As a “Protestant” (for lack of a better term) looking into EO, this was a very helpful perspective regarding icons. Thank you ❤

One Valentines Day I found a little candy heart that said "Be my Icon". I gave it to the Priest that morning and I think he was really touched...I think he probably still has it...

      Dear Christina:
At Pascha 1997, while staying at St John the Baptist Monastery in Essex, we returned from the Paschal Liturgy at 2.30am and found a parcel on the pillow with the same sweet attached to it, with the same words. I opened it to find a Holy Icon of my Patron painted by my best friend and spiritual sister who had taken me to that place, and all these years later, still does.
I always tear up at the remembrance of this gift and God's gift of her to me.
      Glory to God !!

I often get made fun of for looking like Jesus. Does this mean I'm doing a good job? 😂 all kidding aside, thank you for these words, Abbot Tryphon.

What's this? An Orthodox homily adressing a serious matter but in a lighthearted manner and even cracking jokes?! It cannot be!
