I'm usually not a superhero movie fan, but Logan was amazing. It really took you on a journey. The ending in perticular was amazing. And also it didn't follow the same old formula.

It's because it's not really a superhero film, at least it doesn't feel like one. It feels realistic, it deals with dark and gritty and real themes and the Batman universe has always had much more interesting dynamics between its characters (not just Joker and Batman). Batman feels like someone you could ultimately be one day. Sure, he has crazy money and crazy technology and crazy physique and crazy mental power but none of that is at least superhuman. That alone is the element that makes Batman, and I would argue DC in general (though I'm not here to argue which is best of the two because there's a fair bit of shite in DC's universe too) so much more compelling. And the most iconic villains, Joker, Two-Face, Penguin, they're not even supervillains. They explore much more mature themes, and handle them with a lot more finesse. It's more than just sound and fury signifying nothing

While I completely agree with you, that doesnt take away from the fact that representation is important! We still need black, asian, disabled, women, etc superheroes (in this case). Its very easy to say “everyone should just shut up about this representation thing because we should all be able to indentify ourselves with whoever we want no matter the race or genger or wtv!” But when ALL mainstream superheroes are white perfect males, it’s as though you are forced to admire one type of canonical person. Oooo a debate! I got some time to kill at work so let's get into this. I want to preface this by saying that I am an adult who watches Marvel movies and enjoys them (for the most part). I want to just try to go through this video and address your points. Oversaturation: you're definitely right about this in the sense that there is a huge saturation of Marvel movies. For me personally, although I really enjoyed the first Ironman, as they kept rolling out more I started to sort of care less about it because none of them had that same punch as the first one did. But then again, if it's a character I actually do really like, like Captain America, then I'm excited for any one of his movies to drop. It's circumstantial to me, I don't have the emotional capacity to love every single character lol bless those who do. However, I will say though that Marvel's achievement to build an over arching story throughout a multitude of films is something that's very interesting to me and its fascinating enough for me to sit down and watch thor 3 and ironman 10 lol. It's a really impressive scale that they're working with. Not only do you have to drive a overarching story forward but you also have to make sure that you develop every single character in the franchise. That's not an easy task and Marvel does it extremely well. Repeating Format: yep, superhero movies always follow the same format. But that doesn't take away my stress when Thor gets beaten up so hard lol even though they have similar formats, I find that they have the ability to keep you in the present moment, even though you know the hero will probably still survive. Too much CGI: maybe it's just me, but because I have a background knowledge in some digital arts, when I watch some of the realistic CGI scenes and I think about how many hours it must have taken the developers to make that scene come to life, I feel a sort of appreciation for it. I think it's as interesting and admirable than doing a real stunt. A lot of the time, a real stunt is confined to reality. Sure, flipping a truck is doable, but bulldozing a building probably isn't. John Wick: Man I love that movie because of how much effort Reeves put into building his character. I agree with this point. However, I don't think we should automatically dismiss how much actors do to prepare for their superhero roles. Keeanu is the exception because he's dedicated on a whole other level The Anime Thing: I think that people bring up the whole "you like anime" thing as a way to try to "give you a taste of your own medicine". What I mean by this is sure, it's fine for everyone to have their own opinions on things, but you seem to almost "shame" people for liking it, implying that they're almost less of an adult for doing so. Even if it's not your intention, it comes off as judgemental and condescending. Especially as a public figure, the backlash will hit harder since you're shaming your viewers instead of presenting a concise debate, which you're capable of doing because most of this video is a really good debate. It's just this part where you lose me. Also, you seem to have an iron focus on what's MEANT for teens and what's MEANT for adults. At the end of the day, anyone can consume any sort of media that they want to. As long as it's not hurting anyone, people can do whatever they want with their life. I know you say something like this at the end of your video but it was a half hearted. If you're wondering where the hate is coming from, it's primarily from this public shaming thing you got going on, not that you're challenging a massive franchise with a big following The Marvel Cult: I agree with you in the sense that the cult thing freaks me out a little. But to be honest, I just get freaked out by anyone who doesn't seem in control of themselves and their body. That's just who I am and that's probably just who you are. To be honest, I'm a person with not a lot of passion for anything. So even though it freaks me out a little, I think the ability for someone to feel so much love and passion for something is a wonderful thing that I almost wish I had. I never get that excited about anything. I also think it's pretty cool seeing a massive crowd of people all come together and get excited about something. I love seeing unity. Childhood: Even I, as an emotionless, passionless robot, love certain franchises because I grew up with it. I think this point is very singular for you because I don't think I've ever met anyone who isn't nostalgic about anything lol For me, it's Harry Potter. I remember every single release so well and I remember the point I was at in my life during each one. Each book and movie becomes a lovely flash back to a point in my life. Now on the other side of things, sometimes people latch onto fictional stories because their life circumstances are terrible and its all they have. When someone says that a certain thing is their childhood and is important them, you just sort of have to respect that because you don't know whether they fell in love with it through good or bad circumstances. That's the best way I can explain that point. False Idols: If I'm being honest, it bothers me a lot more that people idolize celebrities that do nothing more than act or appear on social media. At least super heroes have a good set of morals and they're good role models. One of my friends idolized Tony Stark so much that they actually went into computer programming for AI as a career! How cool is that?! I find that a lot of the time, people aren't idolizing the power, but the person who holds the power. For example, I like Captain America for his ruthlessness for doing the right thing and I like how calm and collected he is in the face of adversary. Representation: Honestly, coming from someone who doesn't care that much about being represented in media (mainly because I'm an Irish Indian, so the chances of that happening are low) I see how important it is for young people to see someone who looks like them do great things. It's just one of those things that I feel like is hard to understand unless you've been in that situation. I will say though that I enjoy video games a lot more when I can make my character into a brown girl lol Money Loops: I understand your stance on this. I will say though that for the most part the story lines and characters are still engaging enough to remain interesting for people like me. So that's why I continue to watch the movies. I understand his point for this video, but I also don’t? Like it’s simple, he just doesn’t like super hero movies. I know people who don’t like them either, just not their cup of tea. Crude comedy movies aren’t my cup of tea and I hardly ever watch them. Every once in awhile I do find one to be extremely good, and I suspect that’s what happens to Felix with superhero movies. All superhero movies follow a somewhat similar storyline because that’s just the genre. It’s the same with romance movies. Like it’s expected for a romance to happen and you’re going into the movie knowing there will be romance. It’s the same with superhero movies, you know there will be a hero and a villain and the hero will win in the end. Movies that have altered the superhero movie criteria are Logan, Deadpool, Civi War (friends/heroes fighting each other) and Infinity War (villain wins) But every movie genre follows the same basic principles, and if you don’t like that genre, you don’t have to watch it. I understand that Marvel is everywhere atm but back in the day so were all the twilight movies too. Basically what I’m saying is I don’t understand people hating on things they don’t like, why can’t people just be like ‘yeah not my thing’ and leave it at that?

It's because it's not really a superhero film, at least it doesn't feel like one. It feels realistic, it deals with dark and gritty and real themes and the Batman universe has always had much more interesting dynamics between its characters (not just Joker and Batman). Batman feels like someone you could ultimately be one day. Sure, he has crazy money and crazy technology and crazy physique and crazy mental power but none of that is at least superhuman. That alone is the element that makes Batman, and I would argue DC in general (though I'm not here to argue which is best of the two because there's a fair bit of shite in DC's universe too) so much more compelling. And the most iconic villains, Joker, Two-Face, Penguin, they're not even supervillains. They explore much more mature themes, and handle them with a lot more finesse. It's more than just sound and fury signifying nothing

While I completely agree with you, that doesnt take away from the fact that representation is important! We still need black, asian, disabled, women, etc superheroes (in this case). Its very easy to say “everyone should just shut up about this representation thing because we should all be able to indentify ourselves with whoever we want no matter the race or genger or wtv!” But when ALL mainstream superheroes are white perfect males, it’s as though you are forced to admire one type of canonical person. Its just nice when you can look at the screen of a movie and think “hey, despite this characteristic i have that is usually frowned upon or that suffers certain discriminations from some groups of people, i can still be jus as awesome and cool as that guy/girl/wtv!”

Oooo a debate! I got some time to kill at work so let's get into this. I want to preface this by saying that I am an adult who watches Marvel movies and enjoys them (for the most part). I want to just try to go through this video and address your points.
Oversaturation: you're definitely right about this in the sense that there is a huge saturation of Marvel movies. For me personally, although I really enjoyed the first Ironman, as they kept rolling out more I started to sort of care less about it because none of them had that same punch as the first one did. But then again, if it's a character I actually do really like, like Captain America, then I'm excited for any one of his movies to drop. It's circumstantial to me, I don't have the emotional capacity to love every single character lol bless those who do. However, I will say though that Marvel's achievement to build an over arching story throughout a multitude of films is something that's very interesting to me and its fascinating enough for me to sit down and watch thor 3 and ironman 10 lol. It's a really impressive scale that they're working with. Not only do you have to drive a overarching story forward but you also have to make sure that you develop every single character in the franchise. That's not an easy task and Marvel does it extremely well.
Repeating Format: yep, superhero movies always follow the same format. But that doesn't take away my stress when Thor gets beaten up so hard lol even though they have similar formats, I find that they have the ability to keep you in the present moment, even though you know the hero will probably still survive.
Too much CGI: maybe it's just me, but because I have a background knowledge in some digital arts, when I watch some of the realistic CGI scenes and I think about how many hours it must have taken the developers to make that scene come to life, I feel a sort of appreciation for it. I think it's as interesting and admirable than doing a real stunt. A lot of the time, a real stunt is confined to reality. Sure, flipping a truck is doable, but bulldozing a building probably isn't.
John Wick: Man I love that movie because of how much effort Reeves put into building his character. I agree with this point. However, I don't think we should automatically dismiss how much actors do to prepare for their superhero roles. Keeanu is the exception because he's dedicated on a whole other level
The Anime Thing: I think that people bring up the whole "you like anime" thing as a way to try to "give you a taste of your own medicine". What I mean by this is sure, it's fine for everyone to have their own opinions on things, but you seem to almost "shame" people for liking it, implying that they're almost less of an adult for doing so. Even if it's not your intention, it comes off as judgemental and condescending. Especially as a public figure, the backlash will hit harder since you're shaming your viewers instead of presenting a concise debate, which you're capable of doing because most of this video is a really good debate. It's just this part where you lose me. Also, you seem to have an iron focus on what's MEANT for teens and what's MEANT for adults. At the end of the day, anyone can consume any sort of media that they want to. As long as it's not hurting anyone, people can do whatever they want with their life. I know you say something like this at the end of your video but it was a half hearted. If you're wondering where the hate is coming from, it's primarily from this public shaming thing you got going on, not that you're challenging a massive franchise with a big following
The Marvel Cult: I agree with you in the sense that the cult thing freaks me out a little. But to be honest, I just get freaked out by anyone who doesn't seem in control of themselves and their body. That's just who I am and that's probably just who you are. To be honest, I'm a person with not a lot of passion for anything. So even though it freaks me out a little, I think the ability for someone to feel so much love and passion for something is a wonderful thing that I almost wish I had. I never get that excited about anything. I also think it's pretty cool seeing a massive crowd of people all come together and get excited about something. I love seeing unity.
Childhood: Even I, as an emotionless, passionless robot, love certain franchises because I grew up with it. I think this point is very singular for you because I don't think I've ever met anyone who isn't nostalgic about anything lol For me, it's Harry Potter. I remember every single release so well and I remember the point I was at in my life during each one. Each book and movie becomes a lovely flash back to a point in my life. Now on the other side of things, sometimes people latch onto fictional stories because their life circumstances are terrible and its all they have. When someone says that a certain thing is their childhood and is important them, you just sort of have to respect that because you don't know whether they fell in love with it through good or bad circumstances. That's the best way I can explain that point.
False Idols: If I'm being honest, it bothers me a lot more that people idolize celebrities that do nothing more than act or appear on social media. At least super heroes have a good set of morals and they're good role models. One of my friends idolized Tony Stark so much that they actually went into computer programming for AI as a career! How cool is that?! I find that a lot of the time, people aren't idolizing the power, but the person who holds the power. For example, I like Captain America for his ruthlessness for doing the right thing and I like how calm and collected he is in the face of adversary.
Representation: Honestly, coming from someone who doesn't care that much about being represented in media (mainly because I'm an Irish Indian, so the chances of that happening are low) I see how important it is for young people to see someone who looks like them do great things. It's just one of those things that I feel like is hard to understand unless you've been in that situation. I will say though that I enjoy video games a lot more when I can make my character into a brown girl lol
Money Loops: I understand your stance on this. I will say though that for the most part the story lines and characters are still engaging enough to remain interesting for people like me. So that's why I continue to watch the movies.

As a teenager, Civil War made me stop watching Marvel movies because, compared with the original comics, those movies are even shallower. Civil War ought to more meaningful. But of course, movies are movies, you can't make the audience spend couple days in cinemas analyzing every character and every behavior. That's my point.

Logan is totally different, it’s got a bittersweet ending and it is a blend of genres like western and drama, honestly one of the best movies I’ve ever seen regardless of genre. It’s kinda funny that Fox made a better movie than anything I’ve seen out of the MCU. Give Logan a chance.

I understand his point for this video, but I also don’t? Like it’s simple, he just doesn’t like super hero movies. I know people who don’t like them either, just not their cup of tea. Crude comedy movies aren’t my cup of tea and I hardly ever watch them. Every once in awhile I do find one to be extremely good, and I suspect that’s what happens to Felix with superhero movies. All superhero movies follow a somewhat similar storyline because that’s just the genre. It’s the same with romance movies. Like it’s expected for a romance to happen and you’re going into the movie knowing there will be romance. It’s the same with superhero movies, you know there will be a hero and a villain and the hero will win in the end. Movies that have altered the superhero movie criteria are Logan, Deadpool, Civi War (friends/heroes fighting each other) and Infinity War (villain wins)
But every movie genre follows the same basic principles, and if you don’t like that genre, you don’t have to watch it. I understand that Marvel is everywhere atm but back in the day so were all the twilight movies too. Basically what I’m saying is I don’t understand people hating on things they don’t like, why can’t people just be like ‘yeah not my thing’ and leave it at that?
