    He probably focuses so much of his time on advanced theoretical physics that this undergraduate stuff everyone claims to be so easy must be something he hasn’t worked on in years.

      A geophysicist certainly does not work on advanced theoretical physics...
      I am very surprised that he got the first question so wrong.. Probably didn't take the time to read it properly. I mean, it should be obvious to anyone with basic knowledge of physics or math that it cannot be C or D, because the ball wouldn't bounce at all.

    He’s super cute and I can’t imagine many professors would let their students to this kind of experiment with them because most of them are that stuck up. Props to him, I’m sure he’s very smart and good in his field. I’m currently getting ready for the university exam myself and we learn to memorize some question types because they come up often so we can solve them quickly. He’s just not used to it that’s all.

    This stuff is your typical intro physics classes that the professor probably forgotten because he doesn't teach Physics I/II. Kinematics, circuits, and intro relativity topics are what he took classes about these things during his first year of physics in undergrad (if not earlier)- and probably not relevant to the phenomena he studies or the upper level physics he teaches.
    What i can also comment on is the backwardness of the Chinese education system from elementary school to PhD programs. I was a teacher in a medical school in southern China (teaching medical terminology and neurobiology) and can personally attest to this.

    In fifth question correct answer is A, not A and D.
    Answer D is: Ta ^ 2 / Tb ^ 2 = Ra ^ 3 / Rb ^ 3, where Ta, Tb - periods of a and b; Ra, Rb - radius of a and b.
    Let's check it.
    We have formulas for periods of a and b:
    (1) Ta = 2 * pi / wa;
    (2) Tb = 2 * pi / wb,
    where wa, wb - angular velocity of a and b.
    We know that acceleration in circular motion is: g = (wa ^ 2) * Ra and g = (wa ^ 2) * Rb; (3)
    Let's square (1) and (2) and replace squared angular velocities with help of (3) (wa ^ 2 = g / Ra; wb ^ 2 = g / Rb).
    We will get:
    (4) Ta ^ 2 = 4 * (pi ^ 2) / (g / Ra);
    (5) Tb ^ 2 = 4 * (pi ^ 2) / (g / Rb).
    If divide (4) by (5) and make reductions we will get: (Ta ^ 2) / (Tb ^ 2) = Ra / Rb.

    If only education ,research and the basic thngs are taken in account all the IIts would have been in top 50 or 100. Old IIts coud have been in top 10 too....

      @@singularity2400 It's better to say "If you're not American*, not "if you aren't America". Native speakers prefer the first. Sounds smoother. And adding "about" is unnecessary in your last sentence. Also it's Gaokao's not gaokaos. Didn't want to bring grammar into this but you insisted.

    GAOKAO Questions Of PCM Are Somewhat Similar To The JEE MAIN Level Of India I Feel. But These Are No Way Near To JEE ADVANCED. Yes The Thing Which Makes GAOKAO Tough As They Have To Be Tested For Even English And Social Sciences Which Is Not The Case In India. So If Comparison Is Done On Basis Of Level Of Questions Then It Is No Way Near To JEE ADVANCED. But Yes GAOKAO Is Also One Of The Toughest Competitions I Agree As An Indian.

    From an Indian perspective Questions looks easy.But i was surprised to find special relativity questions at high school level entrance exam.I think the paper setters in china are actually testing how MUCH they know.The Indian paper setters on the other hand test how WELL they know.Which is why 70-80% of questions will be from Newtonian Mechanics,Electrostatics and Thermodynamics.You will hardly find any questions on modern physics.
