Thank you for the help. I bought a new one and compared the test and was put at ease to know it was that vs finding a deeper problem like the actual pump.
I experienced an interesting problem with the control relay on a 3/4 HP submersible pump. A 1 year old pump started blowing the recommended 10 amp fuses every few weeks. Pin 5-2 measured 4.75 ohms. Run current draw measured with a Fluke clamp on meter was on spec and line voltage was correct though I did not measure transient voltage at start up. Changed the capacitor, no improvement. Installed 15 amp fuses and problem went away for a few months. Installed 20 amp fuses for a test only and they opened. Replaced the controller and returned to recommended fuses. No failures 4 years and counting.
In this vid, you show a 4.5 to 7.0 for a 230 reading for a 230 V system. My relay is a 27 year old GE 3ARR3. My reading shows 3.73 that after a dozen tries. I just going to buy a new relay but from your vid it seems like I should be getting the 4.5 - 7.0. The GE relay is identical at least with the 5-2-1 poles with the white one you show beside the Franklin control panel. I don't know if you read the comments but enjoy your videos.
water pump stopped working. Did the test and on Cap and terminal B it goes to 15.05 and then bottoms out at 13.0. Does that mean the relay is bad. In the video it says you shouldn't get anything. Thanks so much
Could you please provide a video explaining the internal schematic of the relay for 5 HP controller (305213961) and how it works? I am learning about my controller. Thanks
We had a 1 hp and our relay isn’t passing the test, so I’m shopping for another one, but finding it difficult to find only the relay (blue). So can we use any other size relay or if I get a new control box, do I definitely need to get another 1 hp, or is it interchangeable for a different hp size?
Hola amigo, como funciona el QD RELAY En conjunto con el capacitor, en las bombas sumergibles, en Español. Por favor, me rs muy imteresante rl tema, gracias por la atencion brindada. Saludos desde mexico.
Please note. The relays are potential start relays. They should be replaced with the correct drop in and drop out voltage! The pump motor builds up back EMF which causes the relay to take the start capacitor out of the circuit. Please advise everyone to replace the relays with the correct drop in and drop out voltage. It's just not a simple relay!
A quick comment about a previous video you made on testing a start capacitor. What you didn't mention is that even though the ohm check is good that doesn't mean the capacitor is good. My ohm test was fine until I did a mfd check. This is on a 27-year-old 230 VAC shallow well red jacket submersible pump with a start capacitor 64-77 mfd. The mfd test was a failure with the meter jumping around a bit but not even reaching 10 mfd eventually just going back to one. The control box also has a second York 10 mfd in which both the ohms and μF checks out fine. But I have a question about your another vid, so will post another comment. By the way, I have watched almost all of your vids, some several times, and I have learned a lot. I feel like I'm a quasi electrician now.

I have to tell you guys, hands down you have the best channel on these "well" subjects. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks!! That's what we strive for!

I have the same relay with the same result. Did you replace yours?
got 49 m ohms on CAP and B, trying to find a replacement now. thanks for the video! really!
Having the same problem. Did this work?
Where can I buy it?

Do you have a suggestion of where I can purchase the larger relay

Can relay work intermittently?
Yes

Hi I have a problem with my water pump it keeps on tripping ,its a pressure kind of water pump how can I go a bout it
thank you thank you very well explained
Glad it was helpful!
Sir it is if the relay 5 and 1 have a resistance
Hi. Could I connect a bomb without relay? How can i do it?
Sir what happen if telay coil #5 have a contact to relay #1
If I am getting a .3 reading on that last test between B and L1. Would that indicate replacement?
Hi there.... I got 9.8 ohms on a 1.5hp box. And it did not read k ohms on the meter. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Do the start relays have some type of liquid in them mine appears to be leaking at the cap wire connection
It may have leaked down from the capacitor. Your probably need to replace the whole box
what about the test of the pin cap and the pin L1.?

Is there a place to buy these relays?
We sell them: 855.329.4519
I have a big black relay that also has a #4 and 6 in it and it is testing 11.5 between 5 and 2 is the relay bad?
Give us a call with the control box part # and we can help: 855.329.4519

Thank you. His videos are very good but a quick explanation like you just did would be great.
Is it normally open relay showing 0 cero right
couid you share the relay diagram?

Hello sir, what is the value of the starting and running capacitor for 3hp goulds submersible pump? Thank you sir

@@RCworstwater thank you sir
Where can I get a replacement relay for p/n 223415905 1/3HP 115V?
That part # is not popping up for me. Can you give us a call? 855.329.4519

My relay just keeps short cycling very very fast.
Thanks, & nice shirt! (Wearing almost the same one as I watch) no water but at least I can laugh
Glad you enjoyed!
I will relay this to my tech friends yes lol
