I search for this video to remember how everything goes back in. 😂 Going to return it. Does not work well in my area. I've moved it to areas in my apartment where I could get a stronger signal but keep having signal problems. Good luck to everyone else.
This is very helpful as I'm re-boxing the 5G Modem/Router, Not because the device and the service is in any way deficient but because I used it as a stopgap to reset our cable internet connection resulting in $650 net saving per annum. Thankyou
My local T-mobile store has no idea when they will get the white gateways in. I actually saw them selling a new Nokia trash can to an old man. Unloading old stock to the un informed..geez. I had to order the new white gateway over the phone and asked for the new gateway, or I was going elsewhere. I ordered on Tuesday and received it on thursday. Love this thing! I'm getting 320 mbps down and 60 up.
Nothing wrong with the trash can boo. Been using mine since it came out. 800 down 150 up. Have restarted it less than 20 times since it came out several years ago. No reason to change at this point as there's little to no difference between the can and this new one minus the ext antenna and potential stand alone stuff but that's not even been released or needed imo.
@@Bryan-Hensley I have used the Nokia gateway for 3 years. The downloads on this device are faster. Uploads on the Nokia is better but with external antenna support built in it has potential to be far better than the Nokia gen 1 device. Also the Nokia doesn’t support n77 or standalone which T-Mobile is actively repurposing its LTE to 5G. Trust me. I’m not misinformed.
Just called and Started a new Home Internet Line. Rep confirmed I would receive the new gateway. Im most excited to be able to hook up external antenna easily.
Well that rep lied, they can't guarantee what you get. Saturday, Two days after ordering, shipping email said I was getting the Sagecom. Finished up this morning after an hour being on the phone to finally get the Sagecom returned. Once it's delivered today, the return label will be going on it. And also I've been told by a store and a phone rep, that if you order online or on the phone, you can't go to the store for exchange. Only in store orders can be exchanged in store. Anyways waiting until a store near me gets the new gateway so I can request that gateway at the store.
Thank you for making the unboxing video. I could not figure out how to get the window base back in the box. I’m returning mine because I don’t get great signal in my area.
After this unboxing you went outside and changed the oil in your car. LOL. The gloves. Seriously though, thank you for the unboxing. I have the Nokia trash can. I've been pretty happy with it for sure. I like that the new gateway has the external antennas.
Definitely hate the look but if it performs way better than it's a win can't wait to get mine if you are a current T-Mobile customer you have to cancel your service then reapply the upgrade at least that's what I had to do I started two-and-a-half years ago with the silver trashcan looking device I had to cancel to upgrade to the black Gateway and then I had to cancel again to upgrade to this new one
Actually no, I really appreciate how he showed unpacking it because I had to return mine and for dear life could not figure out how and where to put the device holder in so… thank you so much for showing how you unpacked it. ❤

The color is bad, having a white router while the screen and the buttons are black, they should have stayed with the black color! Also do you know if it has improved for gaming? I tried it before and it worked well for normal functions except gaming, and I am a hardcore gamer and it is probably what I use the internet for the most. Wondering if the new router works with gaming. EDIT: I have heard that T-Mobile's 5G home internets problems with gaming comes from the technology T-Mobile uses with the service, not the router itself. So it is a T-Mobile problem not a router tech problem. Any idea if they have updated or changed the tech they use to give these routers there connection?
If you are a hardcore gamer I would go for Verizon’s home internet instead. No port forwarding makes this an immediate no go for anyone but casual gamers. In short gaming is the same it’s always been with every box.
Nice gateway. I have only 3 of the 2 types of gateways 2 sagecoms and one (Arcadian) how ever you spell it. Had this several days. Poor reception compared to t-mobile 5G cell service on my phones. Almost no control of settings and setup of what it can actually do. Speed test down-40-170 thru whole day/up-1-11. (ex: iPhone 12 on 5G WiFi network with this gateway 11:25 pm 58 download, 7 upload, t-mobile cellular 5G network on phone same time and location 201 download, 8 upload). Called t-mobile with questions, they say I’m their first call and they know nothing about how it is working/settings (since their app basically shows hardly anything of how it is set other than a lte and 5G band it is on.
You will never ever get the same as your phone on any home internet box. I went to a site and got 1.6gbs down on my phone and only 800 on this device and my other Nokia T-Mobile home internet device was only 750. It’s not poor reception it’s how T-Mobile routes the home internet. Mobile comes first. Home internet is only to use up excess capacity to the site. Your phone will always perform better
I understand that. This lists the advanced hardware it can do but no control to change these. Does not use the aggregation. I have 2 towers just near me with n25, 41,71,77 & 66 but it only locks to towers on the other side of Pittsburgh many miles away with b2 and n41. No way to change bands. And though separate 2.4G and 5G networks were created by me, though they initially showed. After a few hours the 5G network disappeared from availability in all of my devices though it shows in the T-mobile internet app as created ready and available. Is t-mobile taking the whole 5G network availability from home internet customers? So I am on the setting for the device to pick and switch to the strongest signal by itself between 2.4G and 5G (their recommended setting option). And they said to remove my cable modem and router away from it because it causes interference. Without the router near it the signal continuously stays 50 or below download but with the router in front of it gives the strongest signal (gateway antennas are in the back of it) and stays stronger. I have no clue how. I just know I’ll be doing a lot of experiments with locations, connections, connecting to other routers, and at some point someone will be able to figure how to disable the WiFi on it to try a separate router as the WiFi only to determine if it can be fast enough to be worth it where I am. Because now, my webpages load like it did when I had lte around 15 years ago (clock then words then clock the gradually different images of the webpage show up), and streaming buffers at times and fire stick and Roku loses connected equipment and it must be reset to find it (such as Tablo tv). None of this ever occurred with Xfinity (which I still have not cancelled, just is not connected right now).
Could you give advice if I am decreasing a signal with a Wi-Fi router, cable modem, magicjack device and Ethernet switch near it and on a metal stand? If it would work better if plugged directly into a tplink wifi6 router. And a possible reason why a tplink Ethernet switch does not work plugged into the T-Mobile gateway but works fine on 3 different routers and a xfinity gateway, though the items plugged into the switch works fine plugged directly into T-Mobile gateway (but I need more than 2 Ethernet connections that T-Mobile gateway provides)?
5G. I don’t even know why T-Mobile came out with that LTE gateway when they said that by the end of 2024 the only band that will be left on LTE will be b12.
