I definitely agree with the judges call but glad to see the car is mechanically sound now it’s just down to learning the setup and dialing it in

Sam, My wife an I were watching the stream. She can definitely tell you are more comfortable in this car. You hit the nail on the head. Take more time getting feedback before heading back out. Your progression is really improving. Its been fun watching you and Ruddy get better and better through the years. Keep it up!

Congrats on doing your first round of FDJ1 ! Even without a qualification, the raw data collected from this round is imo pure gold and gonna be helpful for the rest of the season. I wish you the best for the next rounds. I'll be watching and cheering for you and Daiki !

The step up to FDJ1 was always going to be a big one. As long as you continue to see/feel the progression you need to take it as a win. Big leagues now! The judging looks brutal, seems like you have to be 100% on your A game at all times. So glad to see you learning and building on your skills. Better luck next round I'll be tuning in to watch again!
You need a full time hype man like rudnik on board this season. It was great to see him supporting you, and i can only imagine the impact it has on your confidence and overall mood. Keep it up Sammit! Were all here for you.
Hey Sam, you're driving a new car in every sense of the word, engine, suspension, brakes and steering. Cut yourself a little slack, we're all still riding with you just get to know your new platform.
Looks to me that your car lacks Rear downforce, maybe you could add a wing like James Deane S15, or an small tuck tail like Piotr Więcek that may help to equalise your car setup.
You have the car, you have the skills, you have the team support and, like you have eluded to yourself, all you need is the experience. Re: your mental state, you are a very balanced individual who’s mindset is one of having the want to learn, ask questions and be able to take criticism and then use that to improve.
Overall, you have made the correct decision for YOU to race in this particular league and you will improve every single time you set foot in that car you have but.

As an arm chair tuner and suspension guy I thought I saw you gripping up and the engine lugging more than I thought it would. I'm older and have excepted my reality, but I'm learning from watching and get enjoyment from that.
He had plenty of power. It was simply not enough seat time to get the line right. So he had to make adjustments. Happens to everyone though.
Yogo is so big, your first time out getting a score is big. You’re driving with the best of the best with a new car on a new track. Great job and a great video.

bro, that white area on the inner driver door/body area is so bad. around the door latch point is jarring. that father/son time was very sweet and adorable.

The car came out amazing! A lot better now that you built it yourself. Was very much a difficult layout. Not very intuitive and not the best conditions. Most everybody was getting 0's. Great course to learn and it perfect to dial in the car! 🙌

Watched your 2nd lap Live - I'm happy to finally have the explanation... I was so confused why you got the 0. It looked great to me. I had only the Japanese commentary and I couldn't understand a word. Congrats on your first event, you look so good out there that I'm sure it won't be long before we're watching the recap video for your first podium!
i always see drivers struggling to perfectly run this course, props to you sammit, keep up the driving !!
I was fortunate to get to take a couple laps at Fuji speedway this past January in an R34....it was so deceiving the elevations changes in that area that it was hard to really know your speed. I'm a total beginner and it was scary as hell so for me to see the speed you were going, let alone to do it sideways it just incredible. I have a total new appreciation for your driving talent. Good luck with the rest of the year!

To be fair the amount of progress that Sam has made in such a short time is insane, we have seen his journey and he is right where he needs to be🏆
You know who didn’t compete in FDJ1 anyone who’s complaining about you not qualifying. So stoked for you and your great success in not wadding up your car or blowing a 1000 hp motor you built with your own hands. Like seriously you built your pro car finally and no car problems at all like that so much of a bigger deal then qualifying at your first round. You were still hucking that whip around like a boss foot full down and the ass covered in smoke. Lets go sam

The real competition for everyone is to be better than what you were the day before . Your progression is amazing and cant wait to see the next one .
I think you should either invest or find a sponsor for headset so you can talk with your team all the time for advice . Keep up the progression and cant wait to see that car with all the pony free with the good tune

Your drifting has improved heaps since you did your first rounds in FDJ2, but I think by far the biggest improvements I've been seeing is how much stronger your mental game is getting. You seem way more relaxed and confident, and your outlook sounds way healthier. Like you were getting at, take your time and have fun with the journey, that's the most important bit after all, and don't worry too much about the rest, it'll come in time. :) Stoked to see you keep progressing!
Looked like a hectic track. You should see if okachan can set you up with a good chassis tuner and spend the day with them fine tuning the alignment to where it feels best for you. Can't wait to see how things progress and i know youll be on that podium soon enough😁

Regardless Sam were proud of you, the progress youve made on the car is awesome, happy its feeling good out there. Better luck next round but we kno youll get it. The fact that Fausto didnt qualify for the first 3yrs at Fuji shows that turn is a make or break.

Man all that hard work for not qualifying... Really bummed out... Was expecting at least a top 32 appearance... I threw my phone at the wall when sam missed that inside clip... Really sad and disappointed... Anyway love you sam... U got me into drifting... Working towards getting my first car... U are a great person and motivation... Hope to seeing you killing it in round 2

15:46 esports and sports teams have a person specifically for keeping up mental health of the players, 100% something to look into could make a world of difference. Even a counselor or therapist just to talk to they can give you tailored advice specifically to help you.

It did look like you were going so much faster
I think you have improved so much , I do think they duped you on the last run
I have no advice on doing that transition between stages ,it did look like lack of rear grip to push you forward instead of the sideways sliding

Your the man sam! You'll get em next time. I'm a little behind and just now catching up on your videos, you mention the sim again in this one and I was wondering what cars are your go to on assetto.
For a fresh build I would say it wasn't bad, these small mistakes always seem counter intuitive to do the right thing, but eventually with time I think you will find out for yourself, you should focus now on seat time, get used to the car when it's grippy and when it isn't, look on the bright side, the car had no issues, maybe next year you will be able to qualify as you have more experience, but as I said if I where you I would focus on seat time...
