    It means the world to me that you shared this. Doing all the research was giving me analysis paralysis, but watching you just do it gave me the push to just do it too. I was so afraid to sleep train and upset my baby, but it turns out that she was crying WAY MORE when I was intervening than when she started sleep training. Thank you!

    Hey babe! I just wanted to thank you, like whole heartedly! After watching this video and the following one I started sleep training that night. With in three nights we didn’t have to do any check ins for any sleeps! Thanks to you I knew exactly what to expect and felt like I knew what I was doing for once! This will be night 7 but we haven’t even had to follow the schedule as bub falls asleep with in 5 minutes anyway. You’re a godsend, so grateful. I’ll save this video for all my friends and my future babes! Sending love xx

    Was it after Dad's check in that he fell asleep? I'm curious, because, once I passed on sleep duty and checking in to my husband my daughter started falling asleep quicker... Once she saw I wasn't the one responding to her cries she surrendered to sleep...

    Thank you for this video. We just started ST our third child and let me tell you, the anxiety and guilt we parents experience each time we go through this doesn’t get easier!
    Despite refreshing my memory with research, watching your video answered so many other questions and gave me the validation that I’m doing what I believe is right and helping my child in the long run. You reminded me that each child is different and it will get worse before it gets better.
    I especially appreciated that you walked through the naps as that is something that I didn’t see much info on. You gave me the confidence and validation that I was desperately seeking at 2:30am last night. 😅 so grateful to have come across your channel. Thanks again and wish me luck! 🤞🏼

    Per a program I used and worked in 2 nights. feed before and after naps, every 2 hrs all day so they have all their calories by night. Feed before bath time, so their food won’t come up right before bed. Once they’re asleep, dream feed at 10:30 and then 3 am. Feeding them before they wake rather than waiting for them to cry is the trick. Then you wean off night feed but feeding a minute less everyday. *also* notice how your baby likes to sleep, on their belly? Side? Put them down that way*:( good luck mommies! 🙏🏽 they say the second is easiest and I just wonderrr lol

    Something that has helped us beat the early morning wake ups is to choose daily wake time and continue Ferber until that time comes. Ours is 7:00 and so if she wakes up before (which she doesn’t anymore) we would continue pop ins until 7:00 and then once it hits 7:00 we go in happy and ready to start the day. Also we do a dream feed at like 10:30 and it helps a lot.

      Mothers and babies are designed to be a mutually responsive dyad. Babies express their needs to the mother (or caregiver) through crying.
      Letting babies "cry it out" is a form of need-neglect that leads to many long-term effects.
      Consequences of the "cry it out" method include: It releases stress hormones, impairs self-regulation, and undermines trust.
      Yes the method will work but at what cost?
      Ever heard of GENTLE SLEEP COACHING, same results but without the tears.

    Idk why anyone would give you hate, your kids cannot sleep in your bed forever. That's not healthy for you, your husband, or the child. My niece slept in her parents' bed until she was six and then they finally tried making her sleep in her own bed. I can't even imagine not having that alone time with my husband for 6 years.
    You're doing the right thing for your kids and your family :)

      How can you compare a 6 yo with a 6 mo? A baby needs his mother's warmth at night. It is a western thing to want a baby to sleep in their own room, it is not natural and goes against the baby's instincts.

    I would suggest a sleep sack or wearable blanket! Like Zipadee-Zip. On their website it says that babies like it because they feel comfort when they feel can feel the edges. Idk I guess it imitates the womb but okay for older babies that can roll over. Worth a shot! My almost 4 month old wears the Love to Dream "Swaddle Up" since she didnt like being swaddled with her hands down anymore. She cries when I put her down but once i zip her up (and I do use pacifier) she goes right to sleep. She knows when she's wearing it that its time for sleep! I will transition her soon to the Zipadee-zip when she can roll over. Just a thought! It might help.. Love keeping up with you and your family!

    Just want to mention that sometimes with full extinction, they stop way faster overall. I tried ferber at first, and she could go for literally hours because she was just reinvigorated every time I went in. When we tried full extinction, 20 minutes flat. Also worth mentioning that my baby would cry while being rocked to sleep as well, so we really weren't getting her to sleep cry free at any point in her life past newborn. But now that she's sleep trained, she only cries when she's overtired and only for a few minutes.

  • @_itslesley_4727

    You’re doing a great job!
    I work as a nanny for an almost 3 month old. I have done the Ferber method in the past and one thing that definitely helped was not allowing baby to get so frustrated that he isn’t able to settle down. After the first few minutes, I go in and place my hand on their chest and once I see that they are calm, I leave the room. I know it’s hard to hear your baby cry, this will allow them to learn how to self soothe, before you know it.. they’re sleeping without assistance!
    Another tip would be to start sleep training during the day - first nap
    Use a sleep sack-, zen sleep sack is great!

    Sleep training for the first time (day 2) with my 5-month old. I cant stop crying...it feels like he is gettng worse and worse...he's only had one 30-min nap today. I just feel like im torturing him but I dont wanna mess up the process. Ugh....event he "gentle" sleep training approaches make your baby cry.

      It’s ok to not sleep train. You can keep your baby happy and comfortable at night instead, that will bring baby confidence in your love and a sense of safety that will lead to more confidence and true independence that is based on love, not separation or stress. Check out “breastsleeping” by Dr. McKenna.

    I’ve noticed that the temperature in the monitor shows at 77 or 78, I wonder if lowering the temperature a little bit will help him. Also I remember that with my daughter she would go through “twilight sleep” which is when they wake up halfway through their nap, but if you let me cry for a bit they will go right back to sleep and complete their nap. I hope this helps!

    • @KaylaBuell
      @KaylaBuell  4 роки тому +1

      Yes! Like mentioned below, that monitor has never been accurate with the temperature. That’s the one thing I don’t like about it. But yea, Jackson will wake up after that twilight sleep but it looks like these days he’s at least putting himself back down after that so that’s progress!!

    My daughter did not sleep through the night until she was 2. I tried everything. She was exclusively breastfed for a year , never took a bottle or pacifier. Would always fall asleep on me and use me as a pacifier to sooth. I was miserable. Not until she was 2 she only started to sleep through the night..
    I feel for you.

I’m so worried the bond with him and trust he has in me will affect him. Did you have any long term effects? If they wet their nappy I change and then start the process again from the start? Thank you for this video ❤

    Do you use black out curtains or something to darken the room during the day for his naps? I'm a first time mom and expecting a little one in November. I know they say it's important for them to distinguish between day and night and was wondering if that would be too confusing

    • @KaylaBuell
      @KaylaBuell  4 роки тому

      Yes! We have Velcro blackout shades in his room so that it’s super dark in there even for naps. I find that’s always helped him sleep a little better.

    We sleep trained my daughter at 4 months old. We started with the Ferber method but ended up using extinction because she would just cry harder and harder after check-ins. Took about 3 nights (and I cried almost the whole time she cried!), but it was so worth it in the end.
    We did also get her a lovey because she wouldn't take a pacifier either, but she is also a thumb sucker which helped immensely.

    • @KaylaBuell

    I have a question. Dies it set them back by allowing them to come into your bed in the morning and fall back asleep? Since that’s what he wanted to begin with? Would it be like starting from scratch since he got what he wanted? I’m not asking in a sarcastic way, I really am curious about if it’s ok or if it’s recommended to always put them back in their own bed.

    When they are teething or sick or having a hard time, you are not supposed to "manage your expectations " but to comfort them! You are not supposed to start a sleep training at all when they are not doing well

      Lillian Epperson it’s crazy how they won’t sleep on their own flat lol. Like my baby haatesss that. But he loves to sleep like a little human with a blanket and a pillow. I’m like are you serious lol he likes to be so comfy. He can take hour naps that way. But only naps so I can watch him.. I know they aren’t supposed to sleep like that so I’m in the same room with him doing work. But just the blanket there he likes to mess with it until he falls asleep.

  • @teobuicliu6775

    In my opinion this is a very harsh method . it might work as the baby will fall asleep eventually due to the exhaustion of crying and then will develop a pattern and fall asleep ,but you must be a very strong mother to do it ( the method being thought by a man who does not have the same connection with the baby that a mother has ) and make sure also that your baby is not chocking himself with the compulsive crying , mine if starts crying because i put him down when almost asleep or even asleep and then wakes up because of the crying, will end up almost stop breathing so i am not going to put him through this. and also i fear he will feel abandoned . But for who decides to do it , best of luck and stay strong .

    • @MidnightMamaStitches
      @MidnightMamaStitches 2 роки тому

      It actually allows you to monitor your child as they learn to independently focus on their sleep. It may seem harsh but it’s teaching them you are there for them as they learn on their own. A valuable lesson. So many methods out there, hope you find yours!
