  • As we move forward from the pandemic and begin to see some changes and normality returning, we look at how policing in Ireland has changed for An Garda Síochána. Earlier this year, we spoke with Inspector Audrey Dormer and Community Sergeant Conor Egan from Carlow Garda Station about how gardaí have adapted to many changes in the organisation and to Community Policing. (Inspector Dormer has retired from the force since filming.) (Some footage courtesy Garda Press Office)

Who would want to become a Guard now. The power has been taken away from the local Garda now and they are answering to a computer. Most ordinary Guards are just administrators, public servants. Treasurers for the state. If a complaint goes in against them they are isolated and left on their own with no proper protection. The Government funding for proper training and resources kare poor, leading to an under trained force with a lack of proper equipment and resources, poor income and an overall low morale.
