@@PaintflowExceptionYeah most jdm weebz are detached from reality and dont even follow the 24hr lemans or nurburgring laptimes. If they did they wouldnt even look jdms way. They often mistake cheap and affordable tune ups as upgrades when jdm cars are actually underperformers from the factory meaning tuns ups make them mid performance and not high performance sports cars. A corvette can be tuned to GT2 levels with some stock parts left stock. Jdm cars typically when tuned wont last 24hr races and the japanese gt500 races are shell cars not to be confused with tuners as they have nothing in common with the factory vehicle. In otherwords the peak of motorsports engineering includes the likes of corvettes whereas cars like the LFA or GTR wont even be consideded at the lab.
@@TvBoxHead yeah, I mean. I feel it's more a marketing miss. The Camaro I feel like was marketed as new and fresh, but it's now dead. I guess it's one of those things, Corvettes speak for themselves.
@@TvBoxHead I'm a big Japanese car fan and Porsche car fan, but even playing some of the older Gran Turismo games as a kid I saw the Corvettes as motorsport cars.
i'd like to see more time attack. preferably you trying different setups to see what gets you a faster time. whether its suspension settings or a new part.
Personally, I’d LOVE to see you get into Time Attack. With your sponsors and facility, I feel like you could build a very competitive car. And I’m sure Okamura-san would be proud to see you get into it too!
Sammit amazing vid and I mentioned to Dustin you called him out about his lap time and it's always good to see yous together and hopefully him and the Evo will rip and throw down a sick lap time im rooting for him and yes you Def got to get into grip and Time Attack on the side I think you would be a natural but still drift as well and as always keep up the great work 👍
I hope you give a shout-out to the new NA record, which I think is at least as impressive. Most time attack guys, as I’m sure you know, are on A050 - there aren’t many using Hoosiers like Feras. Most who are have well over 1000hp, and almost all of those happen to be the top guys at Tsukuba too. I’d say good results are pretty predictable with 1300+hp, Hoosiers, a professionally engineered aero setup, and a few years of continuous development. Seeing these times, I’m reminded of the JGTC NSX that was less than a second slower at the same weight, barely 1/3 the power, and vastly less aero. A lot different, maybe, but I think it highlights just how much of these awesome lap times comes from brute power and downforce. Still very cool and impressive for many reasons, of course.
I can highly recommend following a race team coming up to a big meet, the trials and tribulation make great automotive drama. Documenting Okamura's preparation and trip to WTAC would be a great story
That vette is absolutely FLYING. Sounds wild too, good luck to the competition. I love the mix of people showing up in miatas and then in the same track space there's GT2RS's
I remember that Corvette dude from Gridlife days, turbos poking behind front wheels, hmm..very cool, and look at him now, thundering at Tsukuba. Also left some question marks in Australia, way to go man.
Feras is a nice dude. Met him on a weekend when we were doing HPDEs out at Cresson MSR as he was debugging his car a few years ago. We talked Corvettes for a few mins as I helped him load up his car at the end of the day. Very approachable guy. Missed him at COTA SLB this year though!
i would love to see the differences between setting up a car for grip V drifting, and to know if it is possible to run the same car in both types of events at an amateur level and what would be the key changes in the set up you would have to change for the different disciplines
Do it! i never initially followed for the drift content I just find your content entertaining. What ever makes you happy, seems to be making you produce entertaining content. It could just be me but I feel most of your followers would agree.
You should get into Porsche! Its also a thing if you buy too late they go too expensive. There is so much to learn! And also a lot of handy things one can learn for future projects
Sammit epic vid and let's go the SR20 God himself and his S15 is so sick 👌 and Congrats to yous and him for all the hard work wrencing and him driving I knew he would do it 👍 now you gotta get out there I know you would be a natural and crush some lap times and as always keep up the great work 👍
I’ve seen that C6 when it came to Sydney! That thing sounds awesome when it flies past! That guy knows how to wrestle that car, heaps of track records to prove it!
Love to see more grip related content, it's my first car love, drifting is art, but time attack is passion. I'm saving up for a EF/EG K swap, living between Spa, Nurburgring, Zandvoort and TT Assen. All within 3 hours drive from my house, can't wait to spend every weekend on and around these tracks.
I think it'd be interesting to broaden more of what Japan has to offer for motorsports. I think it's just a question scheduling. Pretty sure most of us in your channel would not mind if you got into time attack and grip racing along with your drifting series. I also hope you and SAMMIT HQ team can get drag racing more popular in Japan. If Japan takes on drag racing as serious as drifting, watch out !!!
Grip events will be where you can learn other driving skills that will improve your overall performance and give you a rewarding experience . Doing track days as an above left knee amputee shows anything is possible and never shy away from new experiences they just increase your knowledge .
Sammit epic vid and those cars are Legendary specially that Vette that thing is insane I seen his vid a little while back that he broke one of the Tsukuba track lap records and like you said in your chat show thats gonna push everyone else to wrench and go after the record nothing like healthy competition and you gotta get out there I bet you would be a natural and I look forward to all your future content and as always keep up the great work 👍
Feras was ridiculously fast but didn't break any records in Japan bar being the fastest a foreigner has gone. The top two spots are still occupied by Japanese drivers. If anything I hope it pushes feras to push it a bit further and go for the overall #1 spot next year!
Thats funny, the GTR at the end withe gt decal, is the same car I got a 52or53 in gt7 by half drifting into straight cut out the corner, wonder if that would work 4real? 😁 wish I was there!
I'd be down for grip stuff. Love that. Somewhat follow Time Attack and WTAC as much as I can. Also hope Dustin got the issues sorted and can set a solid lap with no failures. Also the Corvette and all the cars were super sick. The EG's, Porsche's. FD's, GTR, Z's and the Yashio S15 etc. Also gratz getting the 56 seconds! I remember from my Gran Turismo days getting under the 1 minute mark is quite hard on Tsukuba, but dude I love that track so much. It was pretty much my go to for testing cars in GT 😆
Yooo! 100% want to see you doing more grip driving! Get that Evo you've been supposed to buy for ages and ages since you sold the TME and build it for time attack!
Damn Farris has came along way since he was featured on Larry Chen's YT channel and that was 5 or 6 years ago. He had just built that monster ass corvette and years later he's finally got thar bad girl dialed. Its awesome to see how much that dude and his car has has grown over the last few years. Now my dudes out there in Japan breaking records
I think the more u make it weird about bringing new stuff to ur channel the more people will make it weird... just do what you want and enjoy it and we will all enjoy it with you sam ❤ and new people will come too
I'd love to see you get into more grip/time attack... it's a totally different discipline from drifting, but as Okachan has shown, you can be very good at both.
Love the idea of more grip, but defo stay drift as main. It would be good to see your confidence and skill grow in multiple disciplines, and maybe some wangan/C1/touge runs in a solid "grip" orientated car.......but that's just my opinion.
Normal people just hear a rumble of a v8 but all I hear is bald eagle screech and freedom on that straight .! 🦅
Japan needs more freedom, little boy and big boy wasn't enough freedom.
It's a joke people

14:44 "I've never looked at corvettes as motorsport cars" is an absolutely blasphemous thing to say considering their racing pedigree.
Right
Yeah, I just don't see them as tuner vehicles. They're relegated to "old guy boomer" cars, which I know is incorrect, but that's the vibe.

Def down for more grip content!
Drift is fun. Grip is _King._
Do it and have fun!
Hear Hear!!!
Should you do some grip and time attack.... Yes, yes you definitely should.
Perfect for the Evo sammit wants
Hint hint
54.9 from the N/A civic! Horiton is killing it!
Dammit Sammit add some grip driving to this channel! we need it! haha for real though id love to see a grip car added to the collection.
Yes please. I would love to see more time attack and grip stuff.

Feras is such a guy. Been following him for a while. He does all this while also being a dad, which is incredible. Super admirable
Some grip content would be dope. Especially with the missile s15 or the chaser

"Never looked at Corvettes as a motorsport car until recently" ..since the C5, corvettes have been amazing for track cars
Albo's there, Dustin even participate on Time Attack.

YES! Seat time in any motorsport is good. Maybe a collab with Rob Dahm one day?
I can highly recommend following a race team coming up to a big meet, the trials and tribulation make great automotive drama. Documenting Okamura's preparation and trip to WTAC would be a great story
Awesome video as always Sammit. Attack Scuba is so fire yes Sammit more time attack also LS swap S-15 would be so sick.

The sound of what I assume is a 4 rotor fd screaming was epic
Would definitely sound better any day over those American muscle cars.
Yes thought the same thing. 😆

Turbo near the front tires for easy heat. Nice touch
Love this kind of content sammit! Great to see more motorsport on your channel!
more sammit content is always fun, i would love to see how this will evolve next to your drift content
please cover these more.its so nice having you commentating
Hell yeah more variety please car meets car shows etc. as for grip driving why not turn the yashio s15 into a grip car
Corvette have always been in motorsport like 24hrs
Love what your doing!!. You keep doing you, and we will be here to watch!!

Do it! i never initially followed for the drift content I just find your content entertaining. What ever makes you happy, seems to be making you produce entertaining content. It could just be me but I feel most of your followers would agree.
Surprised that someone couldn't imagine a Corvette in motorsport when they've been very successful in GT racing.
You should use the abandoned S15 as your time attack car
We want to see you do/try every Motorsport, not just drifting!! Do it all sam it’ll be fun
if sam does grip the blue s15 would be so sick to see
You should get into Porsche! Its also a thing if you buy too late they go too expensive. There is so much to learn! And also a lot of handy things one can learn for future projects

All about some time attack. Would love to see an EK build for it.
The long intake runners are probably for some more torque. I think thats how it works.
Grip stuff is cool. As long as i hear turbos im good with anything
Grip is against the clock, no arguments, while drift is a human's feeling on your performance.
