day that Batman had additional processor chips inside to help it do more than the NES could do by itself (a prelude to the FX chip in SNES games). Some of those games look so good they looked like TG16/PC engine games with a smaller color palette.

    • @Cannotbetamed1
      @Cannotbetamed1  5 років тому

I think that was Batman: Return of the Joker that used the different chip.

Great Nes collection, congratulations. My favourites Nes games are Batman, TMNT The arcade game, Gun Smoke, Shatterhand and Super Mario Bros. 3. I prefer to collect NES cartridges because currently is too difficult to find complete games and cheap. Anyway, Nes cartridges look fantastic :P Greetings from Spain.

I cackled at, "This game is sort of like Zombies Ate My Neighbors, except... without being fun." That was a refreshingly honest NES video. I'm completely with you on a number of the popular ones and kind of think the NES as a whole is a watered down version of the Famicom. I don't think you mentioned Crisis Force... if you haven't played that one, it's very Gun-Nac/Recca-ish. (I tried Gun-Nac because of your review and it's now one of my favorites as well!)

I love Ninja Gaiden! I never really played too many obscure games on NES. I stuck mostly to the more popular games. Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man, Contra, Mario, Ducktales, Bionic Commando, Final Fantasy, Punchout, Castlevania ect.
Low G Man was a game I loved that not many people I know had played. Its so hard.
Have you ever played Uninvited? I remember loving it and it scared me as a kid but I dont think it really holds up.
Nice collection. I sold mine years ago but have thought about starting one again.

Nice one Pam. I definitely think you have some gems in your NES collection that you haven't played much, but going back to them after having played modern games can be frustrating. As for Journey to Silius I imagine you won't love the game because of its controls being a little off and the high difficulty, but damn it has an amazing soundtrack.
