Another great video Mads, with some stunning photo's. My favorite is the close up of the leaf, with the church in the background. Keep up the great work.
Nice video! I live in southern Nevada and the vast majority of our days are pale blue skies without a single cloud. I could also suggest creating intimate shots, closeup florals or macros.
I live in the sunniest city in NZ and blue skies are the norm. Thanks for this video. It has given me some ideas to try out as I usually struggle in such beautiful weather!
I believe blue skies make people happy and relaxed. In this sense, the blue sky behind a little church has a role in these photos to make the scene serene. On the other hand, why is a filed of green grass more interesting than a blue sky. Mads has nice photos of yellow fields with a lone tree. Some have a clear blue sky some with clouds. They do not tell the same story.
Beautiful images and great photography learning channel. Thank you for sharing knowledge with others. Would you ever consider holding a workshop in Slovenia?
Fantastic photo's, Mads! Good tips to deal with blue skyes, using interesting foregrounds and my brand new 17-28 Z lens. I like the fine colour contrasts in your autumn pictures of Slovenia. I have been once in that region, but having seen these pictures, I certainly will return. Thanks so far, Bert.
I really enjoyed watching this video and getting insights on composition. Although I’m not gonna be visiting Slovenia anytime soon, I will be traveling and hope to apply some of the composition ideas you shared. Definitely looking forward to more sharing from you along with the beautiful sights from your side of the world. Thank you.
Initially when starting out in my photography I didn't enjoy those days with clear blue skies. Nowadays I am more than happy to shoot in those conditions as I find ( as your images demonstrated Mads) clear skies allows the viewers eye to spend more time on the subject and with my architectural work, I have the opportunity to work the light to suit the aesthetic finish I am after.
Thanks for sharing some great images despite the challenge of bright, blue-sky sunshine. One approach I've taken in the harsh mid-day light is to shoot intentionally for monochrome images. When the light is bright, shoot black & white.
Wonderful images Mads. Blue sky days are normal in my region. Autumn blue sky is especially wonderful. A good landscape photographer (like yourself) knows how to shoot in any environment so the criticisms of blue sky are much overrated.
Nice Mads …glad to hear you like me do not mind blue sky days …. I find it makes me think more about composition and I like the challenge …the reflections on the leaf are magnificent! See you soon ! Let’s hope for some blue skies rolling into clear Aurora skies ! ❤
Very informative and inspiring. I am still just learning and tend to not really attempt shooting on blue sky days but you have shown me the potential and inspired me to get back out there.
I live in an area that is very flat, making it difficult to fill out empty vertical space in landscapes. If I'm bored with a composition under blue skies, I wait until night when the stars come out. That clear weather then works to my advantage.
I like "interesting" skies as much as anyone, but "boring" backgrounds can help minimize distractions to emphasize certain subjects and support more minimalist compositions (even more so on overcast days where you have more DR flexibility). Great photographers don't depend on conditions, but you've done a nice job taking advantage of what's there.
I just love Slovenia, such a lovely Country and those Churches. Another lovely set of photos, You did this place proud. PS, My Wife asked, Did you see the Black Cat near St Thomas Church ?
Mads, those church landscapes are mind blowing ! Looks like they were built for landscape photography. Single lane curvy dirt lanes leading to them. Wow. Great video as usual.
you make beautiful factual videos. Could you tell me what make camera bracket/tripod mount you use, I notice you go from landscape to portrait without taking the camera from the mount. thank you Bob
Haven't watched yet (but I will)... first question that pops up in my mind: how to photograph boring grey skies? We've had so many of these last winter and those grey, flat, boring skies made me desperate!
Many photographers think that replacing skies is a step too far. For a commercial graphic scene it does not matter. But for genuine amateur landscape photography I find it best to get it right in camera as much as possible. Then adjust minimally in post altering the photo no more than could be achieved by having time to wait for better light or allowing for the limitations of equipment. Otherwise I feel that I am cheating myself somehow.
@@petercollins7848 I was being ironic and a tad provocative. :) I'm completely with you on that matter and would never do that. And if I did do that, I'd state it so there was no deception involved. Mads on the other hand has been known to do that.
Blue skies without clouds is way far away from "boring" Also you can achieve this look opposite of a setting sun simply using your aperture. Approaching golden hour opposite of the sun you can get that same shot without an expensive filter, Lower ISO, Stop down, raise/lower your shutter and boom, nice clean crisp color fulfilling shot
I'm really finding it hard to take these sweeping pronouncements I hear from photographers - who said blue skies are boring as if it were axiomatic? The same people who insist that you must have a foreground element? Is all photography formulaic?
@MadsPeterIversen Well I personally don't find blue skies boring and I do find shoving a highly distorted foreground element because it's "how things are done" a bit tired, and I don't recall seeing them until relatively recent times.
I have always found blue skies to be absolutely beautiful
I love blue skies, The prettiest blue skies I have ever seen are in New Mexico.
Makes me happy, every time you pull out the 28-200. Such a beast. Old, cheap, small, but just works so so well.
Blue and green are never boring!
This photo with the leaf on Lake Bled is stunningly amazing 😃 Great video as always 🙂
These images were so beautiful ❤. Slovenia looks like a fairy tale land. Thanks for sharing them.

If I only could have a blue sky day!
Same here but at the very least some of the tips apply for boring grey skies too.
Easy problem pal. Move to Slovenia.
I live in the sunniest city in NZ and blue skies are the norm. Thanks for this video. It has given me some ideas to try out as I usually struggle in such beautiful weather!
Not sure how I feel about the out of focus flowers and leaves as foreground, but I might try it sometime.

Great video on how to use blue skies as a clean backdrop to highlight your subject. Blue skies in winter are especially epic.
Backlit stuff and out of focus foreground flowers are good ideas
It was a great trip. You and Sam took us to some amazing locations. I'm still working through the photos processing favorites.
Dude! That leaf with a sunstar is so good. It would be a nice photo without it, but with that little detail it is just gorgeous. Well done!
The autumn leaf photo is amazing. I would love to get a shot like that.

Great advice. I love the leaf in Lake Bled!

Awesome Mads, love the shot of the leaf in the foreground.
Hope you had a great time in Slovenia 🇸🇮
Next time you should also check the Soča valley! 😉
Absolut geniale Resultate…, wirklich spektakuläre Aufnahmen!
Awesome video and great workshop ! Slovenia is beautiful !

"Fun stuff in the sky".....
Made my day and im not sure, why its so funny for myself! :D
Thx, Mads! :)

Slovenia is extremely beautiful country.
@ from what I can see from the video, I’d have to agree!
you make beautiful factual videos.
Could you tell me what make camera bracket/tripod mount you use, I notice you go from landscape to portrait without taking the camera from the mount. thank you Bob
Love the leaf photo !!!
I'd rather have a blue sky than the slate grey skies we usually have here in the UK
Why not try to focus stack the flowers in the foreground?
Nice shots.
Haven't watched yet (but I will)... first question that pops up in my mind: how to photograph boring grey skies? We've had so many of these last winter and those grey, flat, boring skies made me desperate!
Beutiful Slovenia
Here in the UK for most of the year we have boring grey skies.
Is English sufficient to get by when traveling n Slovenia?
focus stacking is your friend
Hi Mads, the photo with the leaf on Lake Bled, did you have to focus stack that shot?
Yes indeed:)
@ thank you ☺️
❤❤❤❤
always have a problem with banding with cloudless blue skies
Beautiful, b-eautiful, b-eautiful... I can speculate, that your photis could be better, than these places in real life
If you have a sky you don't like it, you can just replace it with a sky you like that you photographed earlier - right?

mamaw!
When I have blue skies, they just turn out to be white and over composed.
… no clouds? Ask the AI in post processing for help! 😏 I'm just kidding you … 😉 …

Can I come to Slovenia w you for free? I make great company.
It has always interested me why something as beautiful as a blue sky is considered ugly in landscape shots. I actually like blue sky days.
Often times, it looks a bit boring.
I'm really finding it hard to take these sweeping pronouncements I hear from photographers - who said blue skies are boring as if it were axiomatic? The same people who insist that you must have a foreground element? Is all photography formulaic?
It’s suggestions, if you wanna go throw all aesthetic learnings accumulated over millennia to the wind, you are completely free to do so ;)
@MadsPeterIversen Well I personally don't find blue skies boring and I do find shoving a highly distorted foreground element because it's "how things are done" a bit tired, and I don't recall seeing them until relatively recent times.
boring?
